  • Poverty-stricken people and families might go without proper housing, clean water, healthy food, and medical attention.
  • The U.S. poverty income threshold for a family of four is $26,500 per year.

I'm wondering if the reason for calling it "The Order" isn't because they have to call it a religious order, something akin to a Catholic nunnery or monastery, in order to legally withhold wages from their workers. But it does seem strange that they have so wholeheartedly embraced that term. Seems like they could legally be considered a "religious order" without constantly using such a Catholic sounding term.

"The Order may invite you to sign a final vow of obedience and poverty and continue your service..."

They missed one provision at the end. Once they've squeezed every ounce of vital energy out of you and milked you like a cow for your entire life, and it looks like they might have to take care of you in sickness or old age, the "Order" can and will kick you to the curb like a used tissue. Once that takes place you may not complain or ask the "Order" for anything.

Don't think it's likely?

"However, since you are serving on a provisional basis, any major illness or serious preexisting condition may result in the discontinuation of your membership in the Order, even before the conclusion of your assigned period of service"

Oh and from the first document:

Re: the reinstatement of the AAA

"No doubt you share our heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the Governing Body for extending such a thoughtful provision over the past two years"

All HAIL SKROOB...I mean the Governing Body, our benevolent master and ruler.
Yeah never mind Jehovah or his King, Christ.

The WBTS...the new Catholic Church.

It's legalese. In the first sentence they say ...the Worldwide Order of Special Full-Time servants of Jehovah's Witnesses ("the Order") invites you...

The use it as an abbreviation. It's like writing an article about Klaus Schwab and the "World Economic Forum". You use WEF as the abbreviation so you don't have to spell it out constantly

E.G.
So Klaus Schwab of the World Economic Forum (WEF) is an absolute dictator who says you will own nothing...
In regard to this, the WEF's goals are complete control over the...

Plus, when you think about how much we bashed Catholic priests for requiring celebacy and they couldn’t marry unless they left the priesthood. That contract basically says the same thing. If you’re even courting you are out. And, if you get seriously ill, your out. I don’t know but I find that strange and opposite of what we actually teach from the bible.

I find that strange too. When people work all their lives in a secular job, not only do they get paid, but they also get a pension for their old age. Bethel workers who are dismissed due to age or health issues will have no resources unless they can get family or congregation to help them. And if they do receive from that quarter, they'll probably feel like a burden.

I know a Bethelite to whom that happened to. It wasn't pretty. He was approaching his late 50s at the time. What a time to start your life all over again. Pension? Fuhgeddaboudit, as the mob would say. The only upside is that he was truly godly and put his faith in Jah so he would be taken care of, I'm sure. Couldn't tell you how it actually turned out though as I lost track of him after he was turfed by the Canadian Bethel.

I do too. He had been factory overseer, tons of responsibility. Only difference is that I believe he left voluntarily. But he was living with his sister and flipping burgers for a while.
