The watchtower and the UN

I will admit to not having kept up with Watchtower publications. I will look forward to the answers on this one but I think I already know the answer. When they started promoting the UN in the pages of our magazines it caught my attention right away. I would say around 1994 was when I first noticed it. When I say promote, that is to say that I am sure there was a back room meeting where our leaders explained that it would take time to walk away from our previous stance and comply with the requirements of being an NGO.
They may have publicly removed themselves as an NGO but these things are not so easily dissolved in my opinion. Like borrowing money from the mafia. You can pay it back in full but you still pay the vig. You make an agreement with the devil and he will demand his interest.

On the one hand, it seemed very insightful for the Watchtower to identify the United Nations as the eighth king. After all, the Anglo-American world power was the UN's strongest advocate. But there is something that does not add up or fit into the prophetic picture. Never mind the fact that the leaders of the Watchtower have committed spiritual prostitution with the very organization they have identified as the scarlet-colored seven-headed beast from the abyss. They will answer for their unfaithfulness. Of that, you may be certain. What doesn't fit though is the fact that both the seventh and eighth kings are ruling concurrently. Except, they are not.
In spite of all the ballyhoo, the United Nations is a paper tiger. It has no real authority over sovereign nations. So, the "insight" of the seers of Bethel is actually part of the operation of Satan faking his ouster. It is all tied into that because the beast only claws itself out of the abyss as a result of the catastrophe the world will experience when the Devil and all of his angels come down in a great rage. When the eighth king begins his allotted reign of one hour the seventh king will be subject to him. All national sovereignty will be dissolved and the UN will function as a world government. That's when Christ will speak through his chosen ones.

Watchtower Society - United Nations NGO Status 1992
In 1992, the Watchtower became an associate member NGO of the United Nations. The hypocrisy of such affiliation has greatly offended and led large numbers of Jehovah's Witnesses to leave.
