We’ve been watching this couples experience with their elders on the whole cvd push that went down in the congregation. We realize this is their version of what happened and that they could certainly be editing things to fit their narrative but it sure sounds familiar to some of the things we experienced. We also got the same questions regarding our cvd status and my husband as the group overseer refused to ask anyone or answer ourselves. That’s when things started to sour between him and the other elders. He supposed to have a meeting with a couple other elders soon about him still not attending in person - I’m sure that will go well.
The elders reasoning in this video is that if they didn’t give their personal info then they shouldn’t care about why it was being collected. They refuse to answer simple questions and the brother on the legal department’s line just creeps me out! When my husband tried to talk with a fellow elder about the vx dangers early in summer 2020 the brothers only response was “Where are you getting YOUR information? We haven’t heard anything like that from the branch!“ which is basically like someone telling you they saw your wife kissing someone at a bar and your response is “why were YOU at the bar?”
When we try to bring anything up now with our family about what the GB is doing all we get is “why are you looking into that?” Or my favorite “Be careful what you read!” like we’re children. Anyway its been interesting to watch their experience.

Just as an informational update, the husband Curtis posts regularly on the exjw subreddit and no longer believes that there are two separate classes or outcomes. My take on that is that he doesn't believe in the earthly reward and if that was expressed to elders it makes sense that they were disfellowshipped for apostasy.

If I'm understanding correctly, the elders were collecting info about the publishers vaxx status? Is this a common practice in the U.S. branch? I haven't heard of that going on here. I would never have consented to that. And they are completely within their rights to ask about why it was collected, where it went to and who has access to it. I don't understand why they provided it to begin with. It's not the elders or the branch's concern.

Interesting...I suspect the GB was trying to collect that info in order to continue their unscientific statistical updates in order to gain more compliance through coercion and fear same as the governments were doing. Like you say, they likely got a lot of flack as demonstrated in the video and decided to drop it.

Their playbook becomes so obvious when you take off the lenses of fear. "Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain...fear, fear fear...comply, comply comply!"

Yes it does become obvious to the point of being laughable like the evil villain in an old movie. The thing I’m concerned about is their weird cvd actions, gathering medical info, constantly hammering we’ll receive “strange and illogical“ direction, and then my mind goes to “why aren’t there any windows in the halls…” Maybe I’m being over dramatic but after the last 2+ years I don’t think anything is out of the question now.

The information requested was for if a publisher tested positive for covid. They included Vax status in that, but they weren't asking for the non-sick in the congregation to disclose their status. I agree that it was really none of their business.

You reminded me of my sister and brother in law. I have a similar response to pertinent questions to them about watchtower. The scriptures discussing such responses is so descriptive of their attitude. Over the years, I have grown to understand the truth of those scriptures in that nothing short of terror will move them to examine the truth. It is amazing really, how little reasoning of, and understanding of the scriptures is required to gain a full understanding of the issues and to have faith in them. In fact, understanding the doctrines of the watchtower and their application, is a lot harder to swallow and remain true to, than the scriptures themselves. Jesus was true to his word. His “yoke” is easy to carry, and he really does lead us to waters of life and to lie down in green pastures. Neither is there the constant strain of “being ready” with the go-bag at the door, rather, there is the solace of peaceful expectation and faith in our lives that we are remembered.
