Im Just not Feeling it.

If the Amish can do it in this current system, so could you. However, you're conditioned in such a way to think you can't live like that.

I like horses too but I honestly prefer using a car. I can appreciate the Amish lifestyle but I realize I like technology too much lol.
Surely the Amish life is one of denial rather than godliness? Their rejection of the world is purely figurative as where they need to, they make use of it, such as in various services, use of roads and earnings. Their entire ethos is built upon man’s concept of a scriptural life, right down to the “uniform” their wear, rather than understanding the scriptures as they are written. Mormons are another example, but the most cynical of all is watchtower in what it has become.

I'm not "conditioned" to think I "can't" live a similar life as the Amish due, I'm just not "free" to live a completely different life to what I am living now, I barely live hand to mouth as it is!! The restraints the authorities put on us about how we can live our life and how we can NOT are very real. But I definitely can see how easy it is for someone born into the Amish community to be able to live that way of life 😅 PS I detest technology with a passion , and if you drove all over the UK for work you'd understand why I hate cars!! I'm very much looking forward to being free from all the shackles of this system 👍

Yeh but least us women don't have to wear a "uniform" anymore 😂 and as for you men, I see some right "hobo" looking guys on the zoom meetings, just stroking their whiskers throughout the whole meeting 😂

Proverbs! Your Not going to the Kingdom Hall in a miniskirt and hubby with a beard down to his knees are you?

Básicamente, no "sentir" el nuevo mundo se debe a una falta de imaginación porque la gente podrá hacer todo lo que quiera.

Escribí este artículo hace unos 20 años.

Whoa!! I remember that article... it just the first thing that came to my mind for response to this entry!

When I originally published this article, a brother shared it with a sister in his congregation because he thought she needed some encouragement. Instead, she handed the printout to the elders, and the brother ended up getting disfellowshipped because I said, "Forget the Watchtower’s crude drawings of people sitting around on blankets with huge picnic baskets of fruit and vegetables, while the children are petting lions."

I am not kidding.
Getting disfellowshipped for not liking someone's drawing of a fictional paradise!! Those doing the cooking at bethel must live in dread of serving an overcooked prime rib steak to the top table, let alone serve them up a corked bottle of 1945 Domaine de la Romanee-Conte Grand Cru bought with the profit from the latest sale of a Kingdom Hall.

I'll have you know Barney that my hubby is very neat and tidy compared to a lot of brothers now!!
I got taken to the back room and told off for slouching in the Kingdom Hall. We had those awful plastic chairs to sit on that glue your bum to the seat while bending your spine backwards. It was a form of spiritual penance. Two solid hours in one of those chairs wondering if those thin chair legs would stand the weight or if they would suddenly splay out and deposit you on the floor. Those pre-beard days of conformity before the the apostasy of the beards and casual dress set in. I actually had flares in the sixties and three inch heel jackboots - six foot six with those. I had an old German trench coat to go with it too! It’s too late for a beard now - I would look like Gandalf….or a hobbit if I loose much more height ☹️☹️

Oh the back room dramas eh? I've a few of those! Honestly, I've said it before and I'll say it again, being in Jah's org (properly) is a training ground for us. Seems like I lasted longer than you Barney, you weakling you 😂 To be fair, if I hadn't had 4 kids that I so desperately wanted to have the knowledge about Jehovah and his purpose for us, I would have walked out on the morning of my baptism, never to return. There really are some very nasty humans in Jah's org who purposely go out of their way to hurt and destroy others, and the reason they get away with it is because the emphasis is on the "victim" to forgive "77 times" and not on the perpetrators to stop perpetrating. I actually felt sorry for the "Africans" when the elders told us that we were changing to nice comfy chairs and our rubbish was being sent to Africa 😕😯 give me a wooden tree stump instead, anyday 😆

No......I love cold toast so that the butter doesn't melt into the jam. I love the bendy texture. Isn't it great Jay we can discuss taste while the world is falling apart.....Chortle.
I made a sweet chilli dip to put my French fries and slithered Peppers into: Wow! After the last fry I smeared my finger into the last bit of dip and almost eat the tip of my finger off! Thankyou Jehovah for our taste buds and the multitude of tastes to enjoy...............Thankyou for creating us and inviting us to taste the most important taste...Ps34:8

Am I wrong? If so Im willing to be corrected- but this depiction of "Paradise" doesnt appeal to me. Im really hoping that being a farmer for eternity isnt what Jehovah has in mind for those who dwell on the earth.

Forgive me again....but tell me the watchtower artistic depiction of paradise doesnt make you think of the retro TV show from the late 80s "Fantasy Island". O'The Horror.

Would you guys like to share what your vision of "paradise" looks like? If so, I'd love to hear it.

Which is better Marmite or Vegemite? I've had vegemite.

Let's do a little digging Bill. I have had Vegemite as well and although it was back in the late 80's while on a surf trip to Oz, I recall the locals telling me in advance that I probably wouldn't like it, but I did not mind it at all. I like yeast and I like salt. Brewers yeast and Spike (a seasoning with a salt base) thrown over popcorn was my go-to snack in the 70's.

ChatGTP says:

Marmite and Vegemite are both savory spreads made from yeast extract, but they have distinct differences in flavor, texture, and origin:

1.

  • Marmite: British. First produced in the UK in the early 20th century.
  • Vegemite: Australian. Created in the 1920s as a local alternative to Marmite after World War I.

2.

  • Marmite: Has a stronger, saltier, slightly sweeter flavor with a noticeable umami kick. Some people find it more pungent or sharp.
  • Vegemite: Milder in sweetness but still salty and savory, with a smoother and more balanced taste that some say is slightly more bitter.

3.

  • Marmite: Runny and syrupy, more gooey in consistency.
  • Vegemite: Thicker and pastier, similar to peanut butter.

4.

  • Both are dark brown/black, but Marmite tends to be glossier.

5.

  • Both are made from leftover brewer’s yeast extract.
  • Marmite has a simpler formula, while Vegemite includes more additives (e.g. vegetable extracts, B vitamins).

6.

  • Marmite is more common in the UK, Europe, and parts of Africa.
  • Vegemite is a household staple in Australia and New Zealand.

Sending old chairs to the brothers in Africa?! How much greater would the gift have been if the congregation had sent the new chairs to Africa and endured the old ones themselves? Such is the standard of acceptable “giving” today. You hit the nail on the head Proverbs in that the application of the spirit is so very different than the simple head knowledge of it. You should “identify” as a brother and take the lead in the congregation and teach them a few hard truths! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

No thankyou Barney! Either the perceived "power' would go to my head and I'd turn into a different person or my name would go down in the Guiness Book of Records for the shortest stint as an elder 😅
