We know that as Christians,we are to have genuine love among ourselves as a disciple of Christ. This is not to say we love out of a sense of duty, it’s not primarily an emotion but a decision of the will leading to action…genuine love.
Because we have an inherited tendency towards selfishness, we need reminders to show love to one another.

Granted, WT has instilled in many of us a distorted way of showing love, for example saying that we’re showing love to those DF by not speaking to them and families not speaking to them….or even helping them spiritually. Is that really showing love? I think not. As many of you know we need to show genuine love in ways that godly principles direct.

I don’t want to have much more to say because I would love to hear your input on this. Our love for one another involves family, friends, brothers and sisters. Not to mention husbands and wives.
Now that we’re approaching a crucial time period of the end of this old world, Jehovah stresses this important quality of love, the “greatest of these is love.”

“The end of all things has drawn close….Above all things, have intense love for one another.” 1 Peter 4:7,8
Peter’s words are rich in meaning for us during this critical time period. I hope that you will have positive words concerning this to help us with, “so as to incite to love and fine works”

the whole time i was in the org i felt love from certain individuals and i loved certain individuals very much, those within the circle of my closest friends and more too.

Sometimes i could sense people holding back their love because of how easily and quickly relationships in WT can be ripped away and also because WT promotes a policing culture.

The relationships i have cultivated here are free of the ever present threat of shunning and free of the constant policing behavior so these relationships will only grow in their love. I just wish we could be all together in person. i love everyone here very much. I just wish i could do more.

@Asadour

I’ve felt the same exact way. I also wish we could all be together in person, but just think, one day that will be a reality! We have so much to look forward to and I definitely want to be there. I believe that our love for Jehovah and following the example Jesus set in showing godly love will definitely help us.

You are definitely a beautiful sister on this forum among many others who show that genuine love. 💕

All I really know about love is that I need to show more of it in my moment-by-moment living. Because of this, I pray to Jehovah to "grant me the ability to love more". I not only pray to have more love in my heart, but I pray for more faith, patience and humility. I have noticed that I have been tested as to if I really want those things to increase in my life and so far, I think my grade comes in at around a B-minus or a C-plus in my response to those tests. But who am I to judge, right? Anyway, yes, Love Is Awesome and I need to have more of it in my heart. God's will be done!!

Love in the English language is a simple 4 letters but the meaning of it is so much more complex. I guess what I think about when I think of genuine love is the way Jehovah and his son, Jesus have expressed their love toward us. They have principles that spring from love but individually they also take into account each person’s unique needs. For example, at Mark 7:32-33 when Jesus healed the deaf man with a speech impediment. Jesus took him aside privately, away from the crowd. The account does not say why but I can imagine that possibly the man may have been sensitive to being a spectacle since someone who suffers from deafness may feel embarrassed by not being able to hear and the resulting speech issues that generally accompanies hearing loss. So, it seems very kind that Jesus healed him privately away from the crowd.

The account of the Phoenician woman at Matthew 15:21-28, Jesus showed that he was moved by the display of her faith and even though he had been sent to the the lost sheep of the house of Israel, he ultimately did heal her daughter. So, Jesus was not a stickler for “legalism.”

And, then of course the most difficult expression of love, but yet it is required of us as disciples of Christ, is to show love for our enemies, as per Matthew 5:43-48: “You heard that it was said: ‘You must love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ However, I say to you: Continue to love your enemies and to pray for those who persecute you, so that you may prove yourselves sons of your Father who is in the heavens, since he makes his sun rise on both the wicked and the good and makes it rain on both the righteous and the unrighteous. For if you love those loving you, what reward do you have? Are not also the tax collectors doing the same thing? And if you greet your brothers only, what extraordinary thing are you doing? Are not also the people of the nations doing the same thing? You must accordingly be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”

This is a great subject to meditate on and work on improving our expression of love for each other for our God, for Jesus and for our enemies.

Bible definition of love:

Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, [love] is not pompous, it is not inflated, it is not rude, it does not seek its own interests, it is not quick-tempered, it does not brood over injury, it does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. If there are prophecies, they will be brought to nothing; if tongues, they will cease; if knowledge, it will be brought to nothing. For we know partially and we prophesy partially, but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away. So faith, hope, love remain, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
1 Corinthians 13:4‭-‬10‭, ‬13
