Make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them.—Matt. 28:19.
If you are the one who studied with the new disciple, how thrilling for you to witness that one’s baptism! (1 Thess. 2:19, 20) Newly baptized disciples are fine “letters of recommendation,” not just for those who studied with them but also for the whole congregation. (2 Cor. 3:1-3) It is very good to see that in a four year period, on average, some 10,000,000 Bible studies have been reported every month worldwide. And during those same years, on average, over 280,000 got baptized each year as Jehovah’s Witnesses and new disciples of Jesus Christ. How can we help more of those millions of Bible students to get baptized? As long as Jehovah is patiently allowing people the time and opportunity to become Christ’s disciples, we want to do all we can to help them progress to baptism as quickly as possible. Time is fast running out!—1 Cor. 7:29a; 1 Pet. 4:7. w20.10 6 ¶1-2

Your lips speak lies

July 24th, 2021

384.jpg
It has been a year and a half since the pandemic turned the world upside-down and inside-out. And the Governing Body of Jehovah’s Witnesses has done their part to overturn the cart—no pun intended.

Bethel did not merely comply with government-imposed lockdowns; no, they did more! Watchtower representatives have actually boasted that they were out in front—imposing their own stringent lockdowns before the civil authorities even ordered it. And apparently, they are intent on keeping JW’s shut up in their homes even now as everything is opened up. Even though stores and offices, churches, and schools have reopened and life is back to “normal”, Jehovah’s Witnesses remain locked out of their Kingdom halls (as of 2022 the Kingdom Halls are reopened along with Zoom) and forbidden from even standing on a street corner or visiting an interested person in their home. And while government authorities in America are pushing a massive door-to-door vaccination campaign Jehovah’s Witnesses are not permitted to visit their neighbors. Strange days, these!

Stranger still, while the Governing Body is keen to give frequent “updates” on the pandemic—regularly reporting on the slowly mounting death toll to heighten the fear and justify their tyrannical lockdown—at the same time, the Watchtower is pretending that nothing has changed. Take as evidence the May 2021 Watchtower article entitled: Maintain a Positive Attitude Toward Your Ministry. For an organization that prides itself on publishing spiritual food at the proper time, the information is presented as though Jehovah’s Witnesses were still going about their ministry as before. It is bizarre. For instance, the following excerpt is taken from paragraphs three and five:
But in other parts of the earth, publishers find the preaching work to be more of a challenge; people are seldom at home, and those who are at home may show little interest in the Bible… Many Witnesses find it increasingly difficult to contact people in their homes. Some publishers live in areas where there are many high-security apartment buildings or gated communities. Other publishers can go from door to door without any interference, but they find few people at home. Still other publishers preach in rural or remote areas where few people live. The publishers may cover great distances just to try to contact one householder —who may not even be at home! If we face these types of challenges, we must not give up. What can we do to overcome such obstacles and have a productive ministry?

Granted, articles appearing in the magazines are written many months before they are published, but surely this article was written during the past 18 months. Why then pretend that nothing has changed? Wouldn’t it be more beneficial to offer practical suggestions for writing letters and doing telephone solicitations? Maybe I am wrong. Maybe this article was written a couple of years ago. But if that is the case, why publish it now?
Bending reality to manipulate someone is called gaslighting and that is exactly what the Watchtower is doing. It is gaslighting Jehovah’s Witnesses. (See definition of gaslighting.)

The Watchtower condemns itself. The reality-benders claim that “publishers can go from door to door without any interference, but they find few people at home.” How not true!

Since the lockdown began 18 months ago hundreds of millions of people have been at home who ordinarily would not have been. As a result of thousands of stores and businesses having been closed for a time many employers are now rethinking their business models and are allowing employees to work from home either full or part-time even though offices have reopened. It is the perfect opportunity for Jehovah’s Witnesses to reach people with a message of comfort and hope. And even though there are no government restrictions against knocking on someone’s door the masters of Jehovah’s Witnesses do not permit it.
The gaslighting continues in paragraph nine:
In order to contact people who are hard to reach at home, some publishers have changed the location where they preach. For example, street work and the use of literature carts have proved to be effective methods to meet people who live in large apartment buildings where door-to-door witnessing is not permitted. This allows the Witnesses to speak face-to-face with people who may otherwise be unreachable. Also, many publishers have found that people are more likely to converse or to accept literature in public parks, markets, and business districts.

Cart witnessing ought to be showcased in the Warwick museum as part of theocratic history. It is true, large apartments and condominiums are inaccessible—lockdowns notwithstanding. So, why stop the cart witnessing? Even health experts have admitted, perhaps reluctantly, that the transmission of the Covid virus outdoors is very low. This BBC article explains why that is the case. Supposedly, only a “handful” of cases have been traced to outdoor transmission. Being struck by lightning is much more likely. There is virtually no risk of transmitting or contracting Covid outdoors. That is a fact. Jehovah’s Witnesses could continue the cart witnessing work without worry of being infected or infecting others. Perhaps wear a mask for show, to put people at ease.

But, no, reality doesn’t even factor in. The GB has made the claim that they have consulted with health experts to get their input in formulating the organization’s policy. Really? And these “experts” did not inform Bethel that the risk of spreading Covid outdoors is virtually zero?

In truth, the only thing preventing Jehovah’s Witnesses from “speaking face-to-face with people who may otherwise be unreachable” is the dictates of the Governing Body. While acknowledging the effectiveness of having a presence on a public street, and pretending that nothing has changed, the leadership of the Watchtower is openly exposed as standing in opposition to what had previously been acknowledged as the work of Christ. Finally, consider what is stated in the last paragraph:
Jehovah views all human life as precious. He gives us the privilege of working along with his Son in gathering people from all nations before the end of this system comes. Our preaching work could be likened to a rescue mission. And we are like members of a rescue team sent to free people trapped in a mine. Although only a few miners may be found alive, the work done by all the rescuers is valuable. The same is true of the work we do in our ministry. We do not know how many people will yet be rescued from Satan’s system. But Jehovah can use any one of us to help them.

The Watchtower says it is all hands on deck for the great rescue work Jehovah is sponsoring. Time is short. Life is precious. The ministry is life-saving. It is the will of God. Jehovah will use you as a minister if you make yourself available.

Meanwhile, in one of the JW Broadcast “updates” last year a Governing Body member berated JW’s who might not be living in fear. He cited a Proverb about the foolish person who presses ahead and ignores the danger and pays the price. Life is precious. That is why the Governing Body will not allow JW’s to stand on a street corner, knock on a door, visit a householder whom they personally know, or meet together in a Kingdom hall. It is a great rescue operation underway spearheaded by the Lord Jesus Christ himself, but it is far too risky and foolhardy to engage in it.
Dear Jehovah’s Witnesses: You are being gaslighted!

For your palms are polluted with blood
And your fingers with error.
Your lips speak lies, and your tongue mutters unrighteousness.
No one calls out for righteousness,
And no one goes to court in truthfulness.
They trust in unreality and speak what is worthless.
They conceive trouble and give birth to what is harmful.

Will Love of Neighbor Move You to Speak?

Thursday, April 7

All things . . . that you want men to do to you, you also must do to them.—Matt. 7:12.

What are some ways in which we follow the Golden Rule in our ministry? We treat each householder as an individual. We show respect for the householder’s home and other property. We endeavor to participate in the ministry at times when householders are most likely to be at home and receptive. And we introduce our message in a way that is well-received in the local territory. Many benefits come from treating those in our territory as we would like to be treated. By acting in a kind and considerate manner, we are letting our light shine, are underscoring the value of Scriptural principles, and are giving glory to our heavenly Father. We may attract more people to the truth by the way we approach them. Whether those to whom we preach accept the Kingdom message or not, we have the satisfaction of knowing that we are doing our best to accomplish our ministry.

COMMENTARY

Jehovah’s Witnesses have work to do. They truly are on a mission to preach the Kingdom and teach as many as are teachable. But time is limited. At some point the worldwide preaching work will come to an end.

The end will come, not because the Watchtower will have determined it has accomplished the work, but because the conditions will suddenly change, making it impossible for Jehovah’s Witnesses to carry on their ministry as before. The sudden and unexpected loss of the harvest is what the opening chapter of the Hebrew prophecy of Joel is all about.
Joel-locust-420x300-300x214.png

This unexpected development will come as quite a jolt. The reason being, although Jehovah’s Witnesses have always been in expectation of the end of the present system, their expectations are based upon the way the Watchtower has laid it out. The great tribulation begins when Babylon the Great is destroyed. That is what is supposed to happen next.

However, what if events do not unfold in the way the Watchtower has repeatedly stated? No doubt it will cause many of Jehovah’s Witnesses to stumble and give way to doubt and uncertainty. Jesus foretold this very thing, when he said: “Then, too, many will be stumbled and will betray one another and will hate one another.”

Make no mistake, those who will be stumbled and hate one another are those who presently are in the truth, who greet each other as “brother” and “sister.” In Mark’s version of Jesus’ so-called Olivet Discourse, Jesus stated: “Furthermore, brother will deliver brother over to death, and a father a child, and children will rise up against parents and have them put to death.”

Surely, this aspect of the culmination of all things is not in evidence, is it? Is Jesus foretelling that people of the world will turn upon each other? No, of course not. The prophecy relates to Christians turning on each other. This is something that can only happen when societies collapse into totalitarian rule. With the Watchtower out of the picture and the faith banned, Satan will move family members to betray their own kin who are true to their faith.

Having a glimpse of what is to come, how ought that affect your relationship with your brothers and sisters now, assuming that you are associated in a congregation? Well, how might the Golden Rule apply? Would we want to be told if your were unaware of an impending danger? Surely you would. Here is what a Watchtower from yesteryear entitled Can You Be True To God, Yet Hide the Facts? states on the matter:
WHAT results when a lie is let go unchallenged? Does not silence help the lie to pass as truth, to have freer sway to influence many, perhaps to their serious harm?

What happens when misconduct and immorality are allowed to go unexposed and uncondemned? Is this not like covering over an infection without any effort to cure it and keep it from spreading?
When persons are in great danger from a source that they do not suspect or are being misled by those they consider their friends, is it an unkindness to warn them? They may prefer not to believe the warning. They may even resent it. But does that free one from the moral responsibility to give that warning?

If you are among those seeking to be faithful to God, the issues these questions raise are vital for you today. Why? Because God’s servants in every period of history have had to face up to the challenge these issues present. They have had to expose falsehood and wrongdoing and warn people of dangers and deception—not just in a general way, but in a specific way, in the interest of pure worship. It would have been far easier to keep silent or say only what people wanted to hear. But faithfulness to God and love of neighbor moved them to speak. They realized that “better is a revealed reproof than a concealed love.”
— Wt. January 15, 1974

The challenges that will confront Jehovah’s Witnesses in the near future will be unlike anything you have ever faced. It would be far easier for you to keep silent now and just let what is going to happen, happen. True, many JW’s will not want to believe it. They will likely even resent your implying the Watchtower is wrong. You could even wind up facing a judicial committee. But love for our neighbor ought to move us to speak. In time they may even thank you.

On a practical note: Perhaps in a non-confrontational manner simply bring up a discussion on the book of Joel and point out some of the incongruities that Jehovah’s Witnesses accept. (Tip: Don’t use words like absurd, nonsense, ridiculous or preposterous when discussing the WT’s teaching.)

One of Jehovah’s Witnesses recently informed me that she has had some success by simply bring up a topic as if it is something she has been thinking about. She has found that others were interested and quick to agree.

Another suggestion, why not write a letter to your local branch or Brooklyn Bethel? Ask them to explain something that you already know the answer to. Perhaps you might get someone at Bethel thinking. Of course, they probably will not answer you directly, but they will forward your letter to your congregation elders and have them deal with you. By that backdoor method, though, you can then engage your local elders and point out the fact that the WT has no answer. Elders are people too, you know. And sometimes they can be very reasonable.

The Watchtower and the disgusting thing

October 13th, 2021

Since the WT has, it seems, become the mouthpiece of the scarlet colored wild beast, the disgusting thing that causes desolation, and the constant feature (the public ministry) has essentially been removed, are we not then actually seeing the fulfillment of Daniel 12:11. Are we not in the last days? Is not the disgusting thing standing in a holy place? Matt. 24:15. Jesus said when you catch sight of the disgusting thing standing in a holy place. Really, are we not catching sight of the disgusting thing standing in God’s organization, it is quite perceptible, public, isn’t it? Like you said, in lockstep together.
It is good that a few people are at least asking the right questions. Ironically, the majority of Jehovah’s Witnesses are not. And that is because of the Watchtower’s deluding influence, or as the older version of the NWT worded it—an operation of error.
For example, the Watchtower has deluded Jehovah’s Witnesses into believing that the constant feature was removed during World War Two; yet, the holy place that is destined to be trampled by a disgusting thing is said to be Christendom. I have written about these many discrepancies in numerous essays.

It is tempting to believe that the disgusting thing is now standing where it ought not. A couple of years ago who would have ever imagined the Watchtower would shut down the public ministry and shutter every Kingdom Hall in the world? And then vigorously promote such a controversial thing as the UN’s vaccination scheme? Still, though, it is self-induced. It is not as though the governments ordered the Watchtower to close down. The UN doesn’t have the authority to do such a thing anyway. And even if national governments had imposed restraints Bethel has always prided itself on defending and legally establishing the good news. Even now most churches, synagogues, and mosques are open, but not Kingdom Halls (as of 2022 the Kingdom Halls are reopened along with Zoom). Something is very, very wrong with that. The Governing Body has warned that it is too dangerous and foolhardy to venture outside. Crazy!

All the while the Watchtower is pretending that nothing has changed. Zoom meetings are the same as the real thing. Sitting at home writing letters is just as effective as going out and making face-to-face contact with people and teaching them in their homes. In fact, the Governing Body regularly boasts about how successful the virtual ministry is. That being the case, it does not appear as if the Christian sanctuary has been thrown down and the constant feature removed.

Jehovah’s Witnesses certainly ought to be concerned that the Governing Body has essentially mandated vaccinations. In this, they are, as you say, in lockstep with the UN’s World Health Organization. The WT has stipulated that all full-time servants must take the injections. And now circuit overseers are making the rounds exhorting the flock to follow the example of the worldwide Bethel family. This is rank apostasy—attaching arbitrary conditions to a Christian’s service to God.

The propaganda machine declares mRNA injections to be “safe and effective.” It is repeated over and over— “safe and effective.” The vaccines are neither safe nor effective. Hundreds of thousands of people have been gravely injured and many thousands have died as a direct result of the experimental injections. And of the millions who have taken the shots, a large percentage have fallen ill with Covid anyway. Not only that, hundreds of millions of vaccinated persons are incubators for Covid variants. Maybe in that sense, the injections are “effective” as a tool of depopulation.

The Watchtower is echoing this lie that the vaccines are safe and effective. It would have Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that the reports of death and injury are wild conspiracy theories. Instead of allowing individuals to make their own choice in this matter, the Governing Body is threatening to disfellowship elders who may voice strong opinions about taking an injection that might cripple or even kill the recipient. No one is coercing the Watchtower to take this extreme position. Claiming we must obey Caesar is a lie. There is no law that requires every citizen to submit themselves to a potentially lethal medical procedure. And even if there were, Caesar does not own our souls. Jehovah does. The point is, the Watchtower is under no compulsion to commit millions of trusting JW’s to this global vaccination scheme. They have willingly sold the sheep to the buyers.

Jesus connected the disgusting thing standing in a holy place with the great tribulation. And immediately prior to the great tribulation Jesus said that nation will rise against nation, kingdom against kingdom; there will be food shortages and earthquakes here and there and that these things are the beginning of pangs of distress.

The Watchtower, of course, has deluded Jehovah’s Witnesses into imagining that the beginning pangs of distress began over a century ago. Supposedly we are living in the last days of the last days and soon will come the last day of the last days. Meanwhile, all of the nuclear powers are preparing for war. There are numerous hotspots around the globe that may become flashpoints for setting off a global conflagration.
And after years of central banks churning out trillions and trillions, now inflation is ripping through the economies of the world making food shortages inevitable in the near future. A fuse has been lit.

Another aspect of the Watchtower’s far-reaching deluding influence has to do with the appearance of the scarlet-colored wild beast. Back during the Second World War Nathan Knorr gave a public address entitled: Peace—Can it Last? The new president of the Watchtower back then predicted that the League of Nations would reappear after the war in fulfillment of Revelation regarding the scarlet-colored beast emerging from the abyss in the form of the eighth king.

Low and behold! As soon as the war ended the victors set up the United Nations, and unlike with the League, this time the leading nation of the world—the United States of America—became a member.

Even though it has been 80 years since Knorr predicted the one-hour reign of the eighth king would be very short-lived, the Watchtower still touts its prophetic prowess. In reality, the League of Nations was a powerless institution. So is the United Nations—although that is changing. Even so, the beast has not emerged from the abyss. That is because it has not plunged into the abyss. The Watchtower’s predictive adroitness is, in reality, a reflection of the powerful lying signs and wonders and unrighteous deceptions that make up the operation of Satan aimed at Christians to deceive them into believing Christ has already come.

At some point in the not-to-distant future civilization is going to come crashing down. From the wreckage will emerge the eighth king and then the trampling will begin.

I received a letter today. It was way better than the last letter, really nicely done. It actually had the Sister's name and said what hall she was from. But again, it pointed me to jw.org. There was an email address with it though. I may reply to that email with a link to Robert's site. What do you figure?

I just wanted to highlight what I feel is an important teaching from the Watchtower that I have always believed and did my best to follow. It is a challenge but can our conscience be clean if we do any less? It is their own teaching that condemns them.

I think it’s pearls before swine as the majority of brainwashed JW’s “will not follow links to an apostate‘s website!” (Imagine David Splane pointing a finger at you there).

If I may speak for myself, I went looking when I had seen enough I couldn’t reconcile with either the Bible or my conscience. People will start looking when they are ready to hear the truth.

I'd first test the waters lightly in that regard. Perhaps ask certain questions carefully & take it from there.
