"Touched" by Holy Spirit?

Hi everyone -

I am wondering if anyone else has had this kind of specific experience:

Around 1997 or 1998 I was living in a city in Ontario Canada, and had just dropped out of university. I went to the gym one evening and was walking home across a big park in the downtown portion of the city. It was wintertime, very cold and dark around 6pm. I was feeling lost, alone, sad, broken hearted, and wondering what had become of my life and what direction it was heading. I was questioning my relationship with everyone and everything…with Jehovah, my family, my friends. I was completely overwhelmed with sadness and despair.

As I continued walking through the park, I very suddenly, yet very briefly, felt what I would call a “small portion of Holy Spirit” come over me for about 1-2 seconds. It literally felt like God or one of his angels was saying to me “don’t worry, we know what you’re going through, you are going to be okay…we got you”.

This feeling stopped me dead in my tracks. I had never felt anything like this before in my life. I’m not saying it was any sort of anointing, it was more like Jehovah was actually showing me a small yet powerful portion of his Holy Spirit to let me know that he is 100% real, and He can LITERALLY give people strength and encouragement.

It was just a “sprinkling”, but to this day it was the best feeling I’ve ever had in my life. Never have I felt both so low yet so high in my life…It happened almost 25 years ago and I have never forgotten it. It was the greatest, most unique feeling I’ve ever felt. Something that no one can ever take away from me. To this day I still pray and thank Jehovah for what I felt that day, I have never forgotten it.

I dunno…there was just something very special and powerful about it.

Did it mean anything? Has anyone else every felt this? Are there biblical examples of this happening?

Just trying to make sense of it.
I know exactly what you're talking about. This once happened to me about 6 or 7 years ago while I was driving down the road. I was actually still living as an unbeliever at the time. Seemingly out of nowhere Jehovah's spirit hit me like a truck. It probably only last a couple seconds but it was unmistakable. This was right before I got in a bunch of legal trouble. It's almost like Jehovah was warning me that things were about to get bad but to not lose hope. I didn't understand it then but I understand it now. That was the start of my de conversion from disbelief. Jehovah in his mercy knew what was about to happen, and he saw fit to prepare me for it. This is proof that Jehovah is a personal God, that he knows what we're going through and he cares for us.

Thank you for sharing. I appreciate that others out there have had similar experiences. I pray that Jehovah still understands what I'm going through. I find myself praying to him more than ever before especially with the end so near. I am scared but I remind myself of what Jesus said about not being terrified. I ask Jehovah to bless every effort I put forth to recognize him as the only true God, and to recognize what his son Jesus has done for us. I also beg God to read my heart and ask for compassion and mercy (Romans 9:15), and I ask Him to bless every effort I put forth to witness to my 9 year old son.

The most obvious way that I was 'touched' by holy spirit was when I was unexpectedly invited to partake. At that time my whole life 'flashed before my eyes' and I saw it from a totally different perspective. I realized that Jehovah had been with me ever since my 'accidental' conception and has been doing extraordinary things for me both before and after I began serving Him, too many to number or explain.

It was during the 2021 Convention on August when I watched a video where brothers and sisters were shown who are hardworking and have sacrificed their lives to become bethelites and volunteers on construction projects.

At that time, I began to question Jehovah why He has chosen me instead of them.(As I had many failures and disappointments I made to Him, that I feel I am unworthy before I get baptized and after getting baptized) There are many others out there who I think are more deserving as they are achieving their goals to be pioneers and the likes. And it troubled me. Of course, I was grateful, but still doubts that I am unworthy goes into my mind that whole night.

That night I prayed with tears being grateful but at the same time, thinking and saying in my mind to Jehovah: “Why me Jehovah? When there are others more deserving?” It troubled me the whole night, even when I woke up in the morning. But when it was about lunch time and I’m still thinking about it, Jehovah answered me in the spirit: “They have their reward in full.” At that time, I felt peace and calmness. I understand what He meant and now I rejoice with the hope given to me.

I learned that there are two meanings on why Jehovah has said that.

1) We should do our ministry or service to not impress men, but God only. Unlike the Pharisees in the time of Jesus.

2) Jehovah really provided them richly with with their needs and other things.

I've been told that one of the marks of the anointed is their deep humility. You certainly demonstrate that.
