I worked for a brother a short time. He was a great guy but he had a few ideas that made me realize that we all have different ideas of paradise. In his mind, during the thousand years we would "work harder than we ever have before". All day and into the night just grinding away and working to build houses for the resurrected and growing food and teaching. We'll be so busy we won't have time for anything else.
I just smiled and said, yeah that sounds like a real blast. He also said there would be no flatulence in the new system because that only came about due to sin. I had always thought that flatulence was invented to keep us humble.

The comedian Denis Leary had a routine about today's people who just aren't happy. He commented that it seemed like people were expecting life to be one giant never ending life of pleasure. He said it isn't like that at all. I won't repeat his routine here because it's not fitting but his sentiment made sense. Life is working and accomplishing things with little bursts of joy mixed in. Maybe one day it's something you've seen thousands of times but today, seeing it is more gratifying than usual.
Basically he was saying, it's the small things that can bring us joy in small amounts as opposed to one long never ending party.

Haha! That flatulence part made me ROFL 🤣 I think most of it is due to eating meat is it not? Therefore how much we flatulise in the new world will depend on how much meat we're eating/not eating 🤔😁 oh actually, I've just remembered about baked beans, ignore my previous thought 😅 People really do have some strange ideas don't they? Working really hard into the night?? So no different to Satan's system NOW then??!! Thanks, but no thanks 👍 A sister told me many years ago that she believes that we're still going to have "class" systems 🤭 that made me ROFL too. The young ones today seem to be convinced that we're still going to have all the technology we have at the moment, gyms on every street corner etc etc. Not on MY street corner anyway 🤗

An elder showed me Psalm 45:16. He explained to me that the elders would be the princes of that scripture. To be sure, the scripture is there for a reason but I think far too many JW got a notion that Jehovah's kingdom would resemble mankind's systems. A prince would need servants so he can focus on his princely duties. At some point, maybe a few thousand years into paradise I would think we just got back to basics of growing food, making what we need and trading as needed. It's not like we need skyscrapers and Walmarts. Commercial industry would be a concept forgotten but there would be what we need.
Electronics? I won't say not at all but what would we need them for? TV and Radio would be pointless. Is there really anything on TV we can't live without? Instead of radio I would think you just go see a live show or maybe those so inclined get together for a jam session at the latest picnic. A gym would be unneeded because we would be doing real work that would keep us in shape. After 40,000 years I could see someone getting tired of going to the gym.
If you have eternity to live, some things just don't matter any more.

Exactly!! I tried to explain to my son just why we won't need to go to the gym but he just couldn't get it 🤗 maybe digging the garden doesn't quite work your "abs" as well as pushing weights do 😅 He's a gym owners dream, he really is. The elders have been round to counsel him a few times in the past about how his muscles bust out of his clothes and he was "offending" a few brothers and sisters. He said "mum, what a cheek, there's no way I would tell THEM how they were offending ME with their beer bellies and fat busting through their clothes 😬 Anyway, they gave up counselling him and made him a ministerial servant a few months ago! Trouble is, he didn't "qualify" really as he travels far too much, and so they've set a precedent now 🤭 what a farce it all really is 🙄

Any brother who is offended by muscles needs to be counseled. Any sister that says she's offended is just lying. I don't know any sister who would prefer a pasty noodle arm welp. Hope I didn't offend anyone with that but it's true. I used to lift on a routine and right out of school I had entertained the idea of bodybuilding competition. About as much chance of that as being a world champion boxer. It only took a few years to change that. Life set in and priorities changed.
It is sad that the elders thought it was any of their business to comment on someone's exercise routine or body shape. The beard change is a sign of desperation. They don't give up control of anything willingly.
If your son wants to lift weights and exercise I'm sure nobody will stop him nor care.

You know, all of this reminds me of the Twilight Zone episode "On Thursday we leave for home". A story about a colony on another planet that isn't working out and a ship comes to take them back to Earth. Their leader has kept them alive with stories about Earth but when the ship arrives he realizes that he doesn't want to give up being the leader of the group.

I know 🙄 maybe the elders made the story up really and it was themselves who didn't like seeing his muscles bursting through 😅 Anyway, he'd never let anyone stop him working out and he's not yet ready to wear "old man suits" yet 🤭 I don't really get the Twilight Zone example 🤔 When they made him a MS last November he'd already been away 8 times during the year, and he was away when they announced he was a MS. Since then he's been away 3 more times and is off next week for 5 weeks travelling around Mongolia, Tajikistan and a few more "stans" while he's over that way. So yes, so much is about "desperation" these days..
