Keep following Jehovah's guidance (Study article for May 5)

This has me wondering about the scripture in regards to those taking the lead. While Jesus did say to obey the Pharisees in word & not in deed, how with this verse apply? Is it in regards to the time of the end or something else?

Verse in question:
This is what my son was saying today, he knows I'm not "happy" with the GB at the moment but he says we still need to respect and obey them 😬

So UNTIL Christ returns.....how do we handle Jehovah's Earthly Organization? I am sickened by the idol worship and cannot preach falsehoods to my neighbors anymore. The elders will take notice when I am not at the KH anymore and not 'checking the box' on the FS report. I admire @J&P 's letter and am hoping to do the same...but in the meantime, my husband will not read anything that doesn't come from the WT org. Also, he has slacked off in his responsibility of keeping his 'household' (ME) spiritually fed. I feel like I'm between the proverbial 'Rock and a Hard Place'. I'm thinking things are speeding up quickly now....should I just see how long I can 'fly under the radar'....until Jesus return and then 'not come down to collect the WT bound volumes'? I really don't know what I should do and it is making me a nervous wreck. 😩
Just concentrate on your relationship with Jehovah, that's what I'm doing. Stick close to him and he will stick close to you. The great thing about Jehovah is that even if we're doing something wrong without realising, you know, in ignorance, he still loves and cares for us. So even if we were all totally wrong about the GB he totally understands why we feel the way we do and will help us anyway. All the time we are honest, humble and even naïve, Jehovah has our backs, his justice means he can't NOT help us or be with us. That's what I've learned over the years anyway 😍

"Can you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely and make sacrifices to Baal then come in and stand before me in this house that bears my Name and say 'we will be saved'? This house that bears my Name has become a cave of robbers: However go now to my place in Shiloh where I first caused my name to reside and see what I did to it because of the badness of my people Israel. But you keep doing all these things even though I spoke to you again and again, I kept calling but you did not listen. So I will do to the house that bears my Name in which you are trusting. I will throw you out of my sight. Jer7:9-15
It's understandable really a busy family with bills to pay likely goes to the weekly supermarket to shop; one does the meetings to stock up on spiritual needs. Only the Bethel supermarket doctors the scriptures to fulfill their agenda. Not only that it cuts out the personal connection with God's word after all if we wish to be happy and grow into big trees then as Psalms1:1-3 "Happy is the man who does not walk according to the advice of the wicked (Bethel). His delight is in the law of Jehovah he reads His law in an undertone day and night. He will be like a tree planted by the water, a tree that produces fruit in it's season and everything he does will succeed!"

That's interesting.. my son came round after the meeting today and asked me what I thought of the Watchtower today. He's worried about me. He was absolutely taken in by today's Watchtower. I need to research Uriah the Hittite. Can you recommend anyone else for me to research please?
Could you please tell me where in the article they mention Uriah the Hittite?

I don't believe he is mentioned in the article. Uriah was Bathsheba's husband whom King David told to go home to see his wife, but Uriah disobeyed David because none of the other soldiers went home to their wives. David was attempting to cover over his adultery with Bathsheba. So, Uriah disobeyed the anointed of Jehovah by not doing as David told him.

Verse in question:
I would think that we must be discerning as to exactly what they are taking the lead in doing. If it is to lead people to idolize the GB, then that would be the wrong lead. That is why we have the bible to keep on track. The GB has clearly put themselves in the seat of Moses and they encourage blind obedience even if they are wrong. How that makes sense I don’t know but it definitely contradicts the bible itself.

Job 6:15-20: “My own brothers have been as treacherous as a winter stream, Like the water of winter streams that dry up. They are darkened by ice, And in them the melting snow is hidden. But in due season they become waterless and come to an end; When it becomes hot, they dry up. Their course is diverted; They flow into the desert and vanish. The caravans of Teʹma look for them; The travelers from Sheʹba wait for them. They are ashamed because of their misplaced trust; They come there only to be disappointed.”

Psalm 5:9-11: “For nothing they say can be trusted; Within them is nothing but malice; Their throat is an open grave; They flatter with their tongue. But God will declare them guilty; Their own schemes will cause their downfall. May they be driven away because of their many transgressions, For they have rebelled against you. But all those who take refuge in you will rejoice; They will always shout joyfully. You will block approach to them, And those loving your name will rejoice in you.”

Psalm 9:9-10: “ Jehovah will become a secure refuge for the oppressed, A secure refuge in times of distress. Those knowing your name will trust in you; You will never abandon those seeking you, O Jehovah.”

Psalm 118:8-9: “It is better to take refuge in Jehovah Than to trust in humans. It is better to take refuge in Jehovah Than to trust in princes.”

Psalm 119:41-45: “May I experience your loyal love, O Jehovah, Your salvation in harmony with your promise; Then I will reply to the one taunting me, For I put my trust in your word. Do not utterly remove the word of truth from my mouth, For I have hoped in your judgment. I will keep your law constantly, Forever and ever. And I will walk about in a place of safety, For I search for your orders.”

Jeremiah 9:4-6: “Everyone, be on guard against your neighbor, And do not trust even your brother. For every brother is a betrayer, And every neighbor is a slanderer. Each one cheats his neighbor, And no one speaks truth. They have taught their tongue to speak falsehood. They wear themselves out doing what is wrong. You are living in the midst of deception. In their deception they refused to know me,” declares Jehovah.”

Ok, I knew about that but wasn’t sure if I missed something in the article albeit was hard to get through. Thank you for clearing that up for me.

All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work. —2 Timothy 3:16,17

All of the scriptures are clearly “inspired of God” to “SET MATTERS STRAIGHT.” The scriptures are clear about the direction we receive. It never refers to being obedient to men. Only if they’re following direction from God’s word. We can read, we can understand. Jesus teaches us what Jehovah taught him precisely.

The Bible puts so much emphasis on the scriptures and holy writings. Where is it said that a man or men can speak for God? Only one man who came to the earth more than 2,000 years ago, Jesus Christ, has explained them.

So is it wrong for us to say that, at least NOW, compared to previous years, the WT is putting out deceptive study articles, such as the one that was studied today? It had a PICTURE of the 9 men on the GB, right under a picture of Jehovah's prophets and kings and also of the apostles. I do not see how they can claim they were 'appointed' by Jehovah. How do we cope with hearing these outright lies? Serious question. How do we cope?
notice how there's also 9 apostles above the GB 9

It's going to be much more difficult for those of us who are aware than those of us who are not. This is true at least as far as our immediate direction. You must recognize that Jah has a multi faceted plan. He likely wants people from multiple backgrounds in order to serve his purpose from different perspectives. Some people may need to be on the inside, and others may need to be on the outside. To those on the inside, they are unaware of the shortcomings of the organization, but their presence within may still serve a purpose. To those on the outside, they are aware but are unsure of their place. Nevertheless, this misplaced perspective may yet serve a role. Don't forget Jah is the one in control. Just because we may not know what our mission is currently doesn't mean Jah has no direction for us in the future. Otherwise we'd all be just as clueless as the the rest of his sheep. Be ready, because I am convinced each and every one of you have a role to play in the chapters ahead, Jah knows what he is doing. Despite our shortcomings, he is preparing us for a role in his future plans.

Thankyou for posting this, I really needed to hear this sort of encouragement today as I've been feeling un-useful knowing all I know right now.

You are far from alone. This world sucks. It's degrading. It's discouraging. But don't lose heart. I am discouraged on a daily basis. I work hard, but it's a never ending ordeal. They clown me at work. Ask me if I ever had a girlfriend or if I'm a virgin. It's only because I am unusual. In a way, we're all unusual. If anything take pride in being different. Not that we're perfect. I fall short. We all fall short, But Jah is nevertheless the most important thing in our life. Keep hold of that flame. It's what holds us apart from the this world. If I can keep my spiritual side on at the railroad any of you can., Never lose your faith. Just know we are all struggling every single day. You are so much stronger than you think you are.

I felt you were writing this directly to me. The inside/outside thing has been a dilemma for me so far. Thank you for these balanced words. You’re right, “ Jehovah knows what he is doing-despite our shortcomings”!

You and me both Sister!

It seems WT and the GB just cannot help themselves, it seems to me they constantly stick their foot in their mouths. And like Jesus said, "let those who have an ear hear." Their own articles condemn them for who they really are, and I'll say it once again, I think it is Jehovah forcing them to do it. Right at the beginning of the article in paragraph 6, the "read" scripture the glaring difference is Jehovah provided undeniable proof that Moses had been chosen by Jehovah, and like @Ms_ladyblue said, "where's WT's pillar of smoke"? But what I find so telling is this scripture right in that 6th paragraph....

Exodus 14:11, Then Jehovah said to Moses: “How much longer will this people treat me without respect,+ and how much longer will they not put faith in me in spite of all the signs that I performed among them..." The reason they were condemned was NOT because Moses had TOLD them Jehovah had chosen him it was because as Jehovah said here in this verse, "they will not put their faith in me in spite of all the signs that I performed among them"

Jehovah condemned them, because even with all the miracles and great signs Jehovah had performed in their behalf, they still were unfaithful. The GB just reveal once again their unmitigated arrogance, and self importance!

But the GB are the "Faithful and Discreet Slave" appointed by Christ and Jehovah... just ask them!

What I noticed in paragraph 14 is: 'Anointed elders are in Christ's "right hand".' (Rev 2:1) Didn't we used to believe that this applied to ALL elders? And yet Rev 1:20 says "The seven stars mean the ANGELS of the seven congregations...", not elders. Go figure.

Another example, but he didn't follow through, is Joab who told David counting the people in the census was a wicked, stupid idea. He still did it but was truthful to David. 2 Samuel 24, 1 Chron 21

It's kind of like us in this forum always talking about the mistakes the WBTS is making BUT we don't directly interfere with them.

The rest of the anointed outside of the GB appear to be the scraps of the remnant and not very useful apparently. As the saying goes, what are they, chopped liver?
