Chapter 1 - The Truth

The harmony in parallel with King Josiah is phenomenal. One thing that I have not been able to figure out is this: Was "the prophetess Huldah" really speaking from Jehovah? (2Chron34:22, 2Kings22:14) I ask because the way it reads is more like it was a sorcerer or spirit medium they went to. When prophets were sent the accounts usually explain how the 'word of Jehovah occurred to me' and 'tell the house of Israel the word of Jehovah is'. Do we know that Huldah actually spoke for Jehovah? I think there were always prophets that spoke lies the whole time right? It reminds me of King Saul going to a spirit medium when Jehovah was not talking to him anymore.
It appears that what she said was from Jehovah and not any other source and it did come true. So, I would reason that she was really speaking from Jehovah.

Didn't she suggest he'd live a long life yet he died before age 40 a violent non peaceful death.
But I think the point was that Josiah wouldn’t suffer for the sins of the nation up to that point and his reward would be that the penalty would not be during his kingship. I don’t think she was saying that he wouldn’t suffer from future decisions that he made.

I hope you each make a comment as what may encourage you by reading this chapter.
I have read this chapter three times since your post. What is most encouraging to me is the harmony in how Robert ties things together. He will make a statement as fact such as "the fall of King Josiah at Megiddo was portentous" and then back up that statement with extensive reasoning and siting scripture to not only support the reasoning, but even more quoting scriptures that tie the proof to future prophesy in other scripture (Zachariah in this case), often tying old and new testament together.

I look forward to commenting on every chapter of the book. Encouragement Indeed!

I’ll be posting a new thread on chapter 2 tomorrow but if you want to get the jump on me, go for it.

It seems from my way of thinking that the Jewish system as a tutor should have focused people’s attention on sin, the need for repentance and a Savior. Christianity seems very focused on developing love for Jehovah, his son and our fellow man. To the point that Jesus even said love among themselves would identify true christians. That has me wondering what the next focus will be. Will it be a focus on truth and speaking honestly with each other? That seems to be something this dying system of Satan is well known to be lacking. Lying and deceit seems to be extremely prevalent. Anyway, just a thought.

Here is another quote from Robert’s book that I have noted.

“C
Love seems like an obvious thing doesn't it? We toss the word around as if it were natural an yet it is not. I am sure there are volumes that would surpass anything I could say about it. If we have a deficit of love then that defines what our problem is. Somewhere in our holy book it says that God is Love. That is the building block of life right there.

"Jehovah himself has become King" Ps 97:1. I read the black bible 4 times cover to cover just not too long ago, but I don't recall that phrase. Would be a bit hard to forget now that it is the title to Brother King's book.

Curious to know if those who have read the book, or are reading the book notices any themes ( I spotted a couple in the first chapter ), that R,K repeats. If you can see anything, you will know without realizing it that whatever it is will be part, or become part of your psyche. I'll leave it there, because I'm not too sure how to explain what I mean.
I was conversing with someone about this very thing. They weren’t too keen on the title of the book, Jehovah Himself has Become King.
I don’t know if I’ve just over looked Ps 97:1 or what. Sadly it’s oneof those scriptures that never stuck in my head :( Thanks you for sharing This !

Jehovah Himself Has Become King was the most provocative title I could think of. ;)
