The discussion continues:
I love how her advice centers on the organization instead of scripture. You'll see what I mean. Some of the names have been changed.
Mary
Well that's not exactly accurate, saying we've not seen anything yet. The feet and clay prophecy covers all these things and yes we are noticing. It's one more part of the end-time prophecies. Yes it's going to escalate, we do expect that though, if that's what you meant. For those who will not serve Jehovah, it's going to be much harder though.
Josh
It's better to prepare for the unexpected than to assume the worst is behind us.
The Jews were certain their temple wouldn't be destroyed. The apostles knew Jesus would sit on a literal throne and usher in God's kingdom in their generation. After hearing what Jesus said concerning John, they knew Jesus would return before John died.
Just imagine what we'll know tomorrow.
Mary
No one thinks the worst is behind us, we all know better. It's best to get on Jehovah's side while we still have time, though.
Josh
Of course. The issue I am pointing to very much rests on what it means to be on Jehovah's side.
For the most part, at least in the developed world, we live in relative peace. It wasn't always like that. Most of the apostles died horribly. Jehovah has given us a gift in this world, despite its shortcomings.
But I am afraid people today are not ready for what is coming. Anybody aware right now can see the writing on the wall. Something big is about to happen, and I don't think any of us are truly prepared for that.
Mary
Thankfully the brothers have been preparing us as much as possible. Many talks about it and the experiences of those who are persecuted and worse in other countries.
On the website there have been interviews with former prisoners in terrible places in other countries that are under ban. Things are quickly changing here. Now is the time to build our faith, trust, and integrity.
Something big is right. The Great Tribulation is ever closer now and then finally Jehovah will put a stop to it all.
Susan
We can say, “Oh, I'll do this or that if I get arrested or put in prison.” Until we actually experience it, we don't know exactly how we will react.
But it's a sure thing that if we stay close to Jehovah, he will help us react in a manner worthy of bearing His name.
Josh
Thanks. This is exactly what I am hinting at.
I'm not sure what the organization says specifically about the mark of the beast. Perhaps aspects of it have already occurred, but some things obviously have not. Brothers against brothers. Parents having their kids put down. Children rising up against their parents. I don't think this is just referring to the violence in the world, because that's always happened.
I think it's referring to an event where we all turn on each other.
Going back to the mark of the beast, there's an aspect of economy in there where we won't be allowed to buy or sell. It has never been possible before to fully lock somebody out of the economy.
Although there's more to it than just a digital currency, I have Bitcoin for example, but governments all over the world are working on a central bank digital currency which is basically programmable money.
Again, I don't know if that's what's going to happen or not, but with technology like that it would absolutely enable the government to prevent anyone they want from buying or selling unless they do XYZ.
I fear people simply do not comprehend just how bad the tribulation could be.
But yes, as long as you trust in Jehovah there is nothing to fear.
Mary
If you would pick up a regular study it would help. But in the meantime, you can research “mark of the beast” and other things on our own website.
Our website will give the facts, but offshoot stuff like YouTube or opposer websites often twist things, as you know.
Josh
My understanding of the mark primarily comes from the book of Revelation. As you know, with me being an outsider I may have some varying views, but I try hard to base those views on scripture.
In fact, I see everything happening right now on the world scene through the lens of prophecy.
David
Solomon wrote at Ecclesiastes 2:11 that after reflecting on all his works and hard labor, he saw that everything was futile, a chasing after the wind, with nothing of real value under the sun.
But later, at Ecclesiastes 12:13, he concludes: “Fear the true God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole obligation of man.”
There aren't many commandments that we must keep, certainly not the ten revealed to Moses. Here are a few:
- Hebrews 10:24–25: Meet together and encourage one another as we see the end drawing near
- John 13:34–35: Love those brothers that you're meeting with
- Matthew 28:19–20: Make disciples, preach, and teach
I'm sure there are more commandments, laws, principles, and recommendations, but those three are enough for me to focus on and keep me busy for now.
Not sure if you'll get to see my comment, so I'll also drop it in a private message.
Mary
We do not view interested ones as “outsiders,” just those who don't yet have accurate knowledge of truths. It's accessible to all of us as a personal choice.
