When all this Covid garbage started and then I ended up here, I tended to think the same thing. And then I saw Tony Morris in a part claim he told his sons, and from the way he tells it, it sounded like this was in the 70's possibly before 1975, he claims he told his sons this system could last until 2020. The audience laughs and then he says, "I'm not joking." or "I'm serious", something like that. Then he goes on and explains how he laid it all out for his sons that this system could drag on another 45 years...lol. That "is a bald faced lie" to quote plastic face Lett. You know how I know it was a lie. As late as 1984 they were still claiming the 1914 "generation would by no means pass away." I was still in school when we were placing that WT magazine with all the very old peole that were by no means not going to die before Armageddon. Who are in fact dead, and very dead at that, like 30 years dead. What he claims would have gotten him DF'd if he'd told anyone this drivel as "an apostate creating divisions." In fact, if he was anyone else, saying that garbage from the platform would have gotten him some serious back room talking to by any elder/elders paying attention. He would have to had to believe they were wrong about their understanding of the "generation" decades before they officially "adjusted" their understanding and changed it to an "over lapping generation."


So I am now convinced they are and do lie, and it's not just about "omissions"

Thanks Nomex for sharing your thoughts and conclusions. Based on webster.com's definition of "lying", being "marked by or containing untrue statements", your deductions have basis, Although I don't recall the 1975 claims he told his sons, my father has shared info about 1975 having been controversial because it was thought it was a marker of end times (summarizing). I do remember the generation understanding and update to it:confused:. So, if we consider lying to be, telling untrue statements, yes, you're right, but the GB and their associates are excellent in using semantics to finagle the wording to not be accountable for outright lying. I guess that's my point.

Sorry I have to chime in. By their own standard, lies of omission are still deceit. They teach that too, as per the video below. Because of their positions they owe Jehovah and his sheep the complete unvarnished truth. God’s people are supposed to be a “pillar and support of the truth”. That is the responsibility of carrying his name. Notice that this scripture talks about putting away deceit, which would include more than lying.

Ephesians 4:25: “Therefore, now that you have put away deceit, each one of you speak truth with his neighbor, because we are members belonging to one another.“

Romans 1:18: “For God’s wrath is being revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who are suppressing the truth in an unrighteous way,“

 
This issue of what truth really is, as well as how all forms of deceit are lying is something I feel strongly about. I thought that Jehovah’s people valued “truth” so much that they actually call being one of Jehovah’s Witnesses as being in THE truth. And, we teach that one way we know the bible is inspired of God is that it is so candid as to reveal unflattering accounts of Jehovah’s people because it is true and Jehovah cannot lie. While I do agree that sometimes and in certain circumstances we should hold back information from those who are not entitled to it. And, yet I do think the GB misrepresented a lot of information regarding the vaccines and they should admit what they did by coercing and mandating the vaccines instead of trying to sweep it under the rug and pretend it was only a conscience matter.

i agrée with your factors completely- there are always reasons that one excuses one for, let’s say, bending the truth, but what this elder did was lie in order to cover for the gb setting a bad example for the raf. thusly. but then Watchtower knows all about twisting the truth.

sometimes they’re told directly what/what not to do, more often it’s JW culture leading them in this way or that - to wit: they must conform to unity at any and all cost, even their own lives. It’s tragic beyond comprehension and the blame for it all falls completely at the feet of the gov body.

Early on with the video updates the GB sent letters to the congregations that Elders were not to talk negatively about the vaccine. I forget how they worded but they did send that letter. I don’t recall where a copy of it is but I’ll look to see if I kept it.

A very famous musician once said "You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows." Since my baptism, I have lost track of the "New Light". In addition to apologizing to Jehovah, I have always expected an apology to the congregations for even needing to change anything in our understanding. Now matter how bright and cheery a person might try to paint it, they were wrong before the new light and realized they had to change it.
Not once did they ever humble themselves before the friends and admit a mistake, and it's been a few since 1914. If they are not guilty of lying with regard to the covid jab then they are at least intentionally playing ignorant and staying uninformed.
Since when does Watchtower prefer to be uninformed regarding anything major?
A lie is a lie and it only took one to make us die.

sorry i missed this comment! that is one of my little pugs, i am experimenting with filters- I thought this one was bright and colorful. i’ll post a picture of both my pugs in the Experiences sub forum.

i usually mostly kept track of @Citrine posts every few weeks because i am intimately interested in what is going on inside the brotherhood with regard to the shots, since i am out and well clear of the sinking “Titanic”.

WT lies and is tight lipped about the reality coming out of Bethel, aren’t they!

it’s just awful, isn’t it.

Theocratic warfare. Of course that concept came from them so take if for what it's worth. To add to the part of your answer I bolded, I believe their idea of theocratic warfare includes lying to those who are enemies of God.
