2 Timothy 3:1-5

good morning, I am re-reading the July 2022 WT review and I notice that 2Tim 3:1-5 is applied to the 'world'.

My question: Isn't that written for those WITHIN the organization, like the rest of the Bible? "Outside" or "in the world" they've always done what they wanted, right?

If I consider that for instance the GB turns out to be increasingly lawless, lovers of money, lovers of themselves, more ruthless and (absolutely) not open to any agreement, then does this apply to those who are within the organization, or am I wrong

Guilt by association?

Guilt by association? Read Jer5:31. Only if you love it that way? Closes with interesting personal question "what Will you do when the end comes?"

Jer 5:31 asks"What will you do when the end comes". Difficult with language barrier. Please do persist with us here. Looking forward to Christ and pure language and setting matters straight. All best to you evw

Hi EVW, I am only guessing but I think that 2 Timothy 3:1-5 is likely referring mostly to people who are not true worshippers, although some are described as having an appearance of godliness while proving false to its power. Then, it says to turn away from them. In verses 6 and 7 it talks about men who slyly work their way into households and captivate weak women. And, these people are described as always learning and yet never able to come to an accurate knowledge of truth. So, that tells me that no doubt some may have some association with the christian congregation but are not really able to progress spiritually. Then in verse 8 it talks about them opposing the truth as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses. Jannes and Jambres likely refer to leading men in Pharoah’s Court and they were obviously not Israelites. So, all of these “hints” tell me that the description is about people in the world including some who have associated with the christian congregation but never made the changes necessary to become a follower of Christ.

The answer to this question you can be found in
2 Timothy chapter 2:20-26

The way that its written in chapters and verses is for modern day convenience of finding verses

In no way does it stop the idea of, what is being written

For context you have to start reading at 2 Timothy 2:20-26

There he clearly is talking about the Christian congregation

In the last days difficult times because of people like this within it

At least that's the way I understand it
