Exodus 4:21-26
And Jehovah said unto Moses, When thou goest back into Egypt, see that thou do before Pharaoh all the wonders which I have put in thy hand: but I will [d]harden his heart, and he will not let the people go. 22 And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith Jehovah, Israel is my son, my first-born: 23 and I have said unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me; and thou hast refused to let him go: behold, I will slay thy son, thy first-born. 24 And it came to pass on the way at the lodging-place, that Jehovah met him, and sought to kill him. 25 Then Zipporah took a flint, and cut off the foreskin of her son, and [e]cast it at his feet; and she said, Surely a bridegroom of blood art thou to me. 26 So he let him alone. Then she said, [f]A bridegroom of blood art thou, because of the circumcision.

Who was Jehovah wanting to kill at the lodging place?

Hello, it seems that he was the son of Moses
Moses had not circumcised him
We do not know why
But maybe the wife didn't want to and she didn't want Moses to do it
The angel came to kill him and Moses' wife circumcised him
She understood that it was very serious to set an example in fulfilling God's law
When Jehovah chooses and uses us we have to comply with his laws and be willing to sacrifice
You have to take things seriously
If Moses did not have his son circumcised………..would the Israelites have circumcised his son?
With the rebels that they were they would not have done it
We must obey Jehovah even if he hurts and we have to take into account his instructions
Especially those in positions of responsibility

😂 I hope the GB does not twist the example and apply it to the vaccine
Lately they twist the scriptures a lot and it would be very easy to apply it to remove those who do not follow their instructions

And wow! Abraham was 99yrs old when he was circumcised. Do you remember scripture when Dinah was stupidly avenged by her bro's, waiting till after they were circumcised before killing them? Ouch! What a ruthless lot those sons of Jacob were. How mercyful our Father Jehovah in saving His seed.

Masoretic text allege it was YHWH obviously Jehovah himself wasn't physically present to slay Moses or Gershom the septuagint claims it was malak (angel) The Septuagint precedes the Masoretic Text by at least a millennium making it the older text and closer to the time of the original Hebrew text that is lost. jubilees claims it was Mastema/the Devil. Essentially it was not Jehovah physically present but an angel whether good or evil we can't identify from either modern protestant or catholic canon.

Ok I was so confused, it sounded like God was going to kill Moses and it didn’t make any sense to me, thank you for clearing that up for me.

But who was the target to kill? Moses or his son?

It sounds like the target was Moses both from Exodus and Jubilees. We know that Jesus/Michael was restraining Satan at times as early if not earlier than the dispute over Moses body testament of Amram suggest those kinds of conflicts occured at times farther back than that as well. Perhaps an accusation had been made in heaven by the adversary regarding Moses son being uncircumcised and because zipporah circumcised Moses son Michael stayed the devil's hand. Entirely speculative on my part.

And in the sixth year of the third week of the forty-ninth jubilee thou didst depart and dwell <in [2372 A.M.] the land of Midian>, five weeks and one year. And thou didst return into Egypt in the second week in the second year in the fiftieth jubilee.
And thou thyself knowest what He spake unto thee on [2410 A.M.] Mount Sinai, and what prince Mastêmâ desired to do with thee when thou wast returning into Egypt <on the way when thou didst meet him at the lodging-place>.
Did he not with all his power seek to slay thee and deliver the Egyptians out of thy hand when he saw that thou wast sent to execute judgment and vengeance on the Egyptians?

I lean a bit towards this because the book of gad the seer and jubilees both identify the adversary as the "angel of death", that he executed the firstborns at the tenth plague and of the Israelites in response to David registering the people permitted in those instances to "steal, kill and destroy" one could say as Jesus phrased his foes motives in the gospel.

Hmm very interesting, I wish the scripture was more clear on what was going on but you gave me something to consider
I might go along with the idea that Moses was the target. He was tasked with a special assignment. The Mrs it seems was aware of what Moses should've known and so took the initiative and cut the boy before starting the sacred work? Something I thought of at the minute.

Jethro was a Kenite priest of Jehovah that lived in Midian so Zipporah would have undoubtedly had among the best spiritual education her generation could receive. The Kenites were a bronze working people that worshipped Jehovah before the Exodus they lived among the Edomites, Midianites and Canaanites and were among the vast mixed company it's quite possible they manufactured the Israelites weapons for them before there conquest of the promised land. Jael the woman that killed Sisera was the wife of a Kenite that's why she lived in a tent. One line of them was particularly distinguished the Rechabites in the book of Jeremiah Jehovah singles them out as more praiseworthy than his own people.

Actually it was Jehovah's will Dinah if you pay attention to the timeline and narrative sequence in Genesis Dinah was likely only 3-9 years old when raped Simeon and Levi were barely teenagers according to midrash only 14 and 13. In one of the prophetic books in the old testament there is condemnation for violating a mysterious covenant of Levi never before or after mentioned in any Jewish or Christian canon but present in the dead sea scrolls are fragments of testament of Levi which some churches preserved complete copies (albeit likely bearing a measure of christian interpolation) it reveals the covenant with Levi and that God wanted Levi to do what he and Simeon did and avenging his sister and executing God's judgement against this city who's most honorable man was a pedophile was what qualified him to become a priest of Jehovah and his descendants the priestly tribe.

These people did not circumcised for Jehovah but rather so that they could intermingle in marriage together and have their wealth.(Genesis 34:21-23) On the long run, the Israelites would be quickly turned away from Jehovah, and the true worship defiled much earlier and affect future generations.

Having reread the testament of Levi I have to make a partial retraction on my last post contrary to the midrashs testament of Levi places his age as 18 not 13 when he and Simeon slaughtered the town which would make Dinah older but still likely preadolescent when she was victimized. Testament of Levi seems to have the best heavenly cosmology model I've seen so far a seven heaven one with 7. the heaven of heavens where Jehovah resides 6. the heaven of the angels of the pressence/face/7 archangels 5. Where the angels that directly report to them live 4. Where the thrones and dominions are so probably the princes level 3. Where the holy ones are supposed to be which could mean either regular angels or anointed this would be the level Paul labeled Paradise 2. Where Belial usually is and where his hosts dwell 1. Where the beings involved in things like the weather are.
