Age for Elders

Translation:

I understand that Jehovah's people, as a general rule, have to have a sheepish attitude. This is how more scriptures describe it. The sheep that are close to the shepherd follow him and all the others follow behind him. The problem is when pastors are bad. But the scriptures also talk about that. I have the opinion that the sheep that remain under the wings of the WT at present are little thinking sheep, zero insurers of all things, so that I understand myself, with little perspective of looking further than the ass of the sheep of forward. Who wants to examine something like that? One examines when one has a perspective of the countryside, of food less trampled by others, like a hill far from comfortable pastures, newly sprouted grass. Those where the dogs do not go because the shepherd's whistle is not heard. Until Jesus arrives it will be like this. Listening to his voice will be something intense and very personal, if water will quench all thirst. Something very different from the two-hour meeting sessions at diet time, in which you fall asleep and go to the bathroom to drink water as an excuse to wake up.

I remember there were many aspirants in their 20s in my congregation. You saw them idyllically greeting their favorite elders in Flanders style at every gathering. They used to look for reasons to accuse the less spiritual young people, according to them of course, and thus get points among the elderly. Look how I care about the congregation, they felt in their ambitious hearts. They were perfect lackeys, I must admit. It was no fun to be a woman surrounded by all that testosterone overflowing with the need for recognition. All endorsed by old people who liked to pay homage while we aspired to prepare the cakes for the commemoration or clean the lectern of the platform. The elder has asked me to clean the platform, sister, the would-be date with the favorite ministerial servant of the top elder in the congregation told you. I remember it and I'm immensely lazy. Don't pull out these threads, please, one wants to forget the circus!

Flanders style! How true👍

That was before the information age, when media had full control. Promoted all kinds of very unhealthy and damaging foods and products. Doctor's even promoted cigarettes.

I had to laugh today when I read part of the Watchtower study. Having in mind the “new direction” for elders now, note the introduction song: Beauty in Gray-Headedness

Ok, I won’t take the time or space to post the entire study but my thought is…here they go again…trying to gaslight us with information making it seem like they’re using qualified older mature men to fulfill their role of being an elder when, in reality they will be young men or boys ‘playing’ the role as an elder.

**Note this reminds me during the beginning of the pandemic they had these study articles discussing us going out in field service door to door, cart witnessing etc. I knew that wasn’t the reality. At first I just figured they hadn’t caught up yet but this went on for quite a while.
It blew my mind! I thought I was the only one feeling as I did until I came on Robert’s website. Whew!!

Now they’re doing it again with this new elder arrangement…gaslighting!

Here’s paragraph 1 of the study today:
“ALL of us need guidance in making life’s important decisions. We can obtain much of that guidance from elders and other mature Christians. If they are much older than we are, we should not automatically dismiss their advice as outdated. Jehovah wants us to learn from older ones. They have had more time than we have had to acquire experience, understanding, and wisdom.—Job 12:12.

There is no evidence that a lifetime spent, results in wisdom. In fact, if it takes that long to acquire a little wisdom, it’s an indicator of a misspent life. Yes, the Bible does use the analogy in that experience teaches us but clearly, if one is acting under a delusional belief, and grows “wise” in that, then it is no help at all. There is but one “wisdom” - the Word, and that Word is the epitome of the term “holistic” in all things - a mindset, a way of life. By comparison our 70 years or so accumulated ‘wisdom’ is negligible and this is the point watchtower ignores because its motive is otherwise. Our place is at the lowest table and our teacher is ‘understanding’. Therefore what we truly understand from the teachings of Christ is our “wisdom”. Somehow I do not think you will find it in a dedicated watchtower elder, no matter his age. To the contrary, compassion and understanding, in the Spirit, balance and kindness, is often more to be found in the elderly sister within the congregation - and her hair is usually dyed. 🤣
