He's an orthopedic surgeon so I don't know. Maybe they don't have to use blood in most of those surgeries. I had never thought about it but that's a good question.
I only ask because my niece dropped out of watchtower some years ago and worked as a paramedic driving ambulances and attending emergencies. I wondered how she squared her conscience with the various life and death issues and needs that she meets on a day to day basis. She was condemned by the watchtower for leaving her husband, shunned and forbidden to marry again and to live as a hermit. When you have to endure that much, I suppose the issues in saving someone’s life tend to be clarified somewhat.

And it gets worse 🙈 someone on Twitter was digging into the food box program and it’s very possible WT was paid big $$ to distribute the Lords produce 🥔🥕🧅
Not only did they take credit for the free food they probably profited from the whole thing! You can’t out WT the WT “show me the money!” 🤑

Years ago I posted an article entitled The Watchtower Sinks to New All-Time Low having to do with their response to a child abuse lawsuit. Anyway, I could write an article every few months with that same title. They just keep sinking deeper and deeper and deeper into hypocrisy.

I love your recountings. They are always so fascinating.
It was told to us that this was a loving provision from Jehovah and we could not refuse the boxes.
So now Jehovah is like a mob boss? "He's gonna make him an offer he canna refuse."

And that masking in the hall nonsense; BS to show his submission while under them. How the world can't see this now is beyond me. I'm staying at a hotel now and 2 of the front desk people are still wearing masks. They're so used to their slavery. It's sad really. They don't want to anger Pharaoh. :)
One week our box contained a very official government letter informing us that this food was provided as cvd relief program from the government through charitable organizations and signed by Donald Trump! We had been told the branch was providing this food “at great expense“! Apparently these boxes all had that same letter every week but the brothers had been removing them before the distribution points so we would all think it was the org being generous and caring for us and they missed our box letter that week.
 That is hilarious! It's like right out of a movie. A comedy movie...that the WBTS has become. Just shows how involved their Mason selves are with the Beast too.
I can see where this is going. The WT is all about presenting itself as the Mother of God's children. And she's always going to be there for you. Wipe your nose, put a bandaid on your knee when you get skinned up, all that. Even forcing you to take charity when you don't need it. Call it over-mothering if you like. But I see it is all part of the conditioning. We know Mother has already planted the idea that she will issue life-saving instructions when the day of Jehovah begins. Problem is, she won't be there. (See Hosea 4:5)
I can see that this will cause a lot of stress to the Brothers that have worshiped the WBTS as an idol, instead of the True God. They will be hungry and cold and their god will be no more. Will they turn to Jehovah at that time or give up on him? I guarantee that any food they receive at that time won't have anything to do with Trump or any other Gov agency. It will be directly from the hand of Jah if they realize their error.

With all this disaster relief discussion I remembered the Cvd food boxes 📦 the congregations delivered in 2020. It was a very strange situation, not sure how many congregations participated in the program. My husband was part of the elders assigned to help deliver the boxes. But to take a step back he is over 55 so the elder body agreed the direction from the GB on protecting the “elderly” meant he couldn’t directly do the deliveries but could go along to assist. 🙄 He was also the literature servant during that time so to distribute the literature he spent the two years going to the hall, alone, to pick up the literature and then go meet a younger brother somewhere to give him the literature in person and then the younger brother would take the literature to each home of the friends. To add to the nonsense my husband was required to wear a mask and gloves while he was in the hall ALONE! There were brothers that would watch him on the security cameras while he was in there to make sure he kept his mask on the whole time! That was the only time in the entire cvd mess that he ever put a mask on - in the hall. 🙄 Knowing what we know now that will never happen again and he said he felt like an idiot doing it.

Anyway in Spring 2020 the elders were notified our congregation would be receiving food boxes from “the branch” and that we were not to discuss the boxes among ourselves (weird) and especially not with anyone in the other congregations cause we didn’t know how many got the boxes. It was told to us that this was a loving provision from Jehovah and we could not refuse the boxes. Keep in mind we live in a very affluant area in CA, the friends here don’t need food donations. They literally all shop at WholeFoods and eat out in restaurants most of the time. Anyway we all were obedient as usual an accepted the boxes. The boxes were generally the same things each week, 10lb bag of potatoes, 5lb bag of apples, carrots, onions, and some other vegetables. It’s just the two of us in our home and that’s A LOT of potatoes to go through every week! We didn’t want to waste anything because it was a “gift from Jehovah“ so we did our best to make potato salad, potato soup, baked potatoes, nonstop potatoes 🥔😆!

These deliveries went on for several months with a lot of volunteers involved in moving these truckloads of boxes and delivering them to each home. The delivery process involved the volunteers including my husband meeting each Friday morning at a warehouse to receive our congregations boxes. They would all stand around unmasked, visiting in the parking lot until the delivery truck arrived from the food distribution company. Once the truck arrived all the volunteers had to mask up, put on gloves, protective goggles, and high visibility vests - I kid you not! To deliver a box of potatoes in rich neighborhoods our friends looked like paranoid morons! My husbands assignment was to follow behind in our car (too old remember) as the car groups made the deliveries. When they got to our home they would get out of the car, all geared up, and set the box on our porch. I would always go out to talk with them and once it was my own assistant making our delivery. I literally worked with her in person daily without any mask during the whole time but to be “obedient” she wore all the things and even said she felt like a fool doing it. An hour she was back working in my home without any “protective gear”! What a silly game!

I wish I had saved that letter but I tossed it. Shortly after that I was talking with one of the sisters that works with us in SoCal. Her husband worked for one of these large food distributors and was working with the branch on the food box program. He confirmed that the branch was REQUIRED to participate in the box program as part of their charitable tax program! Once again another donation that the org took credit for. Free volunteers delivering free food. One week about mid summer we were informed the food boxes would be ending as the branch determined there was no longer a need for them. Actually the brother said the program had just ended their contract with the government. Anyway that was our experience, did you have this food box program in your area?
Hi @Citrine! This post really stirred my interest in joining this forum. I'll explain in a minute, but first, would like to say, a bit late, that I too stumbled upon this forum and find it an outlet to share thoughts, concerns, questions and understanding that, for the most part, are not acceptable by the jw majority. Keeping an open-mind, being objective and reasoning through things with sound arguments based on facts/evidence-based/logical information seems to have gone by the way-side. Also, I have not joined to badger or be highly-critical of the GB, the org, jw's, etc., my focus is to share info and find answers to my concerns & questions... questions not normally asked by JW members. Appreciate everyone's feedback.

Okay, on to this post... there are a few additional details regarding the food provisions would like to share being that this was an assignment I handled for the ~2 yr period.

Yes, this wasn't announced or mentioned as a provision from the organization, the GB, the branch, etc., in our case. We simply created a list of pubs that would likely have a greater need for these provisions and rotated through the list for each shipment that arrived. We did not say it came from the branch, but yet, that it was a government program that provided this benefit. I personally made many deliveries and never asked any bro/sister to not mention it to others. However, can understand that since only a limited amount of boxes were received per shipment, by asking others not to share their having received one, would lessen some from thinking there was nepotism involved in the distribution. All in all, being a small cong, eventually everyone (in need or not) received at least 1 box and were appreciative.

The mask and gloves requirement was ridiculous. Not only was it required, it was required to have them on while in your car, with the windows up, the entire time you were waiting to receive the boxes with provisions. Oh, and you couldn't leave the vehicle. Others would open the trunk of your car and place the boxes for you. The wait typically lasted between 30-60 minutes. Although not in agreement with the requirements, I did follow it reluctantly. Oh and there was the requirement of wearing a mask when you delivered the box(es) too. Nonetheless, many did not really care so much if you had a mask on or not (in my case).

All in all, perhaps being in a smaller cong with a larger diversity of people resulted in this being a more positive experience. In some conversations while making a delivery, chatted about the v@x, but no one was difficult and those I spoke with were more against than for it, even after multiple GB updates. Of course, keep in mind that my interaction was only with a very small group, maybe less than 10, as I did delegate the distribution to others to help out.

Lastly, perhaps Robert has a point regarding the WT wanting to be the "Mother of God's children", being that providing food provisions to those in need creates a certain dependency and expectancy. Nonetheless, not trying to be super-critical, but yet, sharing actual facts based on real experiences, especially those of which I personally led, was assigned or a part of.

I always wondered why the GB started buying FL real estate. Now I just figure corporations do what corporations do - follow the $$

Do any of the local Brothers in the trades ever become any wiser? Contributing there time and tools to help the org flip properties. I bet there would be some, in their local congregation, that could use some free help around there homes.

Some charity is better than no charity and I suppose we should be grateful, but honestly, pounds of potatoes!? Even the Nazis fed potatoes to their enemies and those it sought to kill. Where is the credit in that? I am aware that in America, supermarkets give away food near expiry date, no matter be it steak, salmon or anything else to those in need. Here in Britain, for some reason that is “not allowed” since we became obsessed with litigation for everything. Before then we used to have soup kitchens and still do for the homeless. The fact of the matter though, that we all contributed to watchtower in one way or another, and they have taken that money and abused its use and have the gall to claim that they are giving food to people that has been supplied by others. If it has accumulated all the billions that it is said to have now, then that is just plain wrong. A charity such as this should seek to break even on modest discharge of its remit and anything in excess of that, should be ploughed back into the execution of its charter, and/or used to help others within It’s remit. Instead, we see them all living in a marble palace, “refreshed by their lakeside environment”, dressed in fine clothing, gold on their fingers and wrists, expensive motorcars, health insurance etc etc. - even retirement care. They do not appear even to give out of their surplus, and blimey, do they have some surplus!

According to the recent, slightly swollen faced, Bro Lett, the idea that the GB members are living in luxury is all “apostate driven lies” or something to that effect.
I guess it depends on your definition of luxury.

Reminds me of Amos 5:11-13
11They’re the ones who strike the poor with their fists, And steal their choicest of treasures.‘Yes, I can see the paneled houses you’ve built…

12 For I know all the [bad] things you’re doing And of how you’ve trampled the righteous…How you’ve inflated your prices, And turned the needy away from your gates.

13For during that time, I silently watched As [you were becoming] more evil.’
(2001translation)

Didn’t Bro Morris say in one of his talks something like “ even if you are poor you are expected to donate “

I wonder what some of the Brothers living in the poorer parts of the world really think about the broadcasts.

Appreciate your experience @mts and yes it does seem that the food box handling and information varied somewhat in different areas. I understand your not wanting to be critical of the GB or the org. I realize I am now probably one of the sharpest critics of them on here and that likely makes some uncomfortable. This comes from my firsthand observation of the friends that are now injured or have even died from their vx pushing. This was intentional and they are still getting away with it. That being said I look forward to exploring answers to all our questions and realizing we don’t have it all figured out with only info from WT.

Also in CA, I heard about the boxes but I never saw one. It is funny here with trying to help people because they have everything you can't even mow the lawn for an elderly person cause they have weekly gardeners.
But potatoes though, delicious !

Jehovah is like a ton of bricks, but more. I wish I could explain our God. I can't and that especially is one of our reasonings as to why he is GOD to us. Without the help of the detractors, I need no help to make me wish that I were atheist. It would make life easy, wouldn't it? My God holds my ability

My thinking was that if they can afford to line their new home in marble, then their living quarters would not be the type of cell given to the workers. I understand one of the GB has a grand piano in theirs! Poverty is relative in many cases. They do not need to live at a headquarters. They do not need to be full-time employed there. People run newspaper works and live at their own home and even a head of state can live at his own apartment and run the country like Trump did. Of course, Christ owned the clothes he stood up in and nothing else - the very height of luxury, so the GB of course, in imitation of him, do the same - but in marbled lake-side apartments. What was convenient for those to whom it was given to form a people for Jehovah’s name was clearly to save money and support each other in a community, yet with growth in numbers and donations, shift work and part time contributions of labour would solve the problem of having to live on site. Was there ever a need for printing? No. The obligation was to share the word by going house to house, and if no one was in, to call again. What was needed, was a place to meet and worship. We had those in abundance supplied by our own work and Labour, but they stole that from us and sold them so that they could live in their mansion and tour the world in luxury. Christ walked, and on one occasion, had the audacity to borrow a donkey for his last journey.

That is very true of watchtower culture in that they assumed governance over what is said. I used to teach students in my profession and it was a critical to their learning that they argued the point. I was once given a student from India to teach, but in their culture, they feel that questioning the teacher is not only wrong, but disrespectful. So I told the university that I would not take him. Students often teach their teacher and provide growth in learning with the development of perspectives and experiences. To claim to be always correct is say one has stopped learning.

Hi MTS

Although they didn't say that the care packages were from Jehovah, did they imply it?

Like with the thousands of refugees that fled Ukraine. If you read the WT's news articles about the few JW's who escaped, it would seem that the GB were responsible for saving their lives. But what about the thousands of non-JW's? Who was responsible for saving their lives? It seems too similar to "stolen valor" to me.

Thanks for sharing your experience MTS.

:)
