That's so true, we've got a small garden and everything is packed in like sardines! We don't have anywhere to store anything so last year, because we had so many potatoes I left a load in the ground over winter. When I dug them up in March (after being in the ground for 8 months all told) they were huge! and in perfect condition! Good idea! I have my “potato” planted in a tub in my garden and my apple tree sits in a big clay pot and has five apples on it this year. It’s only three years old. I did have a lovely fig tree but it decided to take over the garden a bit like Hitler with Europe, so I had to call in the Americans to blast it out of the ground. The roots were about 15 feet long. I can’t afford a pot that big!
