Figured I'd create a thread about this. I posted not long ago about the dire wolf making headlines. This is a fascinating topic. People are, of course, very divided. Many are convinced this is a good thing. Others are concerned about ethics. For me, it's not so much about ethics or playing God. We've been doing that for centuries. My concern is the potential dangers of introducing an animal into a world it is not designed for. The dire wolf was adapted to a very different world. If they escaped somehow, it could put other species in danger. I admit, I do find these wolves absolutely adorable, but I do not believe they are dire wolves. The guy in this video IMO, provides the best criticism. He compares this version of the dire wolf to vegan mayonnaise. It's not the same thing. What they created isn't a dire wolf. It's something else, and they don't fully understand what they are doing. My main fear is where will this technology go in the future.
