Who rules secret societies?

I thought this was an excellent video about secret societies, but without going down any crazy rabbit holes.

I confess that I didn't read my way through the comments. I don't have to ask. I have no need of asking questions to people who are associated with these groups who seem to have dark histories. I am a sinner but if you will indulge me, God warned me away from these kind. These groups. Even those who try to fool the rest by saying they worship a god. There is an unholy kind of people coming our way. Be aware of them

If we ignored Satan’s crap, we would be blind watchmen.
We are given blind watchmen as a gift but at a price. They divide and make us turn one way or the other. I am no longer blind. I confess that I know the accurate word of our God and I take the full responsibility for that claim. I am not ignorant of God's direction. If you don't see me in the promised land then you will know that i sinned too much against my God.

I think it's okay to educate yourself on various issues, with the added caveat of knowing your limits. For example, I might read a book on secret societies. I might look into what they believe or what they've done. Up to a certain point it's just journalism. But even I will put some limits on what I'm willing to look into or how deep I'm willing to look. I might look into the history of witchcraft but I'm not going to read a book on black magic or take a nap in a dimly lit graveyard by candle light. You just gotta know when to stop. The Salem Witch Trials were terrible, but knowing about that history is remarkably useful for future generations. In other words, know your history; just try not to become part of it, if you know what I mean.

The narrow road is hard to find and to stay on. No point in KNOWING your history ( especially that which is not conducive to staying on narrow road ), when we already have a reliable guide from Jehovah. Still it is fun speculating on how things are playing out at the minute and how they may or may not line up with what the bible says. The bible does not say much about secret societies, but it does mention the father of those liars.

Duh. Just the history that is not worth much. How is knowing the history of secret societies ( just one example ) going to help you stay on the narrow road?. The bible has enough history to help all of us.
Because I'm interested in secret societies. Is that not enough? You love the bible, and I respect that. In all our ways take notice of God. I get, but I don't think that means we need to lock ourselves in a cage. I also like true crime. I like medical dramas, good journalism, lots of music. I enjoy the art of film making. It's a powerful vehicle for storytelling. Another one of my interests happens to be history, the stranger the better.

Also what do you mean by history that isn't worth much? You mean I should only consider the positive points? Jeez, that'll be a short class.

Once upon a time nothing happened. The end.

So true Jahrule…and besides how do we know for sure there weren’t secret societies back then? They could‘ve been referred to as something different.

At Revelation 2: 24 it says:“However, I say to the rest of you who are in Thy·a·tiʹra, all those who do not follow this teaching, those who did not get to know the so-called “deep things of Satan”:”

It may be that “the so called “deep things of Satan“ could be referring to these ones in Thyatira were becoming involved in learning about these things. But I’m just speculating here.

I think it's important to know who runs the world, so that when they come out with a solution we'll be prepared to do the opposite. Sure, we can make the blanket statement that Satan runs the world and that would be correct, but I want to know who his minions are so I can avoid them and their policies. Jesus said the deception will be so great that even the elect will be tempted to follow it... but of course they won't. To me this means the sheep will follow the deception if they follow the wrong elect, and fail to listen to the truly anointed. I don't want to make that mistake, so I'm preparing as best I can by studying all available material. If you think the only knowledge we need comes from the Bible I would say you're correct. I would also say the Bible doesn't tell us to read it and nothing else though. I don't feel that I'm anointed, but who knows if any of us will be called at the last hour... so I'm hoping to be part of the GC, but preparing to serve in Heaven if called.

If we're being real, just being a secret society doesn't necessarily mean evil. I could start a secret society right now based around loving and preserving cheese. Granted, it could cross a line somewhere, but it doesn't have to.

That’s very true. But because particular societies are referred to as secret may make people think that something dark may be going on.

Obviously, certain influential men within the Watchtower are in a secret society. It is like the cult of Baal, which Jesus alluded to when speaking to the seven congregations in Revelation, referring to the influence of Jezebel and Balaam among anointed Christians.

I have considered that there are others here among us who may have that calling. It would make perfect sense for at least some of them to end up here. Can you even imagine what a huge honor it would be to rule alongside Christ? Wow. I certainly can't. Just the job security alone would be phenomenal. True, you have to give up a lot. But you gain a lot more than you lose.

Nevertheless, that ain't happening to me, even though I'd totally accept that destiny in a heartbeat. I know that ain't me, despite finding the prospect particularly awesome. I'd probably be the last person Jah would have ruling with Jesus. I'm not all that great, honestly. I'm kind of lazy. I can be irresponsible. I'm a jerk sometimes. I have little patience for other humans. I drink. I smoke. I ask a lot of stupid questions. 100% Jah ain't choosing me for any kind of leadership role. But I'm willing to bet there are more than one of you out there who is or will be.
