Memorial Reading for 2022 / Lectura conmemorativa para 2022

Nobody ever got back to me about the memorial. It's too late now because I ended up being scheduled for work that night. I would have taken off to attend the memorial but nobody ever reached out to me so I never requested that day off. But at least with this thread I can observe the memorial on my own. Thanks, Driven. This helps me too.
Hi make sure you have the crackers and full bodied red wine to pass around after sundown. My congregation has zoom as well so we can join in even though not at KH.

Strangely enough I suspected this may be the case.
Yes Jahrule, sadly you’re right. But don’t get despondent. There is plenty of encouragement and valuable points made by many here that will feed the mind, perspective and hope. Though we are responsible for our own salvation through Jesus, the help of the brothers and sisters here gives substance and experience to each other and adds colour to the scripture by the fruitage is bears though it’s outworking amongst us. At least, that is what I feel to be the case. It is not an exact science, but acts as a guide, a meridian of the attributes of Jehovah amongst imperfect people trying to break free of this world. It reminds me of the matrix, whereby if one wakes up, they get flushed out of the system into reality. Quite a good analogy of this system though I say so myself!

Raise a glass for me as well please. I’m not anointed (by a looooong way), but I have no one to speak with about the truth at home, but would like to be there so to speak.

Me too. So I won't bother with the Wine and the Bread. I'll just watch the memorial talk, pray and ask understanding from Jah as I am not one of his anointed.

Thanks for that post! It's a good reminder not to go insane from everything happening. The thing that depresses me is that it seems it takes death & destruction to get the point across. This is the case for the Org, but also my family situation. I fear the nth degree must be enacted in order for things to progress. When it's like this, you can't help but feel helpless. Just have to hang in there.
Jehovah has always used adversity to get peoples attention and to disabuse them of their deeply entrenched indifferent attitudes.
He did it with with Israel again and again and even foresaw that His people would stray and need correction/adversity as was evident by His words to Solomon in the 7th chapter of 2nd Chronicles.
If I shut up the heavens so that no rain falls, or if I command locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence and plague among My people, and My people, who are called by My Name, humble themselves, and pray and seek (crave, require as a necessity) My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear [them] from heaven, and forgive their sin and heal their land.
2 Chronicles 7:13-14
I pray that this will work for my loved ones who aren’t connected to God in any way at the present time but perhaps will be more receptive to what Jehovah is doing and offering as life becomes increasingly unbearable.

Funny experience this morning at the gym.
The spin instructor marches in the studio, says Happy Easter and announces that today is the anniversary of Christ's death. She knows because she received a hand written letter explaining all about it. She was very bemused. She said she is not religious, but thought it was 'epic'. Some members then chimed in saying they had received hand letters too.
The spin instructor said she had posted it on Facebook, with the caption 'Who is (name of sister)?'
I kept quiet as I think I know that sister.
Well, at least her Facebook friends might get an indirect witnesses, and might learn something about Jesus' sacrifice 🤣

Enjoy your various Memorial observances, this evening.

I will join my congregation on Zoom, as I am mask exempt. No emblems, as I don't have a heavenly hope and have no one to pass them too.

How do they pass the emblems at a zoom meeting? Do you all meet in a 3D electronic world using avatars ? And if the elder present in the ether thinks you unworthy, does he deduct one of your lives….you have only two lives left to comply - if not your avatar explodes and you are cast out of the Garden of Zoom into the land of Samsung, where you have to fend for yourself“

You have to pass it to family members, or to yourself 🤷‍♀️
But, I prefer your suggestion 🤣

By some strange coincidence somebody did reach out to me today about the memorial. But it wasn't related to the voicemail I left at my local kingdom hall in Vermont. The call actually came from one of the brothers who studied with me back in Georgia prior to 2008. Actually two different people contacted me from the same congregation. All former acquaintances. I stayed in contact with a few of them over the years. I was given the Zoom details to attend the Georgia memorial online. So it looks like I get to attend it anyway, despite having covid and having no one return my correspondence locally. Jehovah must have known I really wanted to attend because even my covid symptoms are hardly noticeable today. Mostly right now it's just mild discomfort, and "mildly-uncomfortable" is my middle name, so I basically feel normal.

Daytime Events for April 16, 2022

Memorial Bible reading: (Daytime events: Nisan 14) John 19:1-42

John 19:1-42
: “Pilate then took Jesus and scourged him. And the soldiers braided a crown of thorns and put it on his head and clothed him with a purple robe, and they kept coming up to him and saying: “Greetings, you King of the Jews!” They also kept slapping him in the face. Pilate went outside again and said to them: “See! I bring him outside to you in order for you to know that I find no fault in him.” So Jesus came outside, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe. And Pilate said to them: “Look! The man!” However, when the chief priests and the officers saw him, they shouted: “To the stake with him! To the stake with him!” Pilate said to them: “Take him yourselves and execute him, for I do not find any fault in him.” The Jews answered him: “We have a law, and according to the law he ought to die, because he made himself God’s son.” When Pilate heard what they were saying, he became even more fearful, and he entered the governor’s residence again and said to Jesus: “Where are you from?” But Jesus gave him no answer. So Pilate said to him: “Are you refusing to speak to me? Do you not know that I have authority to release you and I have authority to execute you?” Jesus answered him: “You would have no authority over me at all unless it had been granted to you from above. This is why the man who handed me over to you has greater sin.” For this reason Pilate kept trying to find a way to release him, but the Jews shouted: “If you release this man, you are not a friend of Caesar. Everyone who makes himself a king speaks against Caesar.” Then Pilate, after hearing these words, brought Jesus outside, and he sat down on a judgment seat in a place called the Stone Pavement, but in Hebrew, Gabʹba·tha. Now it was the day of Preparation of the Passover; it was about the sixth hour. And he said to the Jews: “See! Your king!” However, they shouted: “Take him away! Take him away! To the stake with him!” Pilate said to them: “Shall I execute your king?” The chief priests answered: “We have no king but Caesar.” Then he handed him over to them to be executed on the stake. So they took charge of Jesus. Bearing the torture stake for himself, he went out to the so-called Skull Place, which is called Golʹgo·tha in Hebrew. There they nailed him to the stake alongside two other men, one on each side, with Jesus in the middle. Pilate also wrote a title and put it on the torture stake. It was written: “Jesus the Naz·a·reneʹ the King of the Jews.” Many of the Jews read this title, because the place where Jesus was nailed to the stake was near the city, and it was written in Hebrew, in Latin, and in Greek. However, the chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate: “Do not write, ‘The King of the Jews,’ but that he said, ‘I am King of the Jews.’” Pilate answered: “What I have written, I have written.” Now when the soldiers had nailed Jesus to the stake, they took his outer garments and divided them into four parts, one for each soldier, and they also took the inner garment. But the inner garment was without a seam, being woven from top to bottom. So they said to one another: “Let us not tear it, but let us cast lots over it to decide whose it will be.” This was to fulfill the scripture: “They divided my garments among themselves, and they cast lots for my clothing.” So the soldiers actually did these things. By the torture stake of Jesus, however, there were standing his mother and his mother’s sister; Mary the wife of Cloʹpas and Mary Magʹda·lene. So when Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother: “Woman, see! Your son!” Next he said to the disciple: “See! Your mother!” And from that hour on, the disciple took her into his own home. After this, when Jesus knew that by now all things had been accomplished, in order to fulfill the scripture he said: “I am thirsty.” A jar was sitting there full of sour wine. So they put a sponge full of the sour wine on a hyssop stalk and held it up to his mouth. When he had received the sour wine, Jesus said: “It has been accomplished!” and bowing his head, he gave up his spirit. Since it was the day of Preparation, so that the bodies would not remain on the torture stakes on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath day was a great one), the Jews asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies taken away. So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first man and those of the other man who was on a stake alongside him. But on coming to Jesus, they saw that he was already dead, so they did not break his legs. But one of the soldiers jabbed his side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out. And the one who has seen it has given this witness, and his witness is true, and he knows that what he says is true, so that you also may believe. In fact, these things took place for the scripture to be fulfilled: “Not a bone of his will be broken.” And again, a different scripture says: “They will look to the one whom they pierced.” Now after these things, Joseph of Ar·i·ma·theʹa, who was a disciple of Jesus but a secret one because of his fear of the Jews, asked Pilate if he could take away the body of Jesus, and Pilate gave him permission. So he came and took the body away. Nic·o·deʹmus, the man who had come to him in the night the first time, also came, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes weighing about a hundred pounds. So they took the body of Jesus and wrapped it in linen cloths with the spices, according to the burial custom of the Jews. Incidentally, there was a garden at the place where he was executed, and in the garden was a new tomb in which no one had ever yet been laid. Because it was the day of Preparation of the Jews and the tomb was nearby they laid Jesus there.”

Eventos diurnos del 16 de abril de 2022

Lectura de la Biblia conmemorativa: (Eventos diurnos: Nisán 14) Juan 19:1-42

Juan 19:1-42
¡Tu rey!” Pilato respondió: "Lo que he escrito, lo he escrito".

You said it Ken. I was one of those people. In a comfortable job, making good money, taking care of my self in life. Mind you, I never had Jah very far from my mind. Once you learn about Jehovah and his ways you never forget. But that didn't mean I didn't consider the idea of atheism. I was quite conflicted...but comfortable in life. One thing I knew for sure was that I was never, ever going back to the WBTS. I knew the WBTS was bent, more a corporation than God's organization.

Then I lost my job and was hit with this Covid scam. I started to really consider my life, started to wonder what all of this was about. I started to investigate everything that I had taken for granted. I still vacillated between belief in God and non-belief. I started reading the Bible, started praying to God. Then a friend pointed me to Robert's site. Watching Robert's videos and reading his material it all started to make sense to me. Now I understood why God's organization had gone so wrong.

My adversities were a wake-up call. God really does scourge every one he cares about. Heb 12:6

I still have trouble with my faith from time to time but, even though I'm in rougher times materially, I'm in a better place now then I ever was when I was a "Witness".

Tell me about it! Sometimes I feel I can have too much of a good thing.

Memorial Reading for April 17, 2022

Memorial Bible reading: (Daytime events: Nisan 15) Matthew 27:62-66 (Events after sunset: Nisan 16) John 20:1

Matthew 27:62-66:
“The next day, which was after the Preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered together before Pilate, saying: “Sir, we recall what that impostor said while he was still alive, ‘After three days I am to be raised up.’ Therefore, command that the grave be made secure until the third day, so that his disciples may not come and steal him and say to the people, ‘He was raised up from the dead!’ Then this last deception will be worse than the first.” Pilate said to them: “You may have a guard. Go make it as secure as you know how.” So they went and made the grave secure by sealing the stone and posting a guard.”

John 20:1: “On the first day of the week, Mary Magʹda·lene came to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and she saw that the stone had already been taken away from the tomb.“

Memorial Bible reading: (Daytime events: Nisan 16) John 20:2-18

John 20:2-18:
“So she came running to Simon Peter and to the other disciple, for whom Jesus had affection, and she said to them: “They have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him.” Then Peter and the other disciple set out for the tomb. The two of them began running together, but the other disciple ran faster than Peter and reached the tomb first. Stooping forward, he saw the linen cloths lying there, but he did not go in. Then Simon Peter also came, following him, and he went into the tomb. And he saw the linen cloths lying there. The cloth that had been on his head was not lying with the other cloth bands but was rolled up in a place by itself. Then the other disciple who had reached the tomb first also went in, and he saw and believed. For they did not yet understand the scripture that he must rise from the dead. So the disciples went back to their homes. Mary, however, kept standing outside near the tomb, weeping. While she was weeping, she stooped forward to look into the tomb, and she saw two angels in white sitting where the body of Jesus had been lying, one at the head and one at the feet. And they said to her: “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them: “They have taken my Lord away, and I do not know where they have laid him.” After saying this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus. Jesus said to her: “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you looking for?” She, thinking it was the gardener, said to him: “Sir, if you have carried him off, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away.” Jesus said to her: “Mary!” On turning around, she said to him in Hebrew: “Rab·boʹni!” (which means “Teacher!”) Jesus said to her: “Stop clinging to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father and to my God and your God.’” Mary Magʹda·lene came and brought the news to the disciples: “I have seen the Lord!” And she told them what he had said to her.”

Lectura conmemorativa del 18 de abril de 2022

Lectura de la Biblia conmemorativa: (Eventos diurnos: Nisán 16) Juan 20:2-18

Juan 20:2-18
¿A quién estás buscando?” Pero id a mis hermanos y decidles: "Subo a mi Padre y a vuestro Padre y a mi Dios y a vuestro Dios".
