Yesterday I lost my Daisy, she was a little English Cockerspaniel and I had her for 11years. She was 16yrs old and lived a long life in dog years. She got sick while I've been away on vacation and they only way to save would be an unaffordable surgery and at her age there's no guarantee she would recover. I didn't even get to say goodbye to her we had to put her down yesterday. I miss her terribly already and I'm beyond sad I'm absolutely heartbroken. It'll really hit me hard when I return home and she's not there. Never did I ever think I loose her like this and feel so awfully heartbroken. She was such a good dog and a great companion animal. I can't stop the tears for her.

I’m really sorry to hear that you’re dealing with the loss of your dog.
Losing a beloved companion can be incredibly painful.
It’s normal to feel a deep sense of loss. Thank you for telling us so we can sympathize, even empathize with you, and hopefully help you through the passage of grief. Jehovah knows your pain. Psalm 56:8

I lost my Yorkie Venus on December 26th, 2020. She wasn't feeling well the night before and died in my arms the next day. My mother and sister sent pictures of Yorkie pups one after another until I finally said, "Look, if Jehovah wants me to have another Yorkie, I want a rescue." The NEXT DAY my mom got a call from my aunt, who didn't know Venus had died, and told her about a Yorkie who needed a home. I said yes, and the next day she was in my arms. She was 4 and her name was Angel. I miss Venus, but Angel filled the hole that she left immediately. I felt no guilt because I know pets are gifts from Jehovah, and Vensus wasn't sitting somewhere feeling jealous.

The bond dogs form with their human companions is truly amazing. We're so sorry. Shiloh, for your loss and the pain you are experiencing.
We lost our little 17 yr. old dachshund, "Troubles", a few years ago. While we still have our moments, the memory of her "antics" and the joy she brought to our lives are the memories we cherish.

I'm so sorry for your loss Shiloh. I also recently lost my dog of 16 years. It's truly heartbreaking. She was the best dog that I ever had. 💔

I'm so sorry, Shiloh. As a dog lover myself, I know losing a pet is like losing a family member. You're in my thoughts and prayers. Sending hugs ()

Nothing like a Dachshund. My Mini Toby is 4. I have had rescue dogs before but never a purebred like Toby. I had no idea how intelligent Dachshunds are. And fiercely protective as well. Well, as protective as a 16-pound mini can be. :)

Don't get us started on Dachshunds. :) We love them and shepherds, too. Troubles was a miniature (11-12 lbs). She went blind when she was about 8 yrs old (very sad, for us) but she adapted quite well. She was special and, as you said, they're very intelligent. You would not believe how many words she had in her "vocabulary". Actually, you probably would believe it since you are well acquainted with dachshunds. We miss her terribly but probably not a good idea for us to get another one as I'm afraid she might never measure up to Troubles and that wouldn't be fair. You're right about them being protective. As little as she was, she would go after anything if she felt I was endangered.
Enjoy your Toby. (Phyllis)

A few weeks ago, I had a contractor out doing some work, and he had his dog with him, Buck. It was a big dog—75 pounds—part pit, part Victorian bulldog. We got talking dogs, and he said a friend of his had the parents of "Buck," and they had another litter. He brought one of the pups over the next day. I was ready to "re-pouch," to quote Barny, but my wife talked me out of it. Although it was a cute pup, she convinced me it would be too much dawg later on for this old man. :(

I have a chihuahua we rescued from the spca 6 years ago. I always thought chihuahuas were ankle biting yackers which never appealed to me, but I took her anyway. This dog is the absolute most previous, sweetest, and most loving dog we've ever had, and so incredibly smart. Nothing will ever replace her. She has a very serious heart problem and I know we won't have her much longer so we are giving her the best life possible.
Here she is carrying a very valuable green bean around. Lol

Snug as a bug in a rug! 😆🥰

I'm so sorry, hun. If you need or want someone to talk to, I'm here for you. I'll send you my number in private message.
Thankyou that's so sweet. Right now I'm visiting family on Long Island, so I'm surrounded by loved ones who are real supportive. But when I go back home I may take you up on it. That's going to be hard being home without her. Thankyou!
