At our midweek meeting last week my favourite elder (favourite because he keeps "accidentally" saying things to get the brothers and sisters to think for themselves) gave a follow up talk concerning the increase in donations that he'd given the week before. Anyway, he reminded everyone how and when we "gave" our kingdom hall to the Watchtower and said it meant that they wouldn't have to be responsible for upgrades/refurbs etc just the basics running costs because Watchtower are now the landlord and we are just tenants. BUT, they'd recently had a visit from a Watchtower "inspector" (can't remember what they're called now) and he'd pointed out a couple of things that the congregation is OBLIGATED to do and pay for THEMSELVES and it comes to around £7000 altogether. He laughed and said "who'd have ever thought that a landlord could force the tenants to pay for big jobs themselves and even make them do the work too??!! Oops! I shouldn't have said that, please brothers and sisters, try and delete that thought from your minds!!"
I said to myself "Too late brother, you've said it now!!"
Anyway, he sheepishly asked us all to try and dig even deeper for all this extra money they need to get this work done. Poor brothers and sisters, their heads must be spinning..
