Zadok the priest . . . anointed Solomon.—1 Ki. 1:39.

Zadok remained loyal to Jehovah despite High Priest Abiathar’s choice to support David’s son Adonijah, who planned to seize the throne. David never doubted Zadok’s loyalty. When Adonijah’s scheme was revealed, David turned to Zadok, Nathan, and Benaiah to anoint Solomon as king. (1 Ki. 1:32-34) Being with loyal worshippers of Jehovah, such as Nathan and other supporters of King David, must have strengthened and encouraged Zadok. When Solomon became king, he “appointed Zadok the priest in place of Abiathar.” (1 Ki. 2:35) How can you imitate Zadok? If someone close to you chooses to leave Jehovah, make your choice clear. (Josh. 24:15) Jehovah will give you the strength and the courage you need. Rely on him through prayer and by staying close to fellow loyal worshippers. Jehovah treasures your loyalty, and he will reward you for it.

Jehovah's Witnesses cannot conceive of any sort of scenario that would involve choosing between being loyal to Jehovah and being loyal to the Watchtower. But it is exactly the choice Jehovah's Witnesses will have to make in the near future. What could possibly bring that situation? Simple: The parousia.

The Watchtower stands on the foundation that the parousia began in 1914. It has not. It is the lie that Jehovah allows, what Paul called an operation of Satan. So when Christ actually comes as a thief in the night, a chain of events will begin indicating that Christ is near at the door. And those who open the door when Christ knocks will experience the visible parousia, or manifestation of the Son of man. Watchtower loyalists will not accept the witness they give. They will become the betrayers of their former brothers, as was Adonijah. Didn't Jesus foretell this very thing? "Then, too, many will be stumbled and will betray one another and will hate one another."

A new brochure is available on Amazon. It is a collection of a series of articles posted on e-watchman last Autumn. It is a little expensive, at $11.67, because it has color illustrations. (That statement will resonate with most JW's because they are convinced that leaving the org. is tantamount to leaving Jehovah.)

The WT daily comment sounds as if it came directly from the "legal department".
The "writing department" fell short of saying "out loud/explaining" what the statement, "make your choice clear" actually means in real terms.
Too much negative press focused on WT's "shunning" policy. And, why bother, every JW already knows what it means.

I should have added that Solomon was Jehovah's choice. God even told David that Solomon would become his son. Of course, Solomon became an apostate. But before he became an apostate, he had Jehovah's blessing. He was faithful and discreet, for a time. So it was what the WT would call a theocratic appointment. In that respect, Solomon represents Jesus, and Adonijah, who had himself crowned as king, typifies the false Christs who will arise during the parousia.

When you look at the so-called Christian religions —all main denominations and sects and all the hogwash they dish out —the Watchtower has been nothing short of revolutionary as far as teaching the simple doctrinal truth. At least it was in the beginning. It amazes me that people still believe the trinity and hellfire and all of that nonsense. But now the Watchtower has become like the tyrannical churches that have for centuries opposed the truth. That's because the Devil doesn't sleep.
 
The ORG would like people to think that they are the ones who decide who is a servant of Jehovah and who is not serving Jehovah. That’s why I don’t feel comfortable ever saying that someone does not serve God. Circumstances change and I cannot read minds. But it is Jehovah who will make the distinction between a true servant and those who are only serving their own selfish interests. Jehovah’s choice has most often been bewildering to humans, who just could not see what Jehovah saw in them.

Malachi 3:16-18: “At that time those who fear Jehovah spoke with one another, each one with his companion, and Jehovah kept paying attention and listening. And a book of remembrance was written before him for those fearing Jehovah and for those meditation on his name. ‘And they will be mine,’ says Jehovah of armies, ‘in the day when I produce a special property. I will show them compassion, just as a man shows compassion to his son who serves him. And you will again see the distinction between a righteous person and a wicked person, between one serving God and one not serving him.’”

1 Samuel 16:11-13: “Finally Samuel said to Jesse: ‘Are these all of your boys?’ To this he said: ‘The youngest has been left out until now; he is pasturing the sheep.’ Then Samuel said to Jesse: ‘Send for him, because we will not sit down for the meal until he comes here.’ So he sent for him and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, with beautiful eyes, and handsome in appearance. Then Jehovah said: ‘Get up, anoint him, for this is the one!’ So, Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers. And the spirit of Jehovah began to empower David from that day forward. Samuel later rose and went his way to Ramah.”

In retrospect I think it quite possible to thrive in watchtower in a state of total inertia - possibly even make it to the rank of elder. Armed with a copy of the Truth that leads to everlasting life and a stock phrase of “wait upon Jehovah”, and attending all meetings one can not fail to progress amongst men. The only people I ever knew to be censured were those that maintained independent thought and decided for themselves whether they would attend meetings and these ones always had something of value to say - but were feared by elders. The whole approach to salvation in watchtower has become one through approval of men.

One has to approve of one’s self first before approving of anyone else - and that task is never ending.
