Unify my heart to fear your name.—Ps. 86:11.
A sports team that is united is more likely to have success than one that is not. Your heart can be like that successful team if your thoughts, desires, and emotions are united in serving Jehovah. Remember, Satan would love to divide your heart. He wants your thoughts, desires, and emotions to be at odds and in conflict with Jehovah’s standards. You, however, need your heart to be whole in order for you to serve Jehovah. (Matt. 22:36-38) Never let Satan divide your heart! Pray to Jehovah as did David: “Unify my heart to fear your name.” Make it your aim to live up to that prayer. Each day, be determined that your decisions, from small to great, show that you hold Jehovah’s holy name in profound awe. In so doing, as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses, you will reflect well on that name. (Prov. 27:11) And all of us will be able to say, along with the prophet Micah: “We will walk in the name of Jehovah our God forever and ever.”—Mic. 4:5. w20.06 13 ¶17-18

Their Heart Has Become Hypocritical 1

July 2nd, 2012

Since the rebellion in Eden God’s purpose has been to produce a seed. Because of his faith Abraham was chosen as the one through whom the seed would eventually come. Abraham’s grandson, Jacob, whose name God changed to Israel, had twelve sons that produced the twelve tribes of Israel. For that reason in later centuries God referred to the nation as “Jacob” and more commonly “Israel.”
Eventually, Judah produced the Christ and after that others were anointed to become part of the seed along with Jesus. Because they are to be the actual seed of blessing God promised would come through Abraham, the Christian seed is the real Israel of God. Paul explained these things in his letter to the Galatians.
At any rate, the Christian Israel of God became corrupt too, just like Israel had before it – even as the founding apostles foretold would occur. But before the conclusion of the system a new generation of anointed persons would appear in the world, thus constituting the Israel of God in modern times. Since its inception the Watchtower Society has been the seedbed for anointed Christians (and consequently the weed patch as well) first called the International Bible Students and since 1931, Jehovah’s Witnesses; making Bethel a sort of capital city for the spiritual nation that has formed.
With the above basic truth in mind now consider the prophecy of Hosea and how the prophecy makes no distinction between the original Israel and the one that would exist at the return of Christ. For example, Hosea 11:1 refers to when Israel was a boy, when God called him out of Egypt – a reference to the exodus. But Hosea 3:5 states: “Afterwards the sons of Israel will come back and certainly look for Jehovah their God, and for David their king; and they will certainly come quivering to Jehovah and to his goodness in the final part of the days.”
“David,” of course, is in reference to Christ, the son of David. And the final part of the days is the concluding harvest, when Christ returns, at which point he will dispatch his angels to uproot the weeds from among the wheat and gather the wheat into the storehouse. Hosea 6:11 also speaks of such a harvest, saying: “Furthermore, O Judah, a harvest has been fixed for you, when I gather back the captive ones of my people.”
That the prophecies pertaining to Israel are in reality directed to the Christian Israel of God is further evident from what we read at Hosea 6:1-3, which says: “Come, you people, and do let us return to Jehovah, for he himself has torn in pieces but he will heal us. He kept striking, but he will bind us up. He will make us alive after two days. On the third day he will make us get up, and we shall live before him. And we will know, we will pursue to know Jehovah. Like dawn, his going forth is firmly established. And he will come in like a pouring rain to us; like a spring rain that saturates the earth.”
As Paul warned, God scourges everyone he receives as a son, tearing in pieces, then healing – striking, but then binding the wound. As everyone surely knows, Christ was resurrected on the third day. He was made to get up, which is what the word resurrect literally means. And those who are joint heirs with Christ, hence also the seed, will be made to get up, as it were, in the first resurrection.
Interestingly, the 11th chapter of Revelation portrays the martyred two anointed witnesses standing up from death after three days – implying that they are raised up the same as Christ, as immortal spirits. But, first comes the tearing in pieces. Just as God used the Assyrian and Babylonian tyrants to punish his wayward nations (Israel and Judah) in ancient times the same beastly system will also provide the modern punisher as well in the form of the eighth king.
In the book of Habakkuk, which by the Watchtower’s own admission is a vision yet for the time appointed, Jehovah’s assigned imperial executioner is likened to an eagle speeding to eat something. The same analogy is used at Hosea 8:1-2, which says: “To your mouth—a horn! One comes like an eagle against the house of Jehovah, for the reason that they have overstepped my covenant, and against my law they have transgressed. To me they keep crying, ‘O my God, we, Israel, have known you.’”
My purpose has been to sound the horn of the coming judgment against the house of Jehovah. Of course, the leadership of Jehovah’s Witnesses would never admit to having overstepped the Christian covenant or having transgressed God’s law, which is why God is forced to use such strong measures – basically, wrecking the world!
The next verse states: “Israel has cast off good. Let one who is an enemy pursue him. They themselves have set up kings, but not because of me. They have set up princes, but I did not know it. With their silver and their gold they have made for themselves idols, to the end that they may be cut off.”
In a sense the Watchtower Society has also set up its own king by fabricating an elaborate theology of how Christ invisibly became king in 1914 and in 1918 he appointed them to oversee his earthly kingdom. And in more recent years they have set up a governing body and various other corporate offices, which are overseen by what amounts to princes. The Watchtower Society has become materially wealthy and its leading princes have built great houses for themselves. The organization itself has become a golden calf – an idol. Its every utterance is considered to be sacred.
Hosea 10:1-2 continues in the same vein: “Israel is a degenerating vine. Fruit he keeps putting forth for himself. In proportion to the abundance of his fruit he has multiplied his altars. In proportion to the goodness of his land, they put up good pillars. Their heart has become hypocritical; now they will be found guilty.”
Hypocrisy is defined as a pretense of having a virtuous character, moral or religious beliefs or principles that one does not really possess or pretending to have some desirable or publicly approved attitude. This certainly describes what the Watchtower Society has become.
Publicly the Watchtower claims that it “abhors child abuse.” But does it really? Predictably, in the wake of the recent multi-million dollar judgment against them the Society is making a public display of its assumed abhorrence of child abuse. On the front page of their old website Bethel had made prominent various articles they have written on child abuse dating back to 1983.
The Watchtower’s lawyers are obviously trying to manage the public’s perception as part of their appeal bid, trying to give the impression that the leadership have been in the forefront of helping parents to protect their children. While the articles offer parents helpful suggestions, there is a glaring omission. Since it is common knowledge that thousands of children have been sexually abused by men who were and in many cases still are Jehovah’s Witnesses, if the princes of Bethel really abhorred child abuse would it not be the responsible thing for them to warn Jehovah’s Witness parents of the danger that lurks within the congregation? But there is no such warning. Not a word. And worse, there is no acknowledgment of the fact that some of the abusers have even been elders and ministerial servants. Truly, their heart has become hypocritical. Jehovah is certain to find them guilty.
The leadership has convinced Jehovah’s Witnesses that they are living in a predator-free spiritual paradise and has falsely assured parents that any wrongdoers are promptly removed. Right on the mark verse four in the New Century Version states: “They make many false promises and agreements which they don’t keep. So people sue each other in court; they are like poisonous weeds growing in a plowed field.”
How true, even as verse 13 states: “You people have plowed wickedness. Unrighteousness is what you have reaped. You have eaten the fruitage of deception, for you have trusted in your way, in the multitude of your mighty ones.”

Your murmurings are not against us, but against Jehovah.—Ex. 16:8.
Jehovah and Jesus are perfect Shepherds. The human under shepherds to whom they entrust the care of the congregations are not. This reality may make it challenging for some to follow the elders’ lead. Such individuals may reason: ‘They are imperfect humans just like us. Why should we listen to their counsel?’ However, we need to have a proper view of their shortcomings and weaknesses. The Scriptures candidly acknowledge the failings of those whom Jehovah used to lead his people in the past. In having Bible writers record the shortcomings of men whom he had commissioned, God showed that he can use imperfect men to lead his people. We should not use the imperfections of those who take the lead among us today as an excuse to murmur against them or to ignore their authority.

COMMENTARY

Not all murmuring is against Jehovah. The 6th chapter of Acts records a murmuring among the Greek-speaking Jews because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution. The apostles swiftly dealt with the legitimate complaint.
Curiously, though, the new edition of the NWT has dropped the word “murmuring” from Acts 6:1 in favor of “complaint.” However, even the Kingdom Interlinear uses the word “murmuring,” as do various other translations. It is not that the word “murmuring” has fallen out of use though, seeing that the revised NWT uses it in the account recorded in Exodus. Why the change? Is it in order to cast murmurers among Jehovah’s Witnesses in a bad light even if their cause for murmuring is legitimate, as was the complaint of the Greek-speaking widows in the first century?
As regards the so-called imperfections of the men of former times whom God used, it should be noted that their sins were made public. In the case of David God punished him for his disrespectful acts. Peter was also publicly rebuked by Paul for his hypocrisy.
But who really is taking the lead among Jehovah’s Witnesses? Is it the local elders? No, of course not. It is the Governing Body and their helpers. The question they ought to consider is this: Is there any legitimate cause for complaint against them on the part of Jehovah’s Witnesses? And if so, what do they propose to do about it? As it stands presently the Governing Body rule as gods over the organization. Any voice of complaint or criticism against them, no matter how warranted, is considered a form of blasphemy against God. That attitude is reflected in the Daily Text.
Yet, when a member of the Governing Body appears before a legal agency like Australia’s Royal Commission, for example, and his sworn testimony is viewed by tens of thousands on YouTube, and the spokesman for Jehovah’s earthly organization states unashamedly that the elders would gladly set aside their Bible principles that supposedly prevent them from cooperating with police in the investigation of crimes committed against the children of Jehovah’s Witnesses if only the law required them to do so, is it murmuring against Jehovah if Jehovah’s Witnesses sigh and groan over such a flagrant and disgusting act of hypocrisy and deceit on the part of Jesus’ under shepherds?
Not only that, when the same representative states that the Watchtower may consider compensating victims of child abuse, is that not an outright admission of negligence on their part? And if the Watchtower is going to compensate victims in Australia, what about in America and Great Britain and everywhere crimes against children have gone unreported? And if the Governing Body now consider it proper to compensate victims, why are they still the legal adversaries of child abuse victims during the interim when they are “considering” compensating the victims of their failed policies?

The wisdom of their wise men will perish

They will become one flock, one shepherd. —John 10:16.
Not all who have the hope of living in heaven are part of “the faithful and discreet slave.” (Matt. 24:45-47) Just as in the first century, Jehovah and Jesus today are using a few brothers to feed, or teach, many. Only a few anointed Christians in the first century were used to write the Christian Greek Scriptures. Today, only a few anointed Christians have the responsibility to give God’s people “food at the proper time.” Jehovah has decided to give everlasting life on earth to the vast majority of his people and life in heaven to those few who will rule with Jesus. Jehovah rewards all his servants —the “Jew” as well as the “ten men”— and he requires them to obey the same laws and remain faithful. (Zech. 8:23) All must stay humble. All must serve him together and be united. And all must work to keep the peace in the congregation. As we get closer to the end, let us all keep serving Jehovah and following Christ as “one flock.” w20.01 31 ¶15-16
It is true, not all anointed Christians are expected to provide “food at the proper time” for the so-called domestics. Even so, it is also true that not even the few who claim to be faithful and discreet will be found by the master to have been faithful to their commission.
But the Watchtower certainly has the resources to reach many millions of persons and they are to be commended for providing basic supplies like Bibles and literature to assist ministers in teaching interested persons and making disciples. No company or organization in the world has produced as much literature in as many languages as the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society.
Paul explained God’s provisions in the first century and it is similar to what the text says, that not all anointed persons are assigned to provide spiritual food. Writing to the Corinthians the apostle said: “Now you are Christ’s body, and each of you individually is a member. And God has assigned the respective ones in the congregation: first, apostles; second, prophets; third, teachers; then powerful works; then gifts of healings; helpful services; abilities to direct; different tongues. Not all are apostles, are they? Not all are prophets, are they?” — 1 Corinthians 12:27-29
Obviously, a lot has changed from the original arrangement. There are no longer gifts of healing, or powerful works, or speaking in tongues. Despite the GB implying that they are apostles, the original apostles are still the apostles by virtue of the authority conveyed in their writings—especially Peter, John and Paul.
What about prophets? In his letter to the Ephesians Paul explained that Christ’s congregation was founded upon the apostles and prophets: “You are fellow citizens of the holy ones and are members of the household of God, and you have been built up on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, while Christ Jesus himself is the foundation cornerstone. In union with him the whole building, being harmoniously joined together, is growing into a holy temple for Jehovah.” — Ephesians 2:19-21
Although Paul was the foremost Christian prophet, the prophets upon which the house of God is being constructed are primarily the Hebrew prophets.
Paul instructed the Corinthians not to speak in tongues in the congregation unless there is an interpreter. Paul said that he preferred that they prophesy an intelligible message in order to build up the hearer. Whatever messages the Christian prophets spoke back then have not been written down and preserved. It was food at the proper time then, not now. (The only exception is Agabus, who foretold a severe famine and Paul being arrested in Jerusalem.)
Again, though, there are no Christian prophets now, not in the sense that unique, divinely inspired messages are conveyed through them. Just as the apostles are still the apostles within Christ’s congregation the Hebrew prophecies are still the word of God. Since God’s word is alive all the things written ages ago are alive too and not dead history. As Paul explained to the Hebrews: “For the word of God is alive and exerts power and is sharper than any two-edged sword and pierces even to the dividing of soul and spirit, and of joints from the marrow, and is able to discern thoughts and intentions of the heart.” — Hebrews 4:12
Whether in the first century or now, the messaging within the Christian congregation is ultimately controlled by Christ. If there is a slave who has been appointed to provide food at the proper time for it, then the head of the congregation must be involved in determining what that food is and the holy spirit must guide the process. Conversely, if it is not food at the proper time then the slave will not discern it. As Paul pointed out, the congregation is built upon the apostles and prophets. According to the apostle God allows for an operation of Satan to go into effect within the spiritual temple. So, along with the food at the proper time is a lie. A very big lie.
The prophet Isaiah foretold that God would hide some very important information from those who function as the spiritual guides of his people. It matters not how many helpers there are on the Teaching Committee or whatever. If God has hidden the truth they will not be able to uncover it no matter how deeply they study the Scriptures. Did not Jehovah declare: “And the wisdom of their wise men will perish, and the understanding of their discreet men will be hidden.” — Isaiah 29:14
Since the Governing Body claims they are the wise and discreet few, God’s word most aptly applies to them. Take the comments from today’s text for example. For decades the Watchtower has applied Zechariah 8:23 to modern times. It is true, the “Jew” represents anointed persons (more correctly sealed ones) and the 10 men symbolize the sheep who do good to Christ’s brothers. However, at the present time, the true sons of God have not been distinguished. Jesus foretold that within his congregation prior to the day of the Lord there are those who say they are apostles but who are lying. They are really Jews who belong to the synagogue of Satan. What if some of the men from the nations take hold of the robe of a Jew from the Devil’s synagogue?
Take the JW Broadcast for November as another example of the blindness of the food providers. The Governing Body teaches that the prophecy of Isaiah is being fulfilled now; that instead of copper God is bringing in gold and instead of iron, silver. This supposedly represents the organizational improvements that have been implemented over recent decades. But if we read the prophecy in context we ought to discern that the rebuild takes place after the destruction, a destruction that God brings upon His own organization. God states at Isaiah 60:10: “For in my indignation I struck you, but in my favor I will have mercy on you.”
There are many reasons God is indignant. And the expression of His indignation is called the great tribulation. First must come the crash of nations and the desolation of the antitypical Jerusalem. Then Christ will build back better and only the divinely approved will be able to enter into the real Kingdom of God. That is the message of the apostles and prophets.

If there is an accusation of child abuse, now, families with children are informed that the accusation exists. I know this didn't happen in the past but there is a procedure in place that will provide some protection.
