Hi all -

I'm hoping you can assist me with the area of service suggestions when trying to avoid using literature, and focusing on just the Bible.

I've had a hard time getting out since this NGO thing came out. I've also had some situations come up where I've been around some disassociated ones who chose to do so after having a Silent Lamb issue in their family (grandpa with grandaughter).

I hope that those of you who are still out there can offer encouragement and suggestions for an outline of what to focus on for FS.

Thank you so much,

SNS-Becoming

Nothing wrong with using just the Bible in the service. One problem could be that not everybody you'll meet in the service has an easy time taking in information directly from the Bible at first. There may be some who find it easier to read a more easily accessible text as their initial contact with biblical information.

Apparently, God's will is that there are Bible explaining literature, so that a maximum amount of people can come closer to Him. Why not use the Society's literature? I assume you'll eventually lead the person you meet in the service to the meetings sooner or later, and they'll get to form their own opinion of what the Society is doing right or wrong.

Besides, I think there is still healthy information as well as upbuilding articles in the magazines, for example. If we look at the magazines for April, there is a great article on page 9 of the WT called "He sees our real value", that really draws the reader closer to Jehovah. The following article, "Will the Earth one day be destroyed" is also very interesting with good biblical references. It brings a hopeful message to the increasing number of people watching desperately the environmental developments and wondering where it all will end.

Awake for April is filled with lots of biblically irrelevant stuff, but there is one gem: On page 20 there is an article titled "What does God expect from us?". That is something everybody on Earth should read, nobody has to be ashamed to offer that one to people to read. Also, I think the very last article of the leading article series is worth reading.

If you don't want to work with the magazines, there are brochures that are wonderful, which direct attention to the Bible as well as present important biblical messages in an appealing way. "Book for All", "Does God Care" and "Purpose of Life" are just some examples.

What I'm saying is, everything the Society produces is not garbage. There are still faithful and discrete slaves in there. Some of them are still allowed to give out spiritual food in the right time.

Thank you so much for your thoughts. I do agree and certainly appreciate much of the literature.

I think its great that you want to just use the bible. ITs much more genuine with les stigmas attached.

I like James...when under trial do not think that its God.

Or Jesus being offered the Kingdom by the Devil.

The bible can be marked and ready to go. The fact that the society is using the literature instead of the bible scares me. Too much dependance on the "society". Oh yeah, "its a publishing company". It makes total marketing sense, now.

Excited for you SNS-becoming, Deborah
