Yes Barnaby. I added the one for men. Please see post #25 on this thread. Is there one for men please?!![]()
I appreciate the thought, having listened to this, but it appears to reflect the qualifications for approval from the experiences within this world. I think that’s an easy thing to assume given the proximity of that required in terms of understanding the building blocks of faith and thus understandable. I think the struggle is more spiritual. But thanks.Inspiration for godly men.

I listened to it and took from it that which I thought to be helpful and true. It, obviously, doesn't and cannot replace God's Word. But, throughout his talk, he empasises that trials of life shape our character to become the person God wants us to be and therefore, like Job, trials and adversity make us stronger spiritually, better suited for God's will and purpose. Jesus himself learned obediencd from the adversities that he suffered; obedience under unfavorable circumstances.I appreciate the thought, having listened to this, but it appears to reflect the qualifications for approval from the experiences within this world. I listened to some of the talk again. He points out that life is not easy, that one goal is to have a life with meaning. To me, a life with meaning is a spiritual life, the primary purpose being to please God and to be the person that God created us to be and to live in harmony with His will. He makes this point too, which agrees with what the Bible says.I appreciate the thought, having listened to this, but it appears to reflect the qualifications for approval from the experiences within this world. Not eating anything a few hours before going to bed can be good for your overall condition and possibly to fall asleep faster, but every person is different, it has no influence on me, on the contrary, I have a fixed pattern, a moderate hot meal at 6 o'clock, 8 hours in bed with a fixed ritual, a small glass of fruit juice with 4 panes of 70 percent dark chocolate, A small handful of nuts and a slice of cheese in bed, a little more reading and I immediately fall asleep like a log. My problem is different, due to an enlarged prostate I wake up at 10 o'clock as well as 12 o'clock and about 3 o'clock and very often again, I was able to partly solve the problem by a lavender plant in my room and here and there flower buds from it, I have refreshed everything again, partly spurred on by the subject of this topic, It really works. I sleep longer. I don't know if it will stay that way, I'll keep you informed 001 997 2764 01 01 Jeroboam (N) and Rehaboam (Z)
Well, yes, lavender is known for it's relaxing and calming qualities. A gift from Jehovah.I don't pretend it works, it really works and certainly lavender in your bedroom, because I sometimes do without it and notice a very big difference, I need that ritual of eating a little bit in and reading in bed, I experience it as a boost
Hello serenity. Yes, there are many principles in which this chap is not incorrect -especially the point you make about seeking to benefit our fellow beings. There is though a deeper meaning to good works and that is the spiritual understanding that informs the love of one’s neighbour. We cannot with any ease, plumb these depths of understanding in others, but I can refer to the situation within watchtower - and here I generalise of course, because it is a principle of conscience. It is the principle of shunning.I listened to some of the talk again. He points out that life is not easy, that one goal is to have a life with meaning. "Strip off the old personality with its practices, and clothe yourselves with the new personality, which through accurate knowledge is being made new according to the image of the One who created it..."
Col 3:9, 10
"And you should continue to be made new in your dominant mental attitude, and should put on the new personality that was created according to God’s will in true righteousness and loyalty."
Ephesians 4: 23, 24
He points out that the world is constantly promoting the idea that happiness is found in escaping responsibility, that a fulfilling life is one free from struggle. That is a lie. I agree with him on these points and others, though not all. But, the impression that I get is that he is talking about the trials of life as being a spiritual struggle with God's approval as the ultimate goal. He says a meaningful life with a purpose is a goal, not running away from responsibility, not seeking a life of ease and pleasure, not just pursuing only ones personal interests, pleasures, personal comfort, and material gain, but living a life that considers others and seeks to help and benefit our fellow humans. Isn't that Christ's law?, to love our neighbor as oneself, to look after orphans and widows, to even love one's enemies?
"Because of this you are greatly rejoicing, though for a short time, if it must be, you have been distressed by various trials, in order that the tested quality of your faith, of much greater value than gold that perishes despite its being tested by fire, may be found a cause for praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ." 1 Peter 1:6, 7
I often use lavender oil for sleep - it’s very good at sending one a little deeper. I found out about it the hard way. I put lavender sprigs in my shirt pocket one day because I love the smell of it and spent the rest of the day practically asleep at my desk - couldn’t think, couldn’t type, just dreamed the day away…Well, yes, lavender is known for its relaxing and calming qualities. It's also a good antiseptic; I use it for my ingrowing toe nail and it done the trick!I often use lavender oil for sleep - it’s very good at sending one a little deeper. Yes, I certainly agree with the thought that the speaker doesn't capture the full "breadth and length and height and depth" of the knowledge of "the love of the Christ, which surpasses knowledge". I don't think that can be conveyed in any talk or speech or sermon, really. As the verses below show, this deeper comprehension comes only by means of God's holy spirit and through faith.Hello serenity. If we look at watchtowers assimilation and influence of the truth within their “understanding” we see that fellowship and reciprocal love and respect is slaughtered on the alter of the gb’s understanding. Cast out. Disassociated, families broken apart. Is not the edict of Christ to go after these ones? Best illustrated I suppose by “child” baptism and then blaming the individual for going through the pangs of puberty and mental growth.
My point being; though secular comments on Christianity are not to be discarded off hand - your YouTube example raises some good points - they often lack the spiritual insight of tolerance within understanding - mercy, insight, altruism, empathy especially. It comes down to the very issue we all will face in that will we give our life for one another. I do not see that degree of faith and forbearance for others in this chap’s understanding of the word as he would illustrate them if he did - though he is plainly aware of the principles. It takes more than that.

"For this reason I bend my knees to the Father, to whom every family in heaven and on earth owes its name. I pray that he may grant you through the abundance of his glory to be made mighty in the man you are inside, with power through his spirit, and that through your faith you may have the Christ dwell in your hearts with love. May you be rooted and established on the foundation, in order that with all the holy ones you may be thoroughly able to comprehend fully what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of the Christ, which surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness that God gives."
