August Watchtower

https://www.filemail.com/d/vinxigcfbcqojtx

The key article is Questions from Readers

Hope the link works

This appears to be the same Tagalog edition referenced by others in the ex-JW communities, and is a rough translation, not the official release. The jw.org site still hasn't posted this, insofar as I know.

For the conspiracy-minded, it IS possible that the Watchtower organization let this one "slip" out in order to find a leak in the organization. Makes sense, because the other language releases have yet to be posted. I couldn't find the August 2024 Tagalog translation Friday or Saturday, using the website, either, and the linked copy may be the same one that was hot-linked by someone in the ex-JW community.

This is the terrible... More control... :/
But at the same time... Things have changed. They have changed what they used to say about not even greeting the disfellowshipped brothers. Now you can greet them and even maybe invite them to the congregation, as long as they are not apostates. I think that this is very positive. I love it. Disfellowship can be really hard for some people. It's very sad. And at least changing that, there is some good. Some might say it's not too much, but I think it's good.
I always wondered why they had gone beyond the Scriptures saying that you should not greet a disfellowshipped brother or sister if the Bible does not say so but only when a person becomes an apostate. I'm glad they changed this. I hope they also remove some sins that should not be a cause for disfellowship. The apostle Paul enlisted the sins. They should not go beyond that.
Those sins are:
Sexual inmorality
Greed
Idolatry
Drunkness
Reviling
Extorsion
Nothing else.
Nevertheless, some other sins could be considered part of these mentioned by Paul. It's complex, but I still think that they are extremist sometimes. Nonetheless, it seems that is changing now. But if people is not disfellowshipped, they apply the new rule. That's like taking something away, but adding something new.

Interesting points. It appears to me to be a continuation of watchtowers walking with a foot each side of the line between control and bowing down to the laws of men. It also appears to to give lip service to worldly trends, distancing the governing body from responsibility, making the issue one of personal choice and interpretation whilst at the same time, holding on to the watchtower description of what a “bad association” is; I.e., anyone who does not do as watchtower commands.

The GB play a game of duplicity like no other - just as the bible indicates, in that it’s says one thing, but to the ones with (watchtower) insight, means exactly the opposite. They play an even more dangerous game by setting the brethren against each other by creating divisions. Note where the article refers to family decisions as to whom to associate with. Thereby, those families who do not see evil in a persons questioning of the truth, will also be shunned by that family, through that families inability to make the truth their own and depend upon watchtower to provide their reasoning! How twisted is that?!

The article is a document written in legalese by watchtower law-clerics to satisfy their masters, protect them from the accusation of shunning, yet to maintain at the very same time, their grip upon those sleeping. What they are in fact doing, is allowing shunning to take place but making others responsible for it, whilst keeping control of the very same dependancy upon themselves for guidance. The cleverness behind it is strikingly evident. To the unlettered attorney in watchtower deceit, to argue this point in this manner is simply conjecture and the Court would have to throw it out. This is possibly the reason why they have released a “trial” issue - pun intended!

I can confirm and assure you that it is legit. The machine-translated PDF Atlantis posted was processed starting from the actual Tagalog (Filipino) edition of the magazine: https://d34ji3l0qn3w2t.cloudfront.net/e2678173-85cb-4413-ae25-336c2102660e/1/w_TG_202408.pdf

If I may ask, how are you "confirming" and "assuring" that this is legit, considering the link offered on ex-JW sites was to an otherwise inaccessible back-end URL on the Watchtower organization's library server and not to the actual public facing?

Until the publication is available on the public-facing side of the website, I disagree that it's "official" in any respect... which is why I still suspect that this could be an exercise to try to find a mole.

Notice the website screenshot below is of the available Tagalog issues-- and August is not present:

Here is the link to the original info. As you will see the Spanish edition is now posted. This comes from ‘Atlantis’ who has been extremely active in producing accurate information for many years.
As with anything time will tell.

I won't belabor the point, but "pdfhost" is not an official site for the Watchtower organization, nor is the Spanish edition available (as of my posting this) from the Watchtower organization site-- which again suggests that someone may have access to an unpublished, no-public hosted file-- but it doesn't mean "Big Brother" isn't observing.

My two cents' worth.

If only they were making all these changes for Jehovah and not because of the Norway free money and other fights they're in around the world, then I could appreciate it all.. 😐

The mystery endeth..... but has anything really changed? Time will tell, I guess, on how this "New marking" is going to go over. The bottom line seems to be that the "org" is just doing damage control. Not really having the welfare of the sheep as a priority. But was anything else really expected?

No doubt it's a "legal maneuver"; not something they're doing out of the kindness of their heart.
The scriptures and reasoning were there previously. So, why the sudden adjustment?
Because they're getting hit where it hurts the most.....Their pocketbook!💲

The Watchtower—Study Edition | August 2024
“Keep this one marked,” said Paul. The Greek word suggests taking special notice of this person. Paul addressed this directive to the whole congregation, not just the elders. (2 Thess. 1:1; 3:6) So individual Christians who might have noticed a fellow Christian disobeying inspired counsel would choose to “stop associating with” the disorderly one.

Therefore, It's not the organization behind the marking/shunning, it's those uncontrollable sheep.

Can you imagine the division this is going to cause and the gossip among the brothers and sisters will be uncontrollable

What makes me feel angry and outraged and even sad about all this. Is that they always say that the elders are merciful. I deeply hate when they say that because the one who took my case 17 years ago was not merciful. That makes me feel angry and sad. It's outrageous. They are shameless. Not all the elders are like that. He "worried" about me after that, but the damage was already done. Sometimes I'm glad that happened because I would have not known many things like this webpage for example, but it's terrible anyway. Almost Everytime I read that, it makes me feel angry, it touches that wound.

Exactly so Proverbs. I think Chloe and J&P describe the motive behind it accurately. The manner of writing the article is a signature in itself. It probably is a mole tunnel too as a Believer makes note of. Skullduggery from the cellars of Kings Road. Fancy being in a community when you cannot even trust the very people you eat with - and all the time Winder is confident he knows how Jehovah teaches! 🤣

This is an interesting comment on how things are done.

I don’t see it on the website yet. What does it mean “released on servers”?
On the servers = The Amazon and Akamai-powered cloud infrastructure that hosts the content distribution network behind JW.org website. The publications are first uploaded there, replicated around the server farm for fast access from anywhere in the world. Only after that is the actual website updated (via their in-house content management system) and the publications visible in the usual manner. The URLs to the uploaded publications can be query by the so-called GetPubMediaLinks API call.
Has any change been made to an earlier version of the magazine that would explain the delay in publication?
The magazine was rewritten from scratch since Governing Body Update #2, even though the earlier version was ready for printing. The actual English language edition of the August Watchtower went to print today.
Have they removed the word disfellowshipping but not the practice? Or are they trying to water the whole thing down?
Yes, it's all word games. "Removed from the congregation" instead of "disfellowshipping", "committees of elders" instead of "judicial committees". One relevant change though is the discontinuation of warning talks if someone is marked for "walking disorderly", because now each individual Christian can decide for themselves whether to mark such a person, not just the elders.

It's evidently a case of Watchtower not liking that the brothers are grabbing the food while it's in the kitchen. So they closed the kitchen door until the spiritual food is ready to be served. 17 languages were released when I last checked before Watchtower pulled the plug on us. I don't think there will be any significant changes. The Tagalog edition was changed yesterday, they updated the section on handling minors who committed a serious wrongdoing, but it was a minor update.

I don’t know if it’s skulduggery but these ones are like the Scarlet Pimpernel. The information originally posted here was actually on the net 3-4 days earlier.

In the dying throes of the Third Reich Hitler blamed the German people for not being worthy of his direction!

One of the apostles had a wound and asked for it to be healed . I forget who, but he was unlucky too! Not to diminish it in anyway - as if mortal man ever could quell the pain - but most of us bear that injustice. The only thing we can do is turn it to our advantage in ministering to others - to use it as a driving force in speaking out, or, in strengthening our own faith. The signal fact that Jehovah is more merciful than his people, has not only kept my mind focussed on continuing to seek him out, but has also forced me to look into His attributes of character and in absorbing what I can into my thinking - without a great deal of success, it has to be said thus far, but trying is half the job, is it not? The wound does not heal, and thus the answer is to recognise it, feel the pain and use it to our advantage. It brings into our every day focus the reason why we are here, and of whom brought us to the well. That’s why the wound is left open, lest we become complacent, lest we sleep as do the eight million who also sought shelter but gave their commission to men!

Call me Mr Cynical, but I wish I could agree with you that it’s an improvement in their spiritual thinking borne of humility and repentance, but as has already been made note of, it is but to fend off the law of the land. The indicator is plain. They knew all this beforehand as evidenced in much of Robert’s writings and those of others on the site. It could have been changed decades ago - or even much of it not implemented at all. Not smoking was imposed under the threat of disfellowshipping - and not having the vaccine came pretty darn close to the same edict. In watchtower history, it is difficult to determine where learning and advancement stopped and control in a set understanding of scripture leading to apostasy began. There seems to have been little advancement spiritually since the 1970s. Just flip-flopping and “adjustments”. “New light” was a term that I recognise from then.

The motive was always one of control and governance - just as was the diktat on vaccines. So has the attitude changed? No. It’s a defensive move to fend off prosecution and the sheep are simply unwitting beneficiaries of a misunderstood pity from satan’s table. The lie still stands in all its glory. The deceit will still end in death - and death is still the objective is it not?

A hundred and forty odd years ago, the law of the land in England was adjusted in the realms of lawful execution by hanging. Rather than strangle a man to death at the end of a rope, it was discovered that if an equation between body weight and length of drop was applied, the neck would snap and kill instantly, thus saving a fifteen minute strangulation spectacle for the witnesses to endure. Thus the “improvement” was mainly for the benefit of the living rather than the one sentenced. His role was to just die. This watchtower move fits nicely into the same realm. ☹️
