    From time to time I receive emails from Jehovah’s Witnesses who are disturbed by what they read on e-watchman.com and they feel compelled to straighten me out. I did not respond in detail privately to this particular e-mailer, but I will do so here.

    e-mailer: I just want to say. If King David ventured as NOT to stretch out his hand against Saul, and if Michael refrained from rebuking the devil, but left it to Jehovah - then by what authority, especially claiming "to be" anointed - is it that you place yourself above the teachings of the scriptures. Its makes you no better than the ones lashing out.

    "The high mountains are for the mountain goats;

    The crags are a refuge for the rock badgers.

    He has made the moon for appointed times;

    The sun itself knows well where it sets.

    You cause darkness, that it may become night..."

    Matt Slick of The Christian Apologetics and Research Ministry (CARM) asks that very question (Is the Jehovah's Witnesses religion Christian?) and conveniently supplies the reader with the answer. Here is a quote taken from the CARM website:
    "The answer to the question is, 'No. It is not Christian.' Like all non-Christian cults, the Jehovah's Witness organization distorts the essential doctrines of Christianity."

    It is Summer in the Northern Hemisphere. Do you know that death and injury from lightning is one of the most common natural hazards? Did you know that one lightning bolt can pack the punch of over 1 million volts and heat the surrounding air to 50,000 degrees? Did you know that lightning can fuse elements to form compounds? Did you know that National Geographic has an article on lightning facts?

    "Listen attentively, you men, to the rumbling of his voice, and the growling that goes forth from his mouth. Under the whole heavens he lets it loose, and his lightning is to the extremities of the earth. After it a sound roars; He thunders with the sound of his superiority, and he does not hold them back when his voice is heard. God thunders with his voice in a wonderful way, doing great things that we cannot know." - Job 37:2-4

    Hiking the redwood forest"Wow, that's big"
    The sequoias in California grow to become the largest trees in the world. To get some idea of how big these trees may become, notice the little deer standing at the base of the one tree. Even the deer seems to be impressed with what God has done. Some of these giant trees live for thousands of years. No one really knows how long they can live. They are virtually impervious to disease and even fire. Usually they become so massive they simply topple over. But it underscores the meaning of Isaiah 65:22, which says: "For like the days of a tree will the days of my people be; and the work of their own hands my chosen ones will use to the full." In other words, Jehovah's redeemed ones will live forever on the earth.

    Any of Jehovah's Witnesses who live in the UK or who plan on visiting London should take the time to tour the British Museum. These are a few pics I snapped last time I was there, last year. (Click to enlarge)

    “Aha, the Assyrian, the rod for my anger, and the stick that is in their hand for my denunciation! Against an apostate nation I shall send him, and against the people of my fury I shall issue a command to him, to take much spoil and to take much plunder and to make it a trampling place like the clay of the streets. Though he may not be that way, he will feel inclined; though his heart may not be that way, he will scheme, because to annihilate is in his heart, and to cut off nations not a few."
    Isaiah 10
