Since the "war" in Ukraine I have posted many videos on this forum from journalist Gonzalo Lira.
I just got word that he has been arrested by Ukrainian police and its not sure if we will ever hear from him again.

US-Chilean citizen Gonzalo Lira was recently arrested by the Ukrainian secret police on charges of “war propaganda”, for which he could face 5 to 8 years in prison. The US government's silence on the incident is in stark contrast to its hysteria over the arrest last month in Russia of Wall Street Journal (WSJ) contributor Evan Gershkovich on espionage charges after he was caught in the act of making secret military-industrial information requested from a regional legislator.
This is a betrayal of American principles, as freedom of speech is considered a sacred right of all citizens, wherever they may be. Whatever one may think of Lira's views and the specific piece of Ukrainian legislation cited as the basis for his arrest, the US government is believed to support the rights of its citizens abroad. This is especially true when they are arrested for expressing an opinion and/or practicing journalism, like him.
The silence on this scandalous incident indicates some degree of complicity in, or at least tacit approval of, Lira's arrest, as nothing else explains the conspicuous lack of response. These suspicions are heightened by the fact that one of the US government's top information belligerents in Ukraine, transgender mercenary Michael John Cirillo, has admitted to the Daily Beast that he collaborated with the SBU in the case against Lira and even intends to testify against him.
In his exact words: “I already gave an affidavit to the SBU about Gonzalo Lira several months ago and expect to be called as a witness in his prosecution.” Cirillo also added on Twitter that “When I get to Capitol Hill in 10 days, the arrest of Gonzalo Lira will undoubtedly be a main topic of conversation.” Instead of seeking his release, the US government is relying on one of its top propagandists in that country to pursue Lira's conviction, after which their proxy brazenly intends to brag about it to Congress.
It should also be noted that Cirillo told this to Julia Davis, who has been banned by Russia for working against her national interests at the behest of hostile powers, which of course means the US in this context. Her article also mentions that she obtained exclusive footage of Lira's arrest, which could only have been obtained by the SBU, whose employees shared it with her precisely because they know she is one of their patron's most trusted agents and would use to humiliate Lira in her play.
These facts lead to the conclusion that the US government is indeed complicit in the arrest of this US citizen by Ukraine. She doesn't even hide her complicity in Lira's persecution, after one of her top intelligence belligerents in that country admitted to collaborating with the secret police on this case, told the media that he intends to testify against him, and even intends to brag to Congress about this. The US government is perversely proud of this, as it hopes to pressure critics of its proxy war into self-censorship.
This objective clearly extends to its own citizens like Lira, who passionately hates the US government because its courageous reporting from Kharkov discredited many of their claims about this conflict. The government could have simply asked Kiev to deport him to limit the damage he caused to their information warfare operations, but preferred to set an example by prosecuting him. Cirillo's role in this incident and his plans to brag about it in Congress leave no doubt about the US government's complicity.
