Irish dance in Mississippi! That is nice to see.
But of course BTD, my husband was Irish descent. Back then until now we were into the Irish culture and music. My husband’s family did look into the anscestrial background and have the documents showing this.
Didn’t you know that most of us in the U.S. our ancestors come from Europe and other countries around the world?

We always seem to be interested in or go back to our roots.😉
My husband, Steve and my daughter (in the video) have the red hair.

My roots are German, an uncle of mine was in the Great War, on the English side. I don’t think I have any inherited German traits apart from order in my life and a liking for sausages.

Here’s a video that was posted on YouTube in 2014. A segment taken from a Talent show done in 2005 our congregations put together. It’s an Irish dance and song. My 2 youngest children are in this group. In line of sisters, my daughter is the second one. In line of brothers, my son-in-law is second and my son is the third one.
wow what a smart looking group!!!! It took me a little while to find - so glad i did. that looks like a lot of fun. How long did it take for them to get it down?

@Asadour

It took them quite a few weeks. A young couple who lived in this area was able to use one of the dance studios here. So every Sunday for a few months they would go there to practice.

John even recorded one of their practice sessions. It’s almost an hour but kind of boring because it’s so slow lol.
It was a lot of fun for them though. They loved it!

My grandfather was Irish/Scottish and we are part of the Moffat Clan. It is so extensive that they have a newlsetter for the members. So, I have an affinity for Irish music and dance. Perhaps its genetic.

Actually, Steve is Irish/Scottish also. When his cousin was doing the ancestry research he traced the family back to William Wallace ( his character was portrayed in the movie, Braveheart) Although I found out recently that a lot of the history about Wallace wasn’t accurate. Lol, go figure.

Anyway, I’ve heard of the Moffat Clan before but don’t remember. Who are they?

the older i get the more my musical taste changes.

I still love 80s music- Journey, Supertramp, Billy Squire, Split Enz, INXS, Donna Summer, The Specials, and i adore Liza Minnelli and all her Kander and Ebb songs from Caberet- also Bob Fosse was a genius, his movie Star 80 was highly underrated, though he did win the Oscar for Best Director for Caberet in 1973. I digressed, didn’t i.

I‘m a sucker for sappy love songs and ballads. I also like some of Frank Sinatra. Although I hate Lawrence Welk!
