Watchtower's "Secret" Newspaper

Interesting discussion about a lesser known part from the history of the society.
The video discusses the discovery and insights gleaned from a historical newspaper called the St. Paul Enterprise/New Era Enterprise published by Bible Students from the 1900s-1920s.

Here are some key takeaways:
  • This paper provided first-hand accounts and perspectives on the events, debates, leadership changes and doctrinal developments within the early Bible Student movement.
  • Key figures like Russell, Rutherford and others were discussed in the pages, shedding light on political maneuverings and power struggles around the time of Russell's passing.
  • Independent thought and alternative narratives were occasionally published in contrast to the sole narrative promoted by Watch Tower leadership in later years.
  • Collectively this newspaper serves as an important historical source capturing the viewpoints and discussions of Bible Students during crucial transitional periods that are not widely documented elsewhere.

Yeah I know, that's why I used quotation marks for the word "Secret". In the video it was obvious that it wasn't secret.
It was at one time a regular newspaper that eventually publishes Russell's sermons. The owner of the paper converted and the paper became an extension of the Bible Students ministry. It changed names in the 1920s and eventually folded. A lot of stuff in there you won't find in any watchtower history

Thats some crazy stuff in there. Seeing the whole Bethel family around a Christmas tree in 1914 having dinner, goes so contrary to what you would expect. I wonder what they would think about the modern day organization if they saw it today?

Well, since Bible Students still exit today, I don't think they care too much as to what the Witnesses are doing.
