Why are the wild animals mentioned in Rev 6:8

Rev 6:8

These [four horsemen] were given authority over a quarter of the earth to kill with the sword, with famines, with plagues, and with the wild animals of the earth.

I was reading this verse in the 2001 translation today and it struck me. Why would Jehovah put that part with the wild animals in that verse. Will our furry friends turn on us to that degree? Today there is the rare report of a Tiger, lion, bear, etc attacking and killing someone. But for it to actually be highlighted in the Bible am I correct to assume it will become a full on animal caused bloodbath?

I wondered the same thing kirmmy. Years ago when we studied the red Revelation book it explains that there would be or have been more animal attacks in recent years or as they stated “in the last days.” But now I don’t know about that. It seems to stand out from all the other signs given.

Just what we need now, along with everything else…have animals attacking us from out of nowhere too!

I wonder what Robert’s thinking is about this…since he does have that series of videos on Revelation l‘d be interested to know myself. 😊

I always thought the wild beasts in that verse meant people that behave like wild beasts. We are certainly seeing people attacking and killing others at random and for no reason other than they can it seems. This would be different from killing in warfare. 🤷‍♀️ Maybe.

Maybe, but when Revelation 6:8 speaks of all the other signs given, they are literal, so it would seem that the animals would be too. Look up and notice the cross references to Rev. 6:8.

The human beast are far more dangerous than any "wild beast". If you've seen that woman run over that disabled guy on a side walk last week, or watch any compilation of the violence in the last 2 years, and we haven't even begun to see how bad people will get! These people have no real reason to "riot".

Yes, but the verse says “authority was given them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with…..and by the wild beasts of the earth.”

So why does that verse specifically refer to ‘ the wild beasts of the earth?”
Weren’t the ones given authority over fourth part of the earth, to kill with a long sword…weren’t they the PEOPLE that would be doing this?
But the “wild beasts” are mentioned separate.

When it comes to things like this, I look at it a couple of different ways. First of all, what should we take literally? And when it comes to what something like this really means, I think , "what is going on between Satan and Jehovah." It's Satan's system vs God's system. So I think the "sword" would represent the military, and wild beast, crazy Satanic followers of Satan who reek havoc on infrastructure and citizens. Military is going to be more organized, surgical battles etc. Crazy rioters during 2020, acted like rabid crazed wild beast with no logical reasoning to there actions, burning down their own neighborhoods and cities.

Give people 10 days without food and they will act like wild beasts!


But I'm not married to this opinion! Just my thoughts.

It is interesting that already people in financial distress are letting their pets go because they can no longer feed them. With house cats that's not a problem, but dogs are pack animals and in big cities if packs of dogs start roaming the streets it would be a huge problem. Millions of households have dogs. Put millions of dogs on the street. Yikes! Packs of ravenous dogs would be a feature of civilization's breakdown. Still, I do not think that is what Revelation is talking about. The governments are likened to wild beasts and as things break down they are going to become more and more vicious.

Governments are likened to wild beasts, ah yes, I heard that before, and that makes sense ,too. I certainly hope we don't have to deal with packs of wild dogs but ravenous governments will probably be no different. TY for refreshing this old memory. Stuff goes in but then I can't find it in all the clutter .

Don't discount that thought. If it happened before... Look at the world's entertainment today. Violence and perversion permeates everything.
I was watching a free movie channel the other night and the forced ads were nothing but mask and vaccine propaganda with homosexual promotion mixed in. Reading the comments section in the news is very telling. You can almost smell blood.

Keep a machete nearby. Seriously. I love dogs and cats but if I see a pack headed my way I won't hesitate. At work there are two large German Shepherds that come by now and then hunting for our cats. They aren't hungry. They just want to kill something and yet still they roam the streets. They do not respond to humans. Luckily the cats have places to climb for safety. They got one small cat two years ago.

You know it. Just look at the crazed, purple haired, left-leaning people when they protest. They are white-of-their-eyes maniacs. It would take nothing for them to go full on terminator. Problem is that, without the "hyperalloy endoskeleton", they're going to be in a world of hurt. :) Most of them won't know a real fight until it hits them upside the head. :LOL:

I can definitely relate to the packs of or a few wild dogs when out in service in the past. Having mostly rural territory here we would at times have packs of wild dogs that would follow us from house to house. We would just have to blow the horn ar each house till they got tired of following us. 😬
One time, that I can remember, there was a pretty vicious dog at this house who came to the car and bit the tires ( on another sister’s car) which caused one of the tires to go flat! 😳

Many of the friends here are deathly scared of dogs…so many times me and another sister, who wasn’t so scared, would get out and if a dog came at me I would stomp my foot and go ehhh! then put my trusty book bag between me and the dog. That usually caused him to back up and walk off. Of course I was cautious. And I learned about doing that as a precaution at pioneer school. 😜 👍🏼
