The Commentary on James

Does anyone have this book in their library, I used to have it and loved it but the WT quit printing it and it is not in the library at all.
I believe this is because the two brothers who helped in the research were disfellowshipped as apostates...
I know a brother that talked about that publication often. I never read it myself, it was out of circulation before my time.

funny (not in a good way) how WT does that with its publications. Down the memory hole. . .

I have it though haven't read it my former bethelite mother loved it and she was oblivious to that scandal regarding its author till I explained a few months ago.

This was the one book that I recall focused so much on Christian love.......https://www.amazon.com/Commentary-Letter-James-watchtower-bible/dp/B000I16AW8/ref=sr_1_1?crid=1AYDOU3NNG72G&keywords=commentary+on+the+letter+of+james&qid=1655843144&sprefix=commentary+on+the+letter+of+james%2Caps%2C344&sr=8-1#customerReviews

I can give it to you in PDF format in two files. I can upload it onto filehosting.org if you want it. I used Word to copy it out of the 2001 Library DVD and then sent it to PDF but Word got full so it's in two files.

@Asadour

I remember years ago we were having some problems in the congregation that reminded me of some of the same things that I‘d read in James. For some reason this book was missing from my library so I asked an elder if he had a copy I could borrow. I found it to be very interesting but I was looking at it from the standpoint of the congregation.

But of course we now realize the congregation was only following the same example as what WT was doing.

I don't know what is in the commentary book, but I wonder if there is any commentary on this scripture:

James 5:15 Is there anyone sick among you? Let him call the elders of the congregation to him, and let them pray over him, applying oil to him in the name of Jehovah. 15 And the prayer of faith will make the sick one well, and Jehovah will raise him up.

Commentary: unless there is a vaccine made by men for a lab made bio-weapon with a 99.7% survival rate.

Edit: here I go again with the flippant posts. I am going to unplug the machine for a few days.

noooo don’t go. We need you. It’s ok, we are all in agreement- i know i am. It’s incredibly difficult to come to terms with the fact that the leadership of Watchtower are murderers. Yes, i said it. They are bloodguilty. Though we may be stumbled out of Watchtower, we’re NOT stumbled out of Jehovah’s love and his protection.

John 16:1 “I have said these things to you so that you may not be stumbled. Men will expel you from the synagogue. In fact, the hour is coming when everyone who kills you will think he has offered a sacred service to God.

There was a time when i didn’t know or even conceive that this verse could ever refer to Jehovah’s people. And now, in all its clarity, it refers to no one BUT Jehovah’s people.

The last couple of days I have been in a funk. I think I need to go pray on the top of the mountain where there is less evil radiation.

EDIT: Communication by bursts of text often do not convey thoughts very well, and are interpreted in many ways. Meaning may be lost or even found when it is not there at all.

To clarify my last few comments: I find that I have posted some poorly considered comments lately. In an edit I said that I would take a break from posting. Leaving the forum is not something I have ever considered. When I do post I usually think before I click send, and many times my thought is "I can't post that, I don't know what I am talking about". Sometimes the thought escapes me.

All of you people here are true believers: passionate and caring I know without doubt. I have shared more with you in three months than I have in my lifetime with others. Above I made another comment that was really odd: "I think I need to go pray on the top of the mountain where there is less evil radiation." Nobody could know what I meant, it was sort of short hand for what I do sometimes. The evil radiation I was referring to is the spirit of the air, and probably some of the radio frequency in the densely populated bowl shaped smog catching basin where I live. I sometimes ride my motorcycle to the highest point in the mountains and spend some time there taking in the view of creation and praying in a place where I feel more connected. The "less evil" was not pointed at the forum, though I see now that it may have been construed as such.

We should all have a thick skin, because the world where we live has no mercy. (I feel the need to post a bunch of scripture here, but will spare you.) At times the bashing of the WT and GB can be pretty poignant. Some may not understand the reasons for this and if they do not understand it, they should really look into it because there is good reason. That said we do need to be careful not to be calling for their destruction, rather calling to them to repent and avoid it. (here I am not saying that anyone has posted that they call for the destruction of the organization, only that a reader might interpret it as such... I am being careful to clarify today, as I always try to do.)

So, for my own sanity, I do plan to refrain from posting unless something meaningful, and that I have the time to properly communicate. That said, I tend to be a very serious person to a fault. There are times that humor and music is just what we need, and I in no way want to suggest that people should not post such.

I've deleted a few of my replies. Most days all I feel is sarcasm to the world and what is happening. We are pretty much at the crossover point. There will be a kind of a snap as we move into the difficult part. Maybe stay on here as long as you can. Might make a difference that you don't know about yet. I don't have the congregation now because at this point I don't trust the organization to not hand me over to the beast. That's just what I feel right now.

I don’t have that book. However, KevinB has posted a link to something very interesting that he wrote and he put the link on the thread “Music with a Message“. You might enjoy it. It is long but I think it’s worth reading. I found it upbuilding and timely.

Did I miss something? What’s happened? Why does @LifeLearning want to leave the forum? Or maybe she can answer that…

hi @Ms_ladyblue

it was nothing major- just about making flippant comments toward WT leadership.

I think it’s safe to say that we’re all equally incredibly disgusted and dismayed about what’s going on over at Bethel Headquarters.

I think too most of us know that Jehovah’s spirit has gone away from the Watchtower organization, and it’s now being completely directed by the authority of men in expensive suits.

That makes this organization very dangerous, it’s wielding an authoritarian power over God’s people that is above and beyond scrutiny (publicly showing himself to be a god).

I can understand why some on the forum might be sensitive to some of the comments made. I know of a brother that use to be on this forum who got off because of the negative talk about WT.

Well we can’t bury our head in the sand forever. It is what it is…So they should think about this, and tell me if I’m mistaken…when we read the Bible aren’t there several times we read of ‘negative’ comments that the prophets spoke about concerning the lawless deeds of the leadership of Jehovah’s people and what about the apostle Paul who spoke about those ones in his letters as well.

As long as we’re speaking what is factual and true why let this be disturbing for them.
Of course it’s not healthy to constantly be ranting about all the different atrocities that the WT has done but I guess we need to be balanced. And naturally we would have to take into consideration how Jehovah feels about this.

Maybe we could think about how others feel when too much hostility is being expressed toward the organization and therefore be too much for some to be exposed to and may take awhile for some to adjust because of learning about all the wrongs that are taking place. Don’t get me wrong I can get on my high horse and go to ranting too.

But it helps if I keep reminding myself of the one thing Jehovah will no doubt do very soon now because his word says; “Vengeance is mine; I will repay’, says Jehovah.”

I have been personally blessed by prayers from the brothers and sisters of this site over the past year especially. It's important to mention this as many of us are living alone ostracized from family and former congregants. This site provides communion and spiritual comfort. Let's pray each day for our host and each other.

(Matthew 17:17) In reply Jesus said: “O faithless and twisted generation, how long must I continue with you? How long must I put up with you?

(Matthew 16:23) But turning his back, he said to Peter: “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me, because you think, not God’s thoughts, but those of men.”

Sorry, but I don’t get your reply. What would you like us to take away from you posting those scriptures?

Ms_Ladyblue referred to a brother who was offended by negative comments and asked: "tell me if I’m mistaken…when we read the Bible aren’t there several times we read of ‘negative’ comments"
So I provided a couple of examples where Jesus himself made negative comments, one where he called his own disciples "faithless and twisted", and the other where he called Peter Satan.

So have I!!! Prayer is the most powerful thing we have at our disposal right now.

We all know that scripture “pray incessantly” (that’s from the older NWT version, not sure if they updated that verse) and again, not to beat a dead horse, but these scriptures are all so fully focused now, it incredible, may i say JOYFUL, to read them with such clarity.

yes that seems to be somewhat of a dividing line- incld. what constitutes a negative comment in the first place.

Thank you for your response to that. I’m still relatively new at this (came out of WT last year and found ewatchman in Nov of last year, 2021) and i’m still not sure if the prevailing doctrine is that: are JWs still under the authority of the Gov Body (regardless of the status, let’s not muddy the waters with status) ?
