How can anyone believe the Quran?

I'm 80% way through reading the Quran (not in order) and I can't fathom how anyone could've seen merit/validity to it, the whole thing so far can be summarized as threatening people with hell every chapter, criticizing the first chapter of John every couple chapters because of Christendom's trinity doctrine, every now and then justifying Mohammed on something and every few chapters telling often inaccurate reframed summaries of events in the Pentateuch, books on the kings and gospels (as well as gnostic infancy gospel and occult testament of Solomon) I get that people are raised with it in violently devout nations and cultures but it's still baffling how over a billion people could respect this thing. I think I'm just going to have to attribute it to demonic generational curses and/or infection from the Kaaba stone. If anyone has any comments on Islam and/or the Quran as far as insight or experiences witnessing I'd love to receive input.

God Pill: Some yrs back I was incarcerated within a complex that was set up to De-Radicalise Muslims, (Dont ask). The whole Prison was designed around a Mosque! A Mosque with the most upmarket facilities, rows of cubicles for foot washing etc, While there, I asked the resident Imam for a copy of the Quran, he replied as long as you promise to not put it under any other scripture. After a brief evenings perusal I demoted it to the bin!

Honestly as a religious tome it's so meagre that I've learned much more about Islam as a teen reading the society's mankind's search for god book than from this that faith's highest source material.

I found that book useful in meeting Sikh's: Also there were other worthy quotes and advice in that book! I havn't the book now but I remember trying to memorise the book's quote on the improbability of life just happening! Did you ever come across the societies peice on Sir Isaac Newton and his Orrery?

I've read watchtower articles on newton but it's been years I'd have to refresh.

Agreed there is utility in familiarity in understanding/empathizing with people for ministry activity and groundwork. Sikhism is the Muslim/Hindu hybrid faith right? Interesting.

Years ago I tried reading the Quran as well as the book of Mormon and the Hindu Bhagavad gita. I didn't make it very far in any of them. I have a very low tolerance for BS. Although, it might be worth the effort to plow through the Quran if one is in an Islamic community and wishes to reason with them using Mohamud's scribblings as a starting point.

All things to all men right? The Orrery was Newton's reply to the Royal Societies rebuke of Creation, 'It just happened' Ok Newton has a brass cog working replicant of the universe. On his return to the Royal Society He unviels his model, Wow who created this? 'No one' he replied 'it just happened'. The amount of times I looked for opportunity to relate this....so thanks God Pill.

Yep. Paul set the standard. A large toolbox, that's one thing I enjoy about reading Aristotle on and off you can see the influence on people's mindsets over centuries even second, third, fourth hand on your contemporaries. Knowing a broad range of religious, cultural and philosophic foundations makes us better able to adapt and predict or even pick up observational hints on people that may aid our approach.

They are certainly garbage. The hassle is real.

I would guess it is inspired but not inspired by Jehovah but his enemy. Plus humans do enjoy tradition, respect for the “family” way of doing things. Both of those things when based on godly truth would be a great incentive to stick to the truth but they were perverted and probably inspired by Satan.

it could also save one’s life if one found oneself in the unlikely situation of being held captive by a gang of muslims.

@The God Pill My husband, who is Armenian, went through Armenian private school in Aleppo and the govt of Syria mandated that even the private schools had to teach Quran literacy. He said the same thing- that it was just nonsense.

Yes, i believe so.

another factoid, some pieces of information i gathered over the years about Islam- it was The Catholic Church that organized the Arab tribes into a common religion in order to unite the tribes to go up against Jerusalem. Originally it was Mohammad’s grandfather who was groomed to be the “prophet”. This attempt failed; his father was unsuitable so it fell upon Mohammed to become prophet- this was successful.

Alberto Riveira's testimony? I remember that from a few years back was watching a YouTube slideshow of a chick tract based on his stories called the godfathers after the meeting for field service this morning. How do you think the Vatican will utilize/maneuver Islam in the future?

I have no clue. Muhammad is clearly the most obvious false prophet in all of human history. I love David Wood's videos about Islam. He's a trinitarian, so there's that, and he also tried to murder his father with a hammer once. He actually spent some time in prison for it, but he found Jesus. Now he's seemingly better. I still watch his videos on Islam because he has obviously done his homework on the subject. He probably knows more about Islam than most Muslims. Despite his past as a psychopath, I like David. Hopefully he doesn't try to murder anyone else with a hammer.

I've read the Qur'an. (As an FYI to some - The Qur’an is scripture from god (Allah), given to the prophet Muhammad, through the angel Gabriel, which was revealed over the course of 23 years.

I'd also recommend other "books" that should be read in addition to the Qur'an - the Hadith and Sunnah The Hadiths are a record of the sayings of the prophet Muhammad, and the Sunnahs are the traditions and practices of the prophet Mohammad., and traditions and practices of which he approved. These two writings are a primary source of Islamic teachings and customs. They also offer incredible insight to tradition and legal customs of Islam. They were, to say the least, eye-opening.
