Wed Feb 7th - Satan stood up and incited David

Speaking of David's serious mistakes, the first thing that might come to mind is his adulterous tryst with Bathsheba, which led to David's murdering her husband to cover up her pregnancy. Yet, as serious as that was, the nation itself was not directly affected. The same cannot be said about another of David's "serious mistakes", a mistake that resulted in Jehovah unleashing a plague that killed 70,000 of David's countrymen. I am, of course, referring to David's ill-advised census.

Joab tried to dissuade the king from numbering Israel but David prevailed. Why did David do it? 1 Chronicles 21:1 gives us some insight. It says: "Then Satan stood up against Israel and incited David to number Israel." It is not clear to me why taking a census of Israel at that time was wrong. At other times similar censuses were taken. In any case, Satan knew it was wrong and that is why he overreached David and influenced the king to act in a way to incite Jehovah's judgment against Israel. And in time David himself realized his error and confessed: "But David’s heart was struck with remorse after he had numbered the people. David then said to Jehovah: “I have sinned greatly by doing this. And now, Jehovah, please forgive your servant’s error, for I have acted very foolishly.” - 2 Samuel 24:10

Jehovah's response came the next day. The prophet, Gad, presented David with three options, all equally unappealing: Seven years of famine, three months of fleeing before Israel's enemies, or three days of pestilence. David chose the three days, saying: “It is very distressing to me. Let us fall, please, into the hand of Jehovah, for his mercy is great; but do not let me fall into the hand of man.” - 2 Samuel 24:14 The scourage was only halted when David built an altar and sacrificed upon it.

Similarly, Satan has over-reached the leadership of the Watchtower and incited them to promote a very dangerous vaccine. Not so long ago the Watchtower was an outspoken critic of all vaccinations, portraying the procedure as a scheme of the Devil, but with the Covid pandemic, so-called, the Governing Body became zealous promoters of the United Nations, Bill Gates-funded, World Health Organization's universal vaccination program. Here is an excerpt from an article posted on e-watchman back in 2021:

While the day's text commends David for not trying to justify himself, can the Governing Body show the same contrition? After all, it is now known that the vaccine is neither safe nor effective. Even with all of the media coverup and tyrannical de-platforming of truth-telling experts, the truth has prevailed. The vaccines do not provide immunity. It is a fact that millions of people who took the vaccines also contracted COVID-19. It is also a fact that vaccinations do not prevent one from being an agent of contagion. Foremost, millions of people worldwide have had adverse reactions, and untold numbers of vaccinated persons have died. Will the Governing Body show the same humility as David and openly confess their sin before God and apologize to Jehovah's Witnesses for ill-advisedly promoting the vaccines and claiming that Jehovah directly provided the Pentagon-designed poison?

It is noteworthy that the three options Jehovah presented to David involved war, famine, and pestilence -- three of the four horsemen of the Apocalypse that are soon to be unleashed. Let he that hath an ear, hear.

I've always been interested in this sin of David. Why was what he did considered a sin? Why did the people have to suffer for it if it was his sin? I remember doing a bunch of research on it and some people drew some interesting conclusions.

One I liked was that there was a census tax in Israel and David forgot or outright neglected that. The people seemed to have forgot too. It's certainly not mentioned in the account.

Exodus 30:11–16

Then the Lord told Moses:12‘I want you to take a census of the children of IsraEl.‘Each [person] must pay Jehovah a ransom for his life, so no one will be destroyed when they’re visited.13‘This is what everyone who’s surveyed must give: half a double-silver coin (or 20 copper coins), which is to be used for the Holy Place as an offering to Jehovah.14‘Everyone from 20 years old and up who answers to the census must pay this offering to Jehovah. 15The rich won’t pay any more, and the poor won’t pay any less than the half double-silver coin that they must offer to reconcile their lives with Jehovah.16‘Then you must take the money that the children of IsraEl pay and use it for the services at the Tent of Proofs.‘The children of IsraEl must always remember to do this, so as to reconcile their lives [with Jehovah].’

It seems to be tied in with Jehovah's view of a ransom being owed for our lives. Something Christ made clear with his sacrifice.

Disrespecting that would draw Jah's displeasure. The people who conveniently forgot to pay it would have been equally as guilty and not afforded any protection.

It's certainly a possibility but there were other ideas, of course...

Personally I would prefer to urinate all over their graves. This one will be a challenge for me. Added to all the other challenges upcoming, I likely have a snowball's chance in Hell to see everyone in the New System so I am going to really be asking Jehovah and Jesus for some big time mercy myself. Stay tuned! The future is nigh.
Personally, Medi-tator, we harbor similar feelings. Since there's zero indication of remorse, we certainly do not forgive them. Just seeing their face , sad to say, is repulsive. Thus, the comment above because we don't know the eventuality of "individuals" and my current animosity scares me a bit.

2021 was a terrible year for us. We knew we weren't going to take the "jab" but everyone around us was. We had no one except each other and our son and his wife to talk to about what was going on. We kept asking ourselves, "what is wrong with us" and "are there others out there that feel like we do about the GB and their direction"? But there was no way of knowing and the guilt we felt for even entertaining these thoughts was overwhelming. Finally...the forum where we really found so much encouragement among like-minded people knowing they shared our feelings. However, It was a lonely feeling for a year or so.

What a sad situation with a happy outcome. Glad you found the forum to validate your feelings about the GB. I wish more people would wake up, especially my family. I still have 2 daughters that believe the GBs whitewashed wall hogwash. I purchased extra copies of Roberts book for them for when they are ready.

You're right, it's all about timing. Before the GB's stance on vaccines, we were already seeing cracks that didn't set well with us. But we were, by no means ready to accept the truth about the organization as it really is. We finally quit making excuses for it and decided to accept reality.

We felt exactly the same in 2021, then I lost my soulmate of 38 years. Between that and the betrayal of the GB, it was only through Jehovah’s strength and directing me to this forum where I’ve been encouraged by those who share much of the same feelings. We’ve loved and we’ve lost. Lonely feelings can be very hard to deal with.
