The Young Jesus

Watched this movie recently. It's several years old at this point, and a lot of it is probably made up since we don't know a lot about Jesus when he was a boy, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. One of the accounts really did happen. Jesus went missing one day. His parents went out looking for him. Then they found him in the temple. There was another scene at the beginning which almost certainly did not happen. It was taken from one of those extra books that was not included in the Bible. I forget which one, but I think the movie version of this account portrayed it better because Jesus wouldn't just kill a random child. In the movie it was actually a demon who killed the child and then blamed it on Jesus.

As the story went, some jerk kid tried to attack Jesus or a friend of his. Jesus stood up and said, "You will go no further!" Then the kid dropped dead. LOL. Sorry I don't know why I think that's funny but it is. That really just didn't fit the character of Christ, so the movie changed it. The cross they use for crucifixions was also inaccurate. But it really had its moments. Like this one part where Satan or a demon came into the room and only Jesus could see him. He was all like, "You're no child." The demon guy exclaimed. "Who are you?"

A few parts were unintentionally hilarious. Satan tried to reach out to choke young Jesus. Then Jesus straight up snapped on him. "Don't touch me! Don't ever touch me!." Demon guy was shocked. Maybe I shouldn't mess with this kid. I lost it.

Then he kept calling Jesus Angel Child, which is more fitting than I think they realized. If you haven't seen it the whole film is on Netflix, and I believe someone uploaded it to Youtube if you don't have Netflix. Worth watching IMO. My favorite Jesus movie though is still The Life of Jesus. It's on Youtube too.

What I find interesting about Jesus, is that at the age of 12 he spent with the priests in the temple almost a week: "Now his parents were accustomed to go from year to year to Jerusalem for the festival of the Passover. And when he was 12 years old, they went up according to the custom of the festival. When the days of the festival were over and they were returning, the boy Jesus remained behind in Jerusalem, and his parents did not notice it. Assuming that he was in the group traveling together, they went a day’s journey and then began to search for him among the relatives and acquaintances. But not finding him, they returned to Jerusalem and made a diligent search for him. Well, after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers and listening to them and asking them questions." - Luke 2:41-45. So, he must have been fed by the priests and slept in the temple, not to mention the willingness (and also appreciation they had in discussing the spiritual topics with the young boy! Can you imagine how many things they must have discussed together - for at least 6 days!)
