They just make this stuff up.
I was once told that an insurance company in the US held a survey and the conclusion was that people didn’t trust men with facial hair. So as a brother you had to have a hairless baby butt face to get on a stage at a convention.

These days beards are all the rage and you see more and more brothers having them. What it boils down to, just like the 70/80s jeans (yep, you saw everything): it’s all about FASHION.

We aren’t a part of the world but we are so afraid that they won’t like us. Why do women still have to wear a dress even though there are plenty of very elegant pants available? It’s the world that dictates what “proper” looks like.

did you happen see that incredibly OFFENSIVE video on Jw dot org depicting a sister’s bible study that preferred wearing pants? the bible study was disabled (blind and deaf) and had to ride the bus, alone in foul weather, 45 minutes, one way to get to the meeting- but the video doesn’t show the sister offering to drive her, or help her in anyway- instead it shows her counseling the poor lady on “proper attire”. One of the most offensive things i’ve ever seen on jw dot org.

No, do you have a link to it?

I think it's due to the British Western influence on the world. Facial hair tended to be a thing for hippies & beatniks. Plus, Castro, Hitler, Stalin, Marx, etc. gave facial hair a bad rep.
And don't forget that original beatnik Bible student, Charlie Russell. He had a groovy sort of facial thing going with a beard but no mustache.

I missed this post somehow 🤷‍♀️

Okay, I could get through 3 minutes without throwing up. I have a hard time watching anything from the org at the moment.
Anyway, this line got me (remember the study was disabled and lived in an area notorious for gang violence).
”She had to put in effort to go to the meetings in order to make progress”

😲

Honestly, I don’t know how to react to this.
Is this the love Jesus told us about?
Cult, is the word that keeps going through my mind. Other than than I’m just dumbstruck.

Yes, that was the weirdest video I have seen from the org in a long time.

My MIL wants to take my daughter to the meetings from time to time. After seeing this I am SURE I don't want her going anymore. She came home last time and told me everyone was wearing masks. (Shes very young she wanted to know WHY they were wearing them lol ) I told my husband already that he had to tell his mom our child was to NEVER wear a mask. What happens when it becomes dress code? With the pressure on to conform or idk...not disappoint Jehovah who knows what could happen..

It's all very uncomfortable. MIL asked why we aren't going to the meetings and my husband only told her we don't want to wear masks (I guess we are keeping the apostasy of the GB to ourselves for now) and he said she told him they probably wouldn't let him into the KH if he didn't. I asked him later did she even hear what she said? We might not be allowed because we won't conform to mask wearing and that's fine with her? A seasoned reader of the Bible, lots of understanding, and she's okay with people not being let in? Life's water free huh? There's a disconnect that they've achieved that I cannot reach.

And I just want to say I'm not trying to knock my MIL...she's a good lady. Lived a hard life and is NO DUMMY. That's one this I love about her is she never takes BS from anyone. When I see her doing everything the org says because she really believes the GB is Jehovah's chosen it makes me so sad.

@SpicySpice

I perfectly understand your concerns about your MIL.

But what really gets to me is how exjw’s, including those of us on this forum….we shouldn’t refer to ourselves as apostates.
According to God’s word an apostate are those who represent the true God Jehovah but speak falsehoods in his name thereby speak out against him.

We only speak out against the GB claiming to represent Jehovah on earth calling themselves God’s earthly organization. So in effect because we speak out against the things they are saying and doing to bring reproach on Jehovah, should we really see ourselves as the apostates? I think not!

The truth is, they are the apostates!!! Any thoughts?

That makes me feel physically sick to hear they said that to you. But i don’t doubt it for a minute. I was told by a sister that i shouldn’t braid my hair so much. I know another sister that was told to go home and change cause her dress was cut too low and could therefore stumble a “breast man” in the congregation.
Probably the PO
