True, true, and well, no. That many believe the Jewish people are God's chosen is true but I've never heard anybody say that they can do no wrong. In fact I've heard some say that " just because they are God's chosen doesn't mean we have to agree with everything they do". Now, I don't believe that the Jewish people are God's chosen anymore than you do. I'm just listening to what some of these talking head are saying, they mostly say that we are supposed to pray for the peace of Israel and that the covenant is an everlasting covenant. But modern Israel is more than Jewish( not gonna argue genetics) but there are Arabs and others that are Muslims as well as Christians living there so I don't even know how anyone can think today's Israel is anywhere close to the Israel of the Bible. I think people believe that it's an everlasting covenant because of how many time they sinned against God and then when they repented Jehovah forgave them. I suppose they think there is no limit on God's forgiveness. Anyway,
Political activism is much more obviously un-Christian, to me anyway. But what do you think about some of the topics that people have made political, ex. abortion, LGBT, etc? I find these to be biblical issues, not political. I'm still not gonna stand outside an abortion clinic and pray but when someone brings up the topic, I'll be happy to argue a biblical point of view. My thoughts
I was hoping Robert would chime in on the obviously false teaching about Paradise, as well as the rudeness and unChristian attitude of Seventy6. Sadly, he's been allowed to display a hostile attitude from the beginning of this CHRISTIAN forum... swearing and name calling unchallenged, while others have been booted for less.
He's teaching a false doctrine, so I simply asked if he was accusing Jesus of lying to the thief when he said he would be with him in Paradise. Instead of correcting himself, he doubled down on his hateful attitude and also kept pushing an obviously false teaching. He's saying that Paradise isn't until the end of the 1,000 years... is this true? If so, then how does the thief get to skip the Resurrection? He's implying the thief is either anointed and sealed at death, thus skipping the 2nd death, or that anyone who places their faith in Jesus skips the Resurrection and passes right into Paradise, thus skipping the 2nd death. Am I the only one seeing this???
When Jesus said paradise, I think he was simply referring to some point during his thousand year reign when the process of the general resurrection of the righteous and unrighteous takes place.
I’d think Jesus would want the earth tidied up and looking good before that event takes place.
And with every trace of the old system gone and great tribulation survivors well along on their journey towards perfection, it seems appropriate to refer to such a place as paradise though not in it’s completed form but a work in progress.
All, including the raised thief, will have to learn and conform to the Kingdoms teaching and restoration program otherwise face death with no hope of resurrection from ie the second death.
Even after the thousand years have brought man to perfection, we will all still be mortal like Jehovahs angelic family ,Jesus and his glorified brothers notwithstanding, and will rely on Jehovah for our continued existence.
The second death will forever be the consequence of any rebelliousness that may arise afterwards seeing how the legal precedents against challenging Gods sovereignty have been established.
So nobody skips the possibility of recieving second death. That’s how I see it but who knows, maybe at some point it will please Jehovah to confer immortality on more or all faithful persons.
