IT REALLY WORKS! CHEAP AND EFFICIENT!
Buy those materials while you still can!

It works...to an extent. You'll never get more energy than the candles are giving though.

If you live in a modern home in the UK you often dont have a fireplace. Lots of throws, hot water bottles, camping stoves, terracotta pot with tea lights. Just think of things that may keep you warm. Fill flasks of hot water in flasks before the power cuts. Remain positive. Go for lots of walks, be industrious and keep moving. Pray to Jehovah and Jesus.

Using a small camping tent in a room of the house they say can help contain body heat. Canvas hot tents with stoves might be a better solution for those who can run for the hills - an entire family can fit in some. By the way, what sage advice do we have from the F&DS on prepping? :cautious:

If you have a yard and some bricks there are videos online that show how to make an outdoor oven/cooktop with bricks. Perhaps that could be used to radiate some warmth even though you’d have to keep it outside.

For those of you who live in a...ahem, "winter wonderland", remember that you will have to shut down your water if it gets really bad. If the temperature in your house begins to reach 0C (32 F), find and shut off the main line water valve. You should know where that is if you live in a house.
Then open up a couple of taps, one in the upper floor and one in the basement. The main point is the pressure and some of the water is drained from the water lines. I'm sure you can figure out why this is important.

TBH, it will mean you're without heat for weeks in very cold weather to have to do this but good to know.

And of course, you will have to fill some containers for water to live on before you do all that.

Rocket stove.
Here's a Billy-Bob who discusses several styles but there are plenty of other videos. TBH, if you're not bugging out there is no excuse not to spend a little bit of money and make one of these.

One could use a couple of these to heat up rocks and then bring the rocks inside to heat the interior a bit for a while.

If people don't have the skills to survive outside if it comes to that, they need to get skilled. Some simple basics will get you far. By way of prep you can buy a pack of 20 cotton pads some candles, a bottle of kerosene and a flint rod for cheap. The flint rod and your knife will be your spark. Melt the candles say 300mls worth, of melt. add 20% kero. Chuck a cotton pad or 3 into the mix for 15 or 20 seconds. take it out and let dry while another pad/s is soaking. After you're done you now have waterproof tinder. Emergency fire. BTW the tinder will catch in windy and wet conditions but you must rip the pad to expose the cotton wool. Obviously you would need to scout for firewood before lighting up. So if you carry your shelter and fire with you all thats left is finding food. What more do you need? I've got a stash of butane lighters that smokers use. You could always carry some oats and noodles to keep you going till you can find/hunt some food. Anyway some simple ideas.

Contemplating the fast approaching famines and wars that will engulf the earth, I have to wonder how Jehovah will provide for those who look to him.
After all the psalmist did declare
“I have been young and now I am old,yet I have not seen the righteous abandoned or his children begging for bread.
Ps.37.25
Can we expect to personally experience miraculous provision that we’ve often read about in scripture?
Jehovah met the needs for over a million people in an inhospitable wilderness for over forty years.
Will that container of grain in our pantry mysteriously replenish itself?
Will birds drop off morsels of food to eat?
Will we awaken, as a despondent Elijah did, to a freshly cooked meal prepared by an angel?
Will we simply be energized for long periods of time with little to no food as in the account of Elijah where in the power of that one angel prepared meal was sustained for over a month?
Or perhaps we do succumb to a death of starvation where we are given the dignity ,grace and peace to our last breath to then be mercifully concealed in death?
Who knows for sure what will happen to each of us but whatever our fate will be we can be sure Jehovah is always sovereign over every last minute detail of our life and death and that something good will always result from the outcome.
We may not see what that good is, at the moment, but one day it will be crystal clear to us and we’ll be thankful beyond words.

Day-time tv is a bit of a problem in this country, not known for its IQ status and less still for its content. Naturally then, if you have half a mind to watch it, that is probably all you will need. Needless to say, these two are prime examples and certainly not known for their intellect and as with any other ‘freebie‘ the cost is offset in their tax bill.
