Anybody else ever struggled with addiction? How did you address it? I keep failing and it's really depressing.
Here's my take on things. So when we look at Bible characters, it is true these are true accounts because the Bible records there imperfections. But think about it, these people still have their names forever recorded in the Bible, God's inspired word. Of course they were imperfect, and of course if it is God's word he would record that. But these people ARE the most exemplary people of all of mankind, other wise they would not be in the Bible.
So Jehovah used the most exemplary people to record the Bible even though they had serious flaws. Those are the people we aspire to be. Well I have news for you, that's not us. We have more serious flaws, most of us any way, than they do. You think Jehovah would chose you to write an inspired Bible book? This is not to say, we should not strive to be better, but rather to say, even the best examples in the Bible, that we aspire to be are not even close to perfect. So the question is, how many Jews had God's approval? How many of the common Jew did God accept, and how many did he decide to execute for all eternity?
Rather than focus on how we are not pleasing Jehovah, focus on what Jehovah see's in us, because he see's what we can be when we are perfect, we cannot earn that gift of life. All we can do is make Jehovah see something in us that makes him want to give us a chance! Regardless of what we do now, we are going to fail! So it's not about our failure, its about us trying. And what is in our hearts....Jehovah knows what tortures us on the inside. What tortures us is Satanic imperfection. What makes us different from Satan worshipers, we don't embrace our imperfections.
Yes an over simplification, but a needed one all the same...IMO.
Are you suffering from an addiction because of a choice or because of an addiction due to imperfections. Well, would you have an addiction if you were perfect? Maybe we do not deserve kindness, but do we deserve death? God gave his only begotten son, for undeserved kindness, but why did he give his son if we did not deserve kindness???
Obviously there is his Godship involved in all this, which is where redeeming Adam offspring comes into this equation. But I want to get back to the addiction thing.
Think about how simple a choice it should have been for Eve. She made the wrong choice, but why? She was perfect, so you and I have NO IDEA! None what so ever, and so much so, it condemned all of her children to imperfection. It was NOT simply because she ate of that tree and what Satan used to entice her, appealed to her. Her comprehension was beyond anything we understand. It was because of what she became inside because of here perfection and that choice she made.
Any way, the point is, do your best, think positive about whatever you do, or are doing, and do not expect too much from yourself! If we did as good as perfection as Adam and Eve did, we've failed. They chose to rebel, and that is the whole point.
