The Chosen TV Series

Do you think the success of The Chosen played a roll in such a production? Here's the weird part to all this. They should be able to make the best Jesus movie because they know the truth about Jesus and Jehovah. But something tells me it won't be as good. I'll be interested to see if they try to use the story of Jesus to encourage trusting the faithful slave. They work that into a lot of their movies. It's weird. Regardless, I look forward to seeing what they make. Their movies aren't terrible. I just think they could be a lot better without the hints of propaganda.
Yes, I think they looked at the crowd funding successes and popularity of it and saw that kind of project could be a significant draw for donation revenue. I agree the society has the capacity to easily make the most accurate and good season of a Gospels tv show and i wish the best for the project but I'm like you feeling pessimistic. Most JW movies the past fifteen years have been good sometimes there's one or two annoying things in one or another but fairly minor the only time I felt dissatisfied was the Daniel movie a lot of it was good but I felt they underbudgeted it in some respects like not showing lions and breezed through some parts of the book.

If their production motive is for profit in donations, then they will not be successful. Ever. All their wealth has come from the moral abuse of investment, questionable stock investment, allegiances, such as with the UN and now in government handouts for cooperation. Selling what is not theirs to sell and profiteering in such things as disaster insurance. Their attitude and motives towards the brothers donations to them was enshrined in their reckless dealings with the Courts when they chose to pay massive daily fines in a reckless gamble with Jehovah’s belongings to avoid justice in their wrongdoing. They even previously denied Jehovah at the Australian commission, saying it would be ‘presumptuous to assume they were His only channel”. They steal His possessions, deny His authority, abuse His people while they set themselves up in luxury, live a first class life, waited on by a retinue of servants and enjoy the worship of others while squabbling with each other, even ousting those that might disagree with them. And they are second rate Disney wannabes too. They will set up a ”WatchtowerLand” resort next - “Come and meet your favourite GB character. Kids go free. Everyone taken for a ride!”

This is exactly how I feel.

The fact he pointed out that people have asked him if he was a Trinitarian must mean Trinity people watched the show and got confused since he seems to avoid Trinity references. Even in the video, he refers to Jesus as the son of God. Dallas is almost certainly Trinitarian. Yet it's almost as if he has chosen not to insert his personal beliefs to make the show as good as it can be. That's really quite remarkable.
The amount of those in Christendom that don't believe in Trinity is few and far between. You can pretty much say they all are.

Yep, and that makes it all the more interesting the way in which Dallas chose to tell this story. Don't get me wrong. They could still ruin it later. It's just up to this point the trinity references have been negligible. Any other "Christian" studio would have it center stage from day one.

This thread brings these things to my mind. Jehovah has used non-worshippers to execute judgment against his people, but he never to my knowledge used a non-worshipper to spread his message. We do have the example of the servant girl in Philippi who had a spirit of divination. What she was saying was correct but the source of it was objectionable and not approved by Jehovah. Paul could have marveled at how she was speaking the truth, but he wasn’t impressed with her message even though it was true.

Acts 16:16-17: “Now it happened that as we were going to the place of prayer, a servant girl with a spirit, a demon of divination, met us. She supplied her masters with much profit by fortune-telling. This girl kept following Paul and us and crying out with the words: “These men are slaves of the Most High God and are proclaiming to you the way of salvation.” She kept doing this for many days. Finally Paul got tired of it and turned and said to the spirit: “I order you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And it came out that very hour.”

Titus 1:16: “They publicly declare that they know God, but they disown him by their works, because they are detestable and disobedient and not approved for good work of any sort.”

Google did not yield much in the way of specific numbers for the entire globe, but according to the World Christian Encyclopedia there are at least 33,000 Christian denominations in the United States.
Not surprisingly, Protestant Christianity makes up the bulk of different denominations, counting 9,000 mainstream and 22,000 independent for a total of 31,000.
Guess how many of them are Trinitarian? I don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised those that are not can be counted by the number of fingers that you have.

Most "Christians" don't even count JW's as Christians at all. Nothing on the top 100 list. Number of active JWs in the US is over 1 million according to the latest Yearbook data. They should slot in #12.

I see you like details. Great job!

Just to bring some balance, here is Jesus' words about a similar issue:

Mark 9
38 John said to him: “Teacher, we saw someone expelling demons by using your name, and we tried to prevent him, because he was not following us.”+ 39 But Jesus said: “Do not try to prevent him, for there is no one who will do a powerful work on the basis of my name who will quickly be able to say anything bad about me. 40 For whoever is not against us is for us.+ 41 And whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because you belong to Christ,+ I tell you truly, he will by no means lose his reward.+

I understand what you are saying, however, this was during a time when they were preaching only to the Jews. The preaching work had not yet opened to the non-Jews. So, they were still Jehovah’s worshippers since they had not yet been rejected by Jehovah. Big difference.

This is actually a good point. The girl who got possessed is an individual, while for example the group behind the Chosen TV series is more of an organization. Also, most people may be guided by demons, but not outright possessed. He uses whatever means necessary to send the message, even if it means those that are not entirely truthful.

What's needed is that we need to be careful and guard our hearts, so the erroneous parts of the message they send doesn't affect us as well and cause us to astray.

I don’t see the connection to being approved to spread a message. This speaks of a reward. I just don’t see it.

What do you mean by approved? Isn't the point is to bring people to Christ. I've heard about a lot of people starting to believe after watching this show. The point is believing in Jesus. He is the water of life.

Well, I quoted the scriptures that talk about being approved in a recent comment, just above. That is inspired and God’s word. I don’t argue about Jesus and your points but Jehovah’s name and his sovereignty are also main points that if you follow Jesus you would know they are at the top of the list.

And, to add, the demons believe in Jesus.

James 2:19: “You believe that there is one God, do you? You are doing quite well. And yet the demons believe and shudder.”

My understanding is that people behind the series come from variety of denominations. The creator of the show expressed that he wanted to stay as close to the bible as possible without giving it any denominational bias. Ultimately his wish is that this series show the people the human Jesus, and that it brings them to him. He wants this show to brong glory to Jesus. I think that's a noble thing to do and that Jesus would approve. Now regarding the interpretations and doctrines, no one has it completely right as of yet, so the whole discussion about that aspect is kinda redundant because everyone has something to say, which detracts from message about Jesus.
