Today my 43 yr old son sent me the attached article. This police chief (Joel Womochil) that was just sentenced to 60 yrs in prison was my son’s childhood friend. Joel grew up as a Jehovah’s Witness. Let me give you Joel’s background. His mother Carla was one of the first witnesses I met in 1981 Carla was striking beautiful. Carla was one that stuck out in a crowd… her straight long blonde hair was so long she could sit on her hair. To this day I don’t know many women with her beauty. Carla and her husband Glen had no children when I met them….two years later news traveled through the Circuit that Carla had left Glen for a new Bible study. Carla left Glen for about 4 months only for her to decide she wanted to come home… Glen excepted Carla home with open arms… there was one issue Carla was pregnant … yes Carla came home pregnant and Glen welcomed her home. Carlas entire pregnancy Glen never left her side. At the circuit assembly’s everyone watched how Glen was excited about his new son… his name was Joel. Of course Carla was disfellowshipped but she soon was reinstated. I moved to the Abilene Kansas congregation when Joel was 10 yrs old. Shortly after my move to Abilene Joel’s mom Carla died young from breast cancer. A side bar… from the day Carla was reinstated she pioneered until the day she died. Shortly after Carlas death… I worked at the local radio station in 1996 I was sitting at my desk in my office when our local newscaster who had a deep
Deep voice .. walked in and stopped to talk very loudly with the secretaries at their desk. That day in 1996 the law had past where convicted pedophiles had to register with the local court house. This newscaster had been down at the local court house to get the local names. The first thing he said when he walked in… he was screaming these words….can you believe this Jehovah’s Witness (that everyone knew) was going door to door in our community for years and he Was a convicted pedophile. I immediately ran out of my office and I asked him what was his name??? Of course in a small town I knew who it was. I was in shock. I went back to my office and I called an elder that I was close to. ( this elder was Joel’s grandfather). I asked him to meet me with another elder at the Kingdom Hall. I met both brothers and told them the story about this brother in our congregation who was a registered child sexual offender. This brother who was registered was married with 5 adopted children. The elder that I asked to meet me … his grandson Joel was always without exception in service with this brother. The reason I asked the grandfather of Joel to meet me was I knew he needed to know this information. As it turned out the elder /grandfather told me he was aware of the situation but the accused brother told the body of elders that if he did not plead guilty that he would have prison time instead of a slap on the wrist but that he was innocent. Today I get this news about Joel I am heartbroken

As a child Joel had more than usual time and unaccompanied adults with him. Because Joel’s mom was a pioneer and Joel was homeschooled Joel was in service more than he was schooled.

BTW another sidebar of this story. Joel’s grandparents also Jehovah’s Witnesses on his mother side owned a house in Herington Kansas ( not far from Abilene Ks ). Guess who Joel’s grandparents rented their house to…. Terry Nichols the Oklahoma City bomber. I remeber Joel’s grandfather telling me the FBI destroyed his property… they tore the his house down to the studs. The fbi paid the rent for several years then turned it back

This is page 77 of the Australian Royal Commissions final report on there findings and investigations. If you can honestly read this and find it acceptable to further associate with people who obviously have severe mental issues and sit in an organization that allows this i wish you all the best. I hope you can sleep at night.

Having regard to the various matters we have discussed in this report, we have reached a number of general conclusions on the Jehovah’s Witness organization’s response to the sexual abuse of children. We do not consider the Jehovah’s Witness organization to be an organization which responds adequately to child sexual abuse. We do not believe that children are adequately protected from the risk of sexual abuse for the following reasons
:• The organization relies on outdated policies and practices to respond to allegations of child sexual abuse. Also, those policies and practices are not subject to ongoing and continuous review. The policies and practices are, by and large, wholly inappropriate and unsuitable for application in cases of child sexual abuse. The organization’s retention and continued application of policies such as the two-witness rule in cases of child sexual abuse shows a serious lack of understanding of the nature of child sexual abuse
.• The organization’s internal disciplinary system for addressing complaints of child sexual abuse is not child or survivor focused in that it is presided over by males and offers a survivor little or no choice about how their complaint is addressed
.• The sanctions available within the organization’s internal disciplinary system are weak and leave perpetrators of child sexual abuse at large in the organization and the community
.• In deciding the sanctions to impose and/or precautions to take in relation to a known or suspected perpetrator, the organization has inadequate regard to the risk that that perpetrator might reoffend. This demonstrates a serious lack of understanding of the nature and impact of child sexual abuse

And just to add to that, in the elders book it says that from a congregation standpoint they don't view watching CSA as actual CSA but depending on how often someone watches it they should be strongly counseled 🫣🤯 I have no idea how they have the courage to leave this paragraph in..

They conveniently have left out that viewing child porography is a serious crime.

u yea excellent point. Im surprised i didnt pick up on that one. Just imagine standing on a street corner cart witnessing with your young son with another brother whos being counseled because he cant stop watching child pornography.
 
Why is this child stuff so common nowadays? My cousin is sitting in prison right now for downloading it from the internet. For some reason, in a lot of these cases meth is involved. In others, it seems to stem from pornography addiction. Not saying everyone who watches porn is going to become a child predator, although it does seem to be a precursor. People get hooked on that dopamine release. Over time they have to get more and more depraved content just to keep the cycle going. You'd think it was just an isolated case here and there, but it's way more prevalent than you can imagine. It's not just men, either. How many cases have we seen lately of female teachers sleeping with students? In fact, I remember hearing about another woman a few days ago being arrested for abusing young men. I don't know if it's always been this bad, and we're just now seeing how bad it is, or if people are truly losing their collective minds.

I realized I left out key information…. Joel’s mom and dad failed to tell Joel that Glenn was not his biological father. When Joel reached adult age … Joels childhood friend from the congregation told him. When he realized he grew up in a congregation that everybody knew Glenn was not his biological father but him… he felt deceived. That was the moment he left and he never came back.

Yeh but if he watches it on a frequent basis then he will face a judicial committee, so that's ok then? 🙄
 
It's true that The Watchtower as an organisation is guilty of covering up CSA, but 95% of the individuals are innocent and most of them are even unaware that it happens.
( Having said that , I am not in a hurry to go back and associate with them due to my medical disorder:
A pathological inability to tolerate fools.)

This guy puts it well. I don't know much about him, but I agree with a lot of his points in this video. It seems the higher up you go in the Org the worse people get. I got a buddy at work who told me some secondhand stories about the people running the headquarters in Patterson New York. It's secondhand, so take it how you will, but I tend to believe him because he's not the kind of guy to make things up. He knows people who worked at the facilities there as non-JWs. Apparently, they contract out workers for various things. According to him, they treat their workers like garbage. It goes right along with some of the points the man in this video raise about the higher-ups in the Org.
