Going Home

Baptized in 1982.....never missed meetings....until 2002. I have not been in a Kingdom Hall in 20 years. I live in Alabama far from Kansas where I left it all behind. My husband travels all over the country. Yesterday he told me that he had a trip in Sept. that he would be gone for 2 weeks and he wanted me to go with him. I said where?....he said Kansas....I said where in Kansas? Where he is going is 10 min. from my old Kingdom Hall. I know so many of my old friends are still there whom I have not seen or talked to in 20 years. I am not thrilled about being gone 2 weeks but something is telling me to go. I have a burning desire to go to my old Kingdom Hall. Had I not found Roberts forum and read his book I would have no desire to go. I know 2 loving elders that are still there whom I love them both....I know if they see me walk in the door they would be the first to pull me in the back room and ask me a million questions. Should I go and What do I say and where do I begin?

This is definitely a matter of supplication! Let God know your situation & let Him guide you.

If you return and they see the Holy Spirit working through you, and can sense your honest love for Jehovah, Jesus and the Truth... then anything you may say that contradicts the WT narrative will at least give them pause. Eventually honest hearted individuals still under the spell of the WT/GB lies will have to make a choice between following God or men. They'll see that it's not apostasy to question men. You'll be planting a seed in someone, and maybe that someone is why you feel Jehovah is nudging you to go back. I don't believe in coincidences spiritually. If I were you, I would go and give a witness about the truth about the Truth. Pray and allow the HS to speak for you.

I love these phrase...that is my fear that they would immediately think I am an apostate....It's not apostasy to question men...I love this
This is exactly what I was talking about when I wrote in another post how WT likes to compare questioning anything the GB/WT/Elders to Korah's rebellion against Moses. It is absolutely their favorite. And if you don't give it a second thought it's pretty convincing. Here's the problem though:

The entire nation, 2 nations actually, Israel and Egypt just witnesses the 10 plagues, with Moses taking the lead, the pillar guiding them to the Red Sea, and Moses splitting the Red Sea. The miracles Moses performed were indisputable proof he was backed by Jehovah. When Moses said "who shall I say is sending me", and Jehovah gave him the power to perform those miracles, this was exactly what he was asking for, proof he was sent by God, and it had proof that could not be honestly questioned. This is also what Paul meant when he said they "are sitting themselves in the temple of God, and making themselves gods."

So the comparison of Korah's rebellion is perhaps the biggest "false equivalency" when it comes to this subject. It is the foundation of their arrogance! It is how they justify calling "question men" apostasy. And it is always the favorite weapon of religious fanatics whenever their congregations question them! Korah and proof Jehovah was backing Moses, and he had no justifiable question in that regard.

The bible calls Moses the meekest man on the earth. When Jehovah told him to go to Egypt, Moses was basically saying to Jehovah, "I'm not going and facing Pharaoh and the Jews unless I have proof you sent me." Imagine if the GB showed that kind of humility and asked Jehovah to give them proof he was backing them, instead what we get is their word on it, just like any used car sales men we get, "trust me, God is with us." "Trust us look at the growth in the org", whiling ignoring all the DF"ing, the CSA scandal, the UN partnership, etc ect, NO! Just "Trust us, we have God's backing." (And if you question us we will quietly DF you and no one will be allowed to know why, and if anyone finds out, it will be for apostasy, which no one else will dare question further, because they all know questioning men IS apostasy!)

This is why I asked question what do I say....this is excellent info....I had forgot about that scripture that Paul had said..."they are sitting themselves in the temple of God, and making themselves gods" The GB just decided to jump in the seat of mosses. The arrogance is so obvious...it was not that obvious 20 years ago.

We have been commenting how much has changed since they have become celebrities with JWBroadcasting. Prior to that no one really knew who the GB were. But the attitude trickled down to the elders even well before that and now I realize why. I used to think it was "rouge elders" who had become "puffed up with pride" because of their positions of authority, and I made all kinds of excuses for the WT/GB. I had heard of the CSA close to 20 years ago and made all kinds of excuses for the org, believing that it was indeed God's Org and had God's blessing and the things going on were because of Elder Bodies taking it on themselves to try to "protect God's name" Now I realize like Robert says it comes from the top down!

Years ago other than at a District Convention now and then would you hear a member of the Governing Body speak....I have listened to this new group of GB members....it's so easy to see right thru them. There is no humility. I can not believe the old timers that are still in the Truth don't see it and speak up about it. A few years ago when I learned they were moving the headquarters to Warwick and they were down sizing the Bethel family....I couldn't believe they would put all those old timers from Bethel on the street. Where was the outrage. That just flew all over me!!

Yes it got me too: That Bethel car park must have heard some prayer!

Whats the possible negatives against the possible positives? I suspect you have/are prayed/praying to Jehovah about it?
You will probably come to decide one way or the other? Sorry I can't help.

After 20 years the congregation might have changed a lot. Hopefully you will see some old friends
A couple months ago...a sister I was close to died. The obituary had the zoom information...I had never used zoom before....my husband set it up on his zoom account so I could watch the funeral.....no one would have known his name on zoom. I could see all the faces of so many that are still there and still faithful. I am not sure anyone saw me or even would have known it was me watching. Still not sure how zoom works.

Do you know how she died? If it was due to the jab, there's a thread on here called JW Obituaries - Zoom funerals that you could post on. The idea of that thread is where each friend who passed is documented if it is needed to be brought up when the time comes.

Perhaps just make it a meet-and-greet with the intent to get their email addresses so you can take your time and talk to them one-on-one through email when you get back home and personalize each conversation to match the needs and personality of the recipient.

Or maybe you should just hand out your card with your email on it and tell them you would love to hear from them.
That way if they write you, then they want to talk, and if they don't, they don't.

:)

aw, why not!

I would only caution you not to go in there with expectations- but if they are kind, welcoming, and attentive toward you and are genuinely happy to see you, you’ll have much joy- but if they are busy or standoffish, you won’t be disappointed. so remove all your expectations and go have a nice time no matter what happens. (-:.

There will no doubt some that will be VERY happy to see you after all these years!
