Tell me something, what is a cricketer? I understand that’s what Andrew Symonds was. I ask because my oldest daughter has been living in Australia since 2010 but when her visa expired in 2020 she‘s been back to the states then back to Australia. I’ve just been kind of fascinated with the culture over there. My grandson was born there, although I’ve never seen him but I saw a video on Twitter of him doing a skit, with his Australian accent, is that what you call it? Anyway, long story about my daughter….who left the WT organization the year she graduated from high school here in the US.
Cricket is Australia's Baseball. Nothing like Baseball but played with a bat and a ball and involves hit and run.
The longer version of the Game can last up to 5 days. Purists like Sola and I like the long version as it's extremely tactical and gruelling.
For someone like you a 20/20 Game of Cricket would be the one to watch to get a feel for the game. It's over in 3 hours and involves a lot of big hitting.
It's hard to explain cricket in writing. ...especially to someone who hasn't grown up around it. It's very much an acquired taste and a lot of Americans find it boring.
It's the main summer sport in England, Australia, South Africa, NZ, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe and the West Indies.
Edit....you asked what a Cricketer was not what Cricket is. My bad. Don't worry Sola has got you covered.
