The "We'll forget everything" People

I was taught from the start of my studies with the witnesses that the scripture was talking about the annointed ones, us mere mortals will still be able to marry and have kids and Jehovah will somehow make sure the planet doesn't get overpopulated. He created procreation, he can switch it off, a bit like the car manufacturers do now, you want access to the heated seats in your car? then you can have them switched on, at a price of course!!
In the eighties the watchtower sent a chilling message that there would be no marrying in the new system! We were saddened and thought how can this be truth at the proper time. This has since been corrected! Yet back in 87 Watchtower reasoning is based on a misapplication of Luke 20:34-36, which is discussing a resurrection to heaven, where it says:
"The children of this system of things marry and are given in marriage, but those who have been counted worthy of gaining that system of things and the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage. In fact, neither can they die any more, for they are like the angels, and they are Gods children by being children of the resurrection."
Here is what they said before the correction:
"Some have felt that Jesus was here referring to the heavenly resurrection, yet there are reasons to believe that his reply was about the earthly resurrection in the coming “system of things.” https://wol.jw.org/en/wol/d/r1/lp-e/1987409

So, I know this scripture comes up a lot. It's the one about people not marrying and being like angels. Some think this means we won't have relationships in the new system. Other take it a step further by asserting we won't remember who anyone is in paradise. I reject all of those assumptions. Found a video that goes right along with this old thread. Yes, this young man doesn't fully understand paradise. He's just an everyday believer. He's not a JW, so he believes everyone goes to heaven. He likely believes in the trinity and other falsehoods. But try to get around that for a moment. He is very knowledgeable. It is my firm belief that everyone has something to teach us, and I think all of you will appreciate many of his thoughts here.

“Moderation in all things”. The females of all species have periods of fertility and not so fertile. It’s reasonable to assume then, that in perfection the “come hither” look could be relied upon. Maybe headaches will become a thing of the past. Maybe we will not have to negotiate airborne pots and pans and other well favoured missiles of rejection. It would be best all round if men could just wise-up to the singular fact NOT to plant fruit trees in the garden. For some reason, women cannot resist them. Let’s agree not to go through all this again. Once is enough.

Wow! I missed that bit, or the person teaching me missed it!! 😂

I remember that Mick. I thought at the time how that could possibly be so. It was just another contradiction in natural feeling from watchtower, I being happily married at the time. How could others spend a life apart without the comfort of another soul to share life’s intimacies and joys while others could? Why should attraction between the sexes be so delightful and yet denied later? There was no consistency. Of course, when queried, I got the old flannel of “wait upon Jehovah”. It’s the sort of gaslighting through ignorance and the assumed role of teacher that the GB took upon themselves that has developed like a cancer in the watchtower into today’s utter confusion of the truth. Maybe the idea had its genesis from some bethelite in the writing department with “mother-in-law” experience - and looking for a way out in the future. That’s understandable.🤣

The funny thing is, I love fruit trees! I've squashed loads into our tiny garden!!
I have some small trees too. Cox’s apples and a cherry tree. It was our first year for the cherry tree, and we got one cherry. We shared it - half each. I had ten apples growing, also first year, only two of which survived and both of those wouldn’t ripen so hopefully, next year! It was a lot to hope for. My wife has bought a some planters for strawberries and we are going to have them coming out of our ears next year 38 plants she got!! 🤣 I wonder if the dog might get there first!

I remember it gutted ones who were waiting for being reunited with their loved ones only to be dashed. Absolute slavery to the whims of man we were; there is scripture that describes ones still in throws of belief in Bethel Isa42:22 "But this is a people plundered and pillaged all of them are trapped in the holes and hidden in the prisons. They have been plundered with no one to rescue them" But vs 23 describes us Barnaby "Who among you will hear this and listen for the time to come?...This is us dear B we are the ones listening....were no longer trapped in Bethel's holes....part of their plunder......The truth has set us free!

Our cherry trees only gave us 6 in year 1 but the following year dozens! The longer you leave your apples on the tree the sweeter they become, I'm still picking mine, as and when I need them. I'm the same with strawberries, I've got about 100 new plants this year, all from the runners!!

There will be a resurrection of both the righteous and the un-righteous. Could it be that each who have died is safe in Jehovah's memory as the scriptures indicate, so then why would Jehovah need to update the program? since the 1000 yrs is a restoration period. After all, there will be a final test for everyone after the 1000 yrs.
I don't know for sure but we won't be like we were back then. Some people had mental and emotional issues that may have been traumatic, they won't have that trauma anymore.

I agree Jehovah won't resurrect them with half a head, or their guts blown out, or would he? I cant see that he would need to update what makes us unique, otherwise why would he need to remember each one? Maybe I'm just speculating.

You can say dwarfism or down syndrome adds to a person's unique like qualities. They are all birth defects and when they are resurrected they will look different and think different. Those resurrected would be identified as having no belly button, just like Adam and Eve didn't as another example of this.

Jehovah could if he wanted to, add a belly button just for cosmetic purposes though? Like men have nipples.. unless they have another purpose I don't know about? :)

The 1000 yrs is the period when all the defects/inherited sin are corrected. But I get your point ( I think? ) When a person dies they have been acquitted from their sin. Not sure I would agree that downs syndrome, or Bipolar or any other deformity physical or mental, is in the likeness of God.

Also we need to keep in mind that deformities can be related to the move away from perfection. The further away from perfection man got, the more pronounced the imperfections prehaps. which means and to your point I think? people will not be resurrected with deformities, ( Which, I would argue are not unique let alone "qualities" as you put it ) The same way People will not come back with parts missing. That is why I can't see any reason for Jehovah to re-write the program. But what do I know?

One thing we can be certain of is that what Jehovah has promised for the future, will come to pass.
Just not according to OUR specs, but according to his will and purpose.

A belly button is not a deformity neither is it unique it is part of procreation, regardless of weather or not Adam sinned.

I think I'd rather see a belly button on someone's belly than not see one though 🤪 it gives the stomach some, errr 🤔"je nais se quoi" 😆

Yeah right. Its just a belly button. Whats to describe? We get about with our umbilical chord hanging out of mothers snatch prehaps, or is it more appropriate for someone to cut and tie it off?👀

Maybe there's a better word I could use rather than "unique" and change the word to imperfections instead. Our previous thoughts would be reset to what we were raised into liking or used to. Being born in a certain culture, we would forget. Not all cultures we were raised in helped us, some cultures have caused us traumatic experiences which gave us bad habits.

I'm now totally lost in this conversation, mind you, I've always been told that I'm slow to "get" jokes and things 😚

If I'm not mistaken, the "And the former things will not be called to mind" applies to AFTER Satan has been unleashed once more and destroyed forever. Afterwards the 'sheep' will receive eternal life thanks to the ransom sacrifice of Jesus, but NOT immortal life like the anointed ones, meaning they will still be mortal just as Adam was and the angels are, at least if I understand Isaiah 65:17-20 correctly.

Isaiah 65 17-20

"For look! I am creating new heavens and a new earth; And the former things will not be called to mind, Nor will they come up into the heart.18 So exult and be joyful forever in what I am creating. For look! I am creating Jerusalem a cause for joy And her people a cause for exultation.19 And I will rejoice in Jerusalem and exult in my people; No more will there be heard in her the sound of weeping or a cry of distress.”20 “No more will there be an infant from that place who lives but a few days, Nor an old man who fails to live out his days. For anyone who dies at a hundred will be considered a mere boy, And the sinner will be cursed, even though he is a hundred years of age."
Isaiah 11:9
Sometimes I wonder if rather than killing someone who choose to sin instantly, if Jehovah will simply cut them off from from the resources that provides and enables an individual to live forever, along with his holyspirit. That individual would start the aging process like what we experience now. Someone walking around in the new system with "Old Age" and "Sickness" Until they eventually die, would definitely be concidered cursed and it would be horrifying especially to onlookers who never experienced old age and death. Who would want to associate with such a person like that? The "Cursed" one would be a walking reminder...a warning of the severe consequences of those who choose to rebel against Christ and his God.

As long as they don't get angry and start to take things out on those not cursed.. 🥹
