This is exactly what I was talking about when I wrote in another post how WT likes to compare questioning anything the GB/WT/Elders to Korah's rebellion against Moses. It is absolutely their favorite. And if you don't give it a second thought it's pretty convincing. Here's the problem though:
The entire nation, 2 nations actually, Israel and Egypt just witnesses the 10 plagues, with Moses taking the lead, the pillar guiding them to the Red Sea, and Moses splitting the Red Sea. The miracles Moses performed were indisputable proof he was backed by Jehovah. When Moses said "who shall I say is sending me", and Jehovah gave him the power to perform those miracles, this was exactly what he was asking for, proof he was sent by God, and it had proof that could not be honestly questioned. This is also what Paul meant when he said they "are sitting themselves in the temple of God, and making themselves gods."
So the comparison of Korah's rebellion is perhaps the biggest "false equivalency" when it comes to this subject. It is the foundation of their arrogance! It is how they justify calling "question men" apostasy. And it is always the favorite weapon of religious fanatics whenever their congregations question them! Korah and proof Jehovah was backing Moses, and he had no justifiable question in that regard.
The bible calls Moses the meekest man on the earth. When Jehovah told him to go to Egypt, Moses was basically saying to Jehovah, "I'm not going and facing Pharaoh and the Jews unless I have proof you sent me." Imagine if the GB showed that kind of humility and asked Jehovah to give them proof he was backing them, instead what we get is their word on it, just like any used car sales men we get, "trust me, God is with us." "Trust us look at the growth in the org", whiling ignoring all the DF"ing, the CSA scandal, the UN partnership, etc ect, NO! Just "Trust us, we have God's backing." (And if you question us we will quietly DF you and no one will be allowed to know why, and if anyone finds out, it will be for apostasy, which no one else will dare question further, because they all know questioning men IS apostasy!)
