The Commentary on James

Ms_Ladyblue referred to a brother who was offended by negative comments and asked: "tell me if I’m mistaken…when we read the Bible aren’t there several times we read of ‘negative’ comments"
So I provided a couple of examples where Jesus himself made negative comments, one where he called his own disciples "faithless and twisted", and the other where he called Peter Satan.
@Zane

Yes, and that’s exactly how I understand these comments in those verses when God’s servants are expressing negative comments about another servant who no doubt is doing wrong, from Jehovah’s standpoint.

We do well to remember what 2 Timothy 3: 16, 17 “All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, so that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work.”

Now I ask the question: Weren’t the examples you gave stated in the scriptures? …inspired by who?
And are we going to find fault with God for having these negative comments written down in his word?

I think we know the answers to those questions. 😊

I'm still very new to the forum too, but I cannot tell you how many times I've read the comments and think,"See? I'm not going crazy. That's exactly what I feel!). I have no one to bounce ideas off of now, so this forum is a true blessing. I am holding on for dear life. Thank you all! :)

Yes, it truly has been a blessing. Just when you think you’re lost after leaving WT and there’s no where else in the world to go where you feel good about anything, somehow we find ourselves here and have a common connection.

It’s nice to have you here @Sundial. And no, you’re not going crazy…it’s the world around us going crazy. 😊

During a public talk years ago, an elder read a scripture with Jesus replying to the Pharisees and he pointedly referred to it as sarcasm. He then went on to explain the spiritual condition of the Pharisees and why it was appropriate for Jesus to reply to them in such a way. No matter what Jesus said, they were going to argue and he was dishing a little back to them.
In a similar vein, whether inspired by Jehovah or of his own accord, Elijah had a choice response to the priests of Baal when their god seemed to be delayed.

Thank you, that makes a lot of sense now 😊

sometimes it’s hard to see the context of a post, especially if it only contains scripture.

I can understand why some on the forum might be sensitive to some of the comments made. I know of a brother that use to be on this forum who got off because of the negative talk about WT.

Well we can’t bury our head in the sand forever. It is what it is…So they should think about this, and tell me if I’m mistaken…when we read the Bible aren’t there several times we read of ‘negative’ comments that the prophets spoke about concerning the lawless deeds of the leadership of Jehovah’s people and what about the apostle Paul who spoke about those ones in his letters as well.

As long as we’re speaking what is factual and true why let this be disturbing for them.
Of course it’s not healthy to constantly be ranting about all the different atrocities that the WT has done but I guess we need to be balanced. And naturally we would have to take into consideration how Jehovah feels about this.

Maybe we could think about how others feel when too much hostility is being expressed toward the organization and therefore be too much for some to be exposed to and may take awhile for some to adjust because of learning about all the wrongs that are taking place. Don’t get me wrong I can get on my high horse and go to ranting too.

But it helps if I keep reminding myself of the one thing Jehovah will no doubt do very soon now because his word says; “Vengeance is mine; I will repay’, says Jehovah.”
Well said. Something I could work on.

@Ms_ladyblue I can understand why some on the forum might be sensitive to some of the comments made.

I’ve given this a lot of prayer and mental attention, and I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s not wrong to point out that the Gov Body, as a self-appointed “faithful and discreet slave” feeds JWs spiritual filth, that the Gov Body is indisputably in deep spiritual darkness, awaiting everlasting judgment according to the multitudes of prophetic denunciations found throughout the bible.

I don’t believe that this Gov Body or the disembodied corporation it represents, is led in anyway by Jehovah or Jesus Christ, but is led exclusively by wicked men in expensive suits.

it’s ok to occasionally analyze these aforementioned facts, and acknowledge them in our comments. It doesn’t mean it’s negative or sinful to do that. It’s reality.

Many here including myself have put a lot on the line by forsaking Watchtower and its Gov Body as a source of spiritual guidance, many have to tread carefully, some have risked it all just to be here and to know what lies ahead.

In the coming days those risks will only deepen as the Satan, through the Watchtower corporation and its Gov Body, intensifies persecution of the chosen ones.

In his book, Ray Franz explains why he was removed. It had not received the imprimatur of the GB. As it had already started to be printed, rather than throwing away the copies already made, it was decided to make it a study book. As publications were still sold at that time and not as voluntary offerings, this was money that the Society could easily collect.
