Beards allowed for all brothers

An older sister told me that it was because of the hippies that they started the no beard thing. As I began to find photos of older JWs I quickly realized that it went a lot farther back than that. Unless anyone can prove otherwise I would guess it goes back to Rutherford.
It was World War One. When soldiers came back from service, they had short hair and were clean-shaven. WW2 and the Korean War reinforced this severe look even more. The hippy thing was a rebellion against the military establishment foremost.

This is quite hilarious, these pour sisters don't realize it, but they trying to explain how the gas lighting we have all endured wasn't actually gas lighting. The one sister admits the beard restriction is not in the Bible, but then says, "If Jehovah tells us to do it we do it." Except she just admitted Jehovah didn't say that in the Bible! Just once again demonstrates that they think the GB is Jehovah!

I could only get through about a quarter of that. They are so thoroughly brainwashed they can't think critically at all. Their idol has a lot of pain in store for them. Poor sisters indeed!

I heard a talk once at a DC or CA where the speaker said the beard thing was, at least, partly because "statistics" showed that people didn't put trust in people with beards. It may have been a local thing but it what the craziest **** I'd heard up till them. I tried to argue it a bit with the Bro who was studying with me but he simply swept it under the rug.

And so it goes...120 years of lots of sweeping under lots of rugs. :)

Breaks my heart to see beautiful people so indoctrinated they no longer have the power to reason on scripture, just trying to justify what they believe is "Gods organisation". I really hope and pray these wonderful sisters will survive the destruction of the WT and be apart of the great crowd.

Very sad that they cannot even explain clearly why they followed the custom of not having beards.
If I may Susan, politely correct the point of “custom“ to “obligation”, not to wear a beard!? A custom forms an agreed principle, but the watchtower preferred to impose a direction - a completely different action and most reprehensible! As to the ladies in question, they are both deaf and blind. Though the video did not reveal the ladies in question, I’m sure they both now sported the most luxurious of beards following Brother Winders correction of Jehovah’s unclear direction.

If someone can post a video of a Witness having a reasonable conversation i will change my opinion, otherwise this video is just another example of the mental illness that as always existed

I don’t think the malaise can be called mental illness, but it’s true to say that It can certainly contribute to the onset of mental illness - the gas-lighting aspect and other contradictions in terms. It would be difficult to assume that Winder’s blasphemy of blaming Jehovah for the watchtower ills is without its contribution - one can imagine the impact his words had upon faithful followers, especially older members. For younger ones or those new in the truth, it would have simply negated the very foundation of faith - Jehovah makes mistakes and allows His people to be misled? What on earth is the point in sacrificing a life time of dedication to such a God.

Oh Melinda how did we ever follow thier stupid rules? Was it because we were so grateful for the truth about Jah and Christ's relationship and the hope scriptures held out for giving us a resurrection from this futile system? Are we called here and informed so much because of when being introduced to our Holy Father and His Son we clung to them rather than the gb?

Let’s face it Mick, if we would have been allowed to grow beards, we would have been expected to reject cars and drive around in a buggy and horses, raising barns and beards like the Amish.

You make that sound like a bad thing.
The Amish communities do have their issues though. Like the evangelicals/Catholics, there are similar issues to the Org.

The changes that have occurred post 2020 are just incredible. Mind blowing how spineless so many brothers and sisters are.

I had my suspicions things were really starting to go off track way before that, but its just painful to watch unfold.
