Reading posts about the NWO/eighth king here and on other forums, it seems to me that many are missing the giant plot twist that its rise to power will imply. It's a very convoluted topic but I wanted to explain shortly how I understand it.
The globalist apparatus in power today is not Satan's final goal. It is a stepping stone, designed first to transform and prepare the world for his full takeover, and then to plunge it into chaos and destruction, that the eighth king will "solve". Satan is too full of himself to become king of the current dysfunctional system, or to rule as a despised dark overlord over a dystopian world. He wants to rule as Lucifer, the angel of light, over something appealing, mesmerizing even: a global government that will end the madness, restore peace and security, and bring hope of a new beginning for mankind. A globalized world mimicking and counterfeiting Christ's kingdom as much as humanly possible, in order to mislead "if possible, even the very elect", before they are sealed and Christ returns.
To understand why it makes sense from Satan's perspective to proceed this way, consider the following illustration. An immensely wealthy but evil man wanted to take over the factory of his enemy, who had left for a distant country. The evil man knew everything about the factory and how he would upgrade it. But he thought to himself: "I want to mechanize the factory, lay off most workers and keep only the best. If I just show up and start doing that, all workers will hate me and refuse to play along. No, I will remain in the shadows and instead, corrupt the current management. They will carry out all this destructive and hated effort for me, in a progressive manner so as not to cause uproar. Then, when their task reaches completion, I will make them turn outright crazy against the workers. As the factory descends into chaos and the workers finally rise up, I will appear to take over and end the madness. I will oust the crazy hierarchy and allow the workers to manage the factory for themselves, under my benevolent watch. Grateful, they will follow my lead everywhere, as sanity and order are restored in their lives. They'll never know that I had masterminded the whole scheme from the start. Because his best and most faithful workers choosing to follow me voluntarily, that will be my revenge against my enemy when he returns."
Bringing to life this global domination scheme has meant and will mean immense suffering to the human race. It has required technological development and a globalization process that have destroyed the lifestyles, traditions, families, nations of billions of people, and will finally "great-reset" off of the planet a large chunk of mankind. How can you get such an evil and dark scheme to finally be admired by the world? By flipping the narrative. Discard the apparatus that has caused such mayhem, and resurrect it with a new, benevolent and promising identity. Revelation describes this process as the death and rebirth of the wild beast in Revelation 17:8 : "The wild beast that you saw was, but is not, and yet is about to ascend out of the abyss, and it is to go off into destruction. And the inhabitants of the earth — those whose names have not been written in the scroll of life from the founding of the world — will be amazed when they see how the wild beast was, but is not, and yet will be present."
Only the spiritually discerning will understand that this new beast is the same old evil but with new clothes. Everyone else will be in awe as this new power structure rises from the ashes of global destruction, and unveils the wonders kept hidden by its predecessor: advanced science and medicine, free energy, one-world religion, etc.
Before that, Jehovah will allow Satan to unleash his murderous rage upon the world, as the first stages of retribution of His own condemnation. For the human elites carrying out Satan's plans, it will be about "culling the herd". For their spiritually and technologically advanced utopia to be a success, an equally advanced citizenry is required. Those they deem weak, stupid or unproductive, are not welcome. The Great Reset/Tribulation is about unleashing a "survival of the fittest" non-conventional, depopulation war, collapsing the current system and causing tremendous hardship and death, that will sort humanity out. I believe this war is already under way: the global covid/injection program is its first chapter, and what a chapter.
The chaos will gradually make the nations states system irrelevant, as resistance movements everywhere are forced to overcome national differences and come together as one against this as much global, common enemy. The king of the north and king of the south will become these two globalized fronts: the "evil" NWO in power today (KOTS), and the "benevolent" one, the global revolutionary forces/resistance (KOTN), that is already rising up in response to the covid vaccines assault. The real elites, behind the curtains, will be pulling the strings of both sides, as usual.
Remember that Satan's goal is to establish a global government transcending all differences in race, nation, language, status, etc. He knows that no top-down, technocratic rule like the UN's could ever achieve that and captivate the hearts of mankind. Only a rule of We, The People, born out of a global revolutionary movement, can. Like the US gained legitimacy to rule the world by ending the horrors of WW2, the victorious global resistance will be granted instant legitimacy and global acceptance when it ends the horrors of the NWO gone mad.
Global powers, the plan's architects, will choose to remain in the shadows and rule through a proxy beast coming from the people (the earth), as described in Revelation 13: 11 Then I saw a second beast, coming out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb, but it spoke like a dragon. 12 It exercised all the authority of the first beast on its behalf, and made the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose fatal wound had been healed.
This second beast will be a global, modernized communism organization, born out of the people's revolutionary movements. It will look benevolent, and yet be very totalitarian, forcing the world to worship the first beast, as highlighted by the expression "it had two horns like a lamb, but it spoke like a dragon".
This bizarre construct, combining in an unnatural mix the strength of the beast and the fragility of the people, is also described in Daniel chapter 2. Daniel saw in a vision a statue representing the succession of world powers that would rule the earth until the end. The feet represented the final stage of human rule before Christ puts an end to it : 41 And just as you saw the feet and the toes to be partly of clay of a potter and partly of iron, the kingdom will be divided, but some of the hardness of iron will be in it, just as you saw the iron mixed with soft clay. 42 And as the toes of the feet were partly of iron and partly of clay, so the kingdom will be partly strong and partly fragile. 43 Just as you saw iron mixed with soft clay, they will be mixed with the people; but they will not stick together, one to the other, just as iron does not mix with clay.

In a nutshell, my understanding is that today's dystopian United Nations/WHO/WEF and the lunatics working for them will never rule the world. They were intended to prepare the rise of the eighth king, and their work is almost done. Luciferians live by principles of hermeticism and alchemy, crazy for normal people, Ordo Ab Chao, Solve et Coagula, Creative Destruction, etc. Satan is a master illusionist, he wants everyone's attention focused on his right hand, while he's performing the trick in the left one. The chaos that is picking up steam is not the goal, the order that will follow is.
Satan wants his chance to tempt the best from mankind - those belonging to Christ, and particularly His anointed brothers - to worship him voluntarily through his beast, by taking its mark, the same way he attempted to make Jesus worship him. To achieve that he first needs to establish an appealing and convincing enough rival global rule, because what genuine brother of Christ would be impressed by the beast as it exists today? After that, however, the honeymoon will end, and the beast will soon reveal its true nature against those who refuse its mark...
