Is knowledge a weapon and possession over others?

My neurones misfire all the time DR74! I have always been mathematically illiterate. It is but one of a long line of attributes that make a fool out of me on a daily basis! I made peace with it long ago. 👍
Imagine what we might do with a fully functioning brain as perfect people. No more of that measure twice, cut once business. We'll get it right the first time.

Socrates:

“The only wisdom is in knowing that you know nothing.

I cannot teach anybody anything.

Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.

Wonder is the beginning of Wisdom.”

And finally, perhaps the best reason to quit fighting over ownership of knowledge in this sanctuary of Truth…Isaiah, 40:

”Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, or with the breadth of his hand, marked off the heavens? Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket or weighed the mountains on the scale…Who can fathom the spirit of Jehovah. ….Surely the nations are like a drop in a bucket; they are regarded as dust upon the scales.
I want to like this post but can't fully understand it. I can tell your heart is in the right place dog!
Barnaby humbles me in his ability to discern and then explain matters the way he does. Obviously highly educated and I believe a long career in social work so he’s seen a lot in the way of the human condition and has a unique perspective.
Sometimes , on account of my rum infused brain, I gotta read through his comments several times to grasp their richness.

The remark I made, just to be clear, was in response to the slanging exchange by some in the article you shut down. I think the majority here, welcome the topical arguments made over scripture and the allied world events, but for the large part is carried out with humour, candour, brilliant contributions to bible knowledge and relevance in our everyday quest for truth, but peaceable said, with good humour, striking regard for the correspondents feelings and insight and of course, regard in Truth for the owner of that knowledge and humour, Jehovah and Jesus. My intent, as it always was and remains, having stumbled upon this site some years ago, is to defend your work in explanation of the Truth - something that has turned my faith around 360 degrees from watchtower and given me insight into truth. This has no earthly value that can be gauged in human terms because it is insight into the Creator - something that cannot be valued as it is priceless. It is also a gift from the creator. It is clear therefore that people do learn that here and learn it they must by Holy Spirit. The conveyance of truth is through spirit, and it’s conveyance into our realm of existence is through those whom Jehovah chooses, just as the bible says, in carrying out His will. Is this not so?

I apologise if you thought I was making a remark on your actions of closure in the slanging match going on in the previous posting, I was most defiantly not. My remark was simply illustrative of the situation of one calling another out in terms we can do without. We own what we learn. That is faith. The gift of understanding is given us by Jehovah alone. That is undeniable. That is worth defending, just as you say. The site and readership given to you - I too will defend that to the end - as also will, it seems, every one else here do - and for me at least, their understanding and sharing is Life blood to us all. I hate to see it abused when our little idiosyncrasies should be valued and cherished. That is basically what I meant to say, as I did not wish to make the matter this deep, and introspective but perhaps I should have explained it fully at the time, but I was inhibited by my feelings of drawing undue attention to the matter. I thought the bible and the earthiness of Socrates sufficient. 👍. Keep on doing what you do Brother Robert. Do not ever stop.
The question is, who is calling who out, or is it just relative...lol

Long live our dear host. May he continue here with us until the fat lady sings.
Indeed. I second that. I forget in which article Robert wrote the following, but I think it is one of the most salient points that has ever been made. Throws a lot of things into perspective, at least for me:

"In the overall scheme of things getting it right doesn’t matter.
God’s word will prevail regardless of what anyone says or does or doesn’t do."

You touched on one of my main problems in life - measure 20 or 30 times and still get it wrong! 😁
I was just sitting here talking to myself and I recollected that our God does not test us. He allows us to be tested but he will not do that himself. He couldn't have hired a better servant than Satan for that purpose. The good part is that Satan gets a boot up you know where eventually.

So true! Try music if you find yourself talking too much to yourself. It leads your thoughts elsewhere and allows you to not dwell on considering all of your faults and ‘should-have-dones’. It works for me.

It is relative to the perception of the reader in much the same way as time is relative to the observer in relation to everyone else - therefore we judge others according to reasoning in our perception and experience of the point to hand. Hence the scripture, judge not, lest you yourself will be judged. 😁👍

We are all insane. It’s just that some are more insane than others, so Orwell tells us.
Orwell or Eric Arthur Blair: Worked for empire in Burma. The things he experienced as a secret policeman in Burma gave him 1984 and Animal Farm! But his sins commited at the behest of empire crippled him with PTSD and finally cost him an early death.

If I thought I could successfully slay them I may be in the same frame of mind. Those enemies are extremely powerful. I have to trust in the power of Jah. Romans 12:20, proverbs 25:21.
My only power IS my God. He wakes me up the morning and he moves me throughout the day, Jehovah is my reason for breathing. If I draw a breath it is because my Creator wanted it to happen. I won't take that too far because it can sound selfish after a bit but, if my God wants me for some purpose then it happens. He is God not I. This is where we lie. A bottom line that we are forced by death to accept that we cannot cross a line set in the sand by our Creator. Here is where you rely on me saith the LORD. I AM your strength and power for every good act,
That isnt scripture. I made that up myself.

Refreshingly humble attitude you have brother Bill.
Indeed if Jehovah wants something to happen, it will happen despite ourselves.
I can’t remember the exact location of the scripture but it had to do with His purpose to destroy Jerusalem for its rebellion against Him.
With reference to the military force of the Babylonians that He would use to accomplish that purpose, He said that “even if just one sick Babylonian soldier were to come up against the city,” that the city would fall at his hand.
I suppose we shouldn’t underestimate what Jehovah can do through us when He wants something to happen.
